China Star is my go to place for Chinese take out on the island. It is "New York Style" Chinese. What does that mean? Variety! They actually have real shrimp egg rolls which I love and are hard to find anymore. Most places don't even know the difference between an egg roll and a spring roll. I've had their food on a couple of occasions and have always enjoyed it. They are right next to Home Depot which makes them super convenient. Their combination plates give a good variety of meat and shrimp at a fair price. I am never left hungry after one of their meals. The only negative would be that they do not offer any military or other discounts. read more

Hate to start the new year off with a bad review but the food met no expectations except for being delivered on time and a tasty egg roll but thats where the compliant ends. General Taos chicken was mostly breading and very little chicken, over sauced with 4 pieces of broccoli. Was not worth the effort to try to find the chicken. Pork strips - again over sauced and thin overcooked pork bits / i also ordered for the house rice which was a up charge, not worth it, nothing special here. The biggest disappointment was the fried wontons soaking in what was supposed to be a garlic sauce but maybe sweet and sour sauce? Everything basically tasted the same- no meat in the wontons. I threw away 90% of this meal away - was not worth saving and the no protein was a huge disappointment- I basically paid for breading. This is not a cheap Chinese takeout- my bill was over $30. And so the expectations that I would at least have meat in my general Taos and wonton is not asking too much. Disappointed read more

Very well presented and packaged. Large portions. Perfectly fried shrimp rolls. I'm not a big Chinese food connoisseur but the overall theme no matter the dish seemed to be sugar. Even the spicy food tasted more sugary than spicy. We enjoyed everything nonetheless and it was delivered within 30 minutes on a Thursday night at 6pm so that was a big plus. We have been in Merritt Island for three years and have yet to have good Chinese Food. Today I ordered from home and immediately drove to pick up ( 15 min drive) and expected to have to wait and it was already bagged hot ready for pick up. Plus it tasted amazing. Well? We were craving chinese so we thought we'd try China Star. Our regular "go to" chinese restaurant takes a well deserved break on Sunday. Anyway, we will not be ordering from China Star again. It was just sad. I grew up in Maryland and we used to go to Washington, D.C. to have chinese or shop the chinese stores for supplies. Miss that for sure! We ordered shrimp chow mein which was actually cabbage, onions, tiny shrimp and everything looked white (very, very, pale green) and had no flavor. The rice was overcooked and mush. In the old days...Sweet and sour chicken was battered chicken with chopped carrots, green peppers, pineapple, pickles and onions in a sweet and sour sauce. Our sweet and sour chicken came with battered chicken and pour on your own sauce. Definitely not worth the money!! WAY OVER PRICED!! read more

Accidentally ordered from China Star instead of Joy Luck located next to publix. Big mistake. We went to Joy Luck to pick up out order and there were several people ordering and picking up food when we realized we ordered from China Star. So we goto China Star to pick up food and it was empty. That should have been our first clue. On our way home my daughter went to open a fortune cookie and it was so stale she could open it without breaking it. Literally unwrapped it until it was flat. The rest of the dinner was just as bad and my stomach has been bothering me since we at there. read more

Strip mall cheap food. You get what you pay for, big portion ok quality.

This is actually our favorite chinese in the cocoa/merritt island area. We moved from m.i. to cocoa and still cross the bridge whenever we want chinese. We've tried many other places and no place comes close except maybe chi lin's but for that we still have to cross the bridge, so it's china star for me. This place is awful. We have tried it a few times just to make sure and it's terrible every time! Tonight we ordered sesame chicken and got fried pieces of dough covered in sauce with NO chicken in them!! We also got lo mein noodles and they tasted like they had been cooking all day long to the point of being almost burnt tasting. This place is disgusting and we will never order here again. My usual restaurant was closed so I tried China Star. I tried to place a large order for a family gathering. The staff kept handing off the phone in the middle of the order. When I had completed the order, I was hung up on before I had a chance to give them my card information. I called back and stated that I needed to pay for the order. He became rude and asked if I, "want to know how much money." I said I did and he only then began ringing up the order. When the order came it was incorrect and we were given white rice when we had ordered fried rice. I called back to request that they fix the order and he tried to hang up the phone. I asked for them to replace the white rice with the correct rice and fix the order. The man argued over the phone for a few minutes and then agreed to fix the order. When the delivery person came back with the proper food She requested we give her the white rice back and stated I had not ordered fried rice. She began arguing with me in my driveway about the order. I returned the white rice and requested my tip back. She became belligerent and stated she had never been given a tip. I personally handed her the tip. TL;DR Terrible service, very rude and dishonest. Unwilling to correct an improper order. I will never order from this establishment again. read more

Went here instead of Joy Luck just to try it out. What a big mistake. My wife and I both ordered Mushu Beef, Mine spicy and hers normal. The messed up and only gave us one of the Mushu Beef and it was burnt. Ordered the second one again and it was also burnt. We also ordered sweet and sour chicken and the sauce was opened and spilled all over the bag. I will never go to this place again. Was our first and will be our last. Do not go here.
