One of my go to dishes is Chicken with Broccoli. Packed with so much, it tastes as good as it looks. My family also loves their General Tso's Tofu too. Based on my last review, looks like it's been 4 years since I've been to China Taste, and boy was my food different this time! Giving them 3 stars this time around, thinking maybe they had a bad day! Food was really 2 stars. I'll go back again for a lunch special, but if it's anything like the food I got today, I won't be going back! Got a large chicken with broccoli and a large beef with mixed vegetables. Both were incredibly oily and salt was the overriding flavor! You can see the oil shine in the pictures. Looks very different from the chicken with broccoli picture posted by another reviewer 27 days ago. Paid like $28.50 for the two dishes, wasn't even worth half that! In the mood for some Chinese take out and ordered some staples to compare. Ordered from their lunch menu so the portions are relatively smaller. Price was fair. The lunch menu are not the typical "combo" of egg rolls and soda and there was also no "coupons" so if you are looking for a deal - this is strictly just for food. The shrimp and garlic sauce over fried rice was decent flavored and had a generous amount of 4 large shrimp so very proportionate to their vegetables. The general tsaos tasted like utilized their "sweet and sour chicken" and added the sauce to make it general tsao (typical for most places to pre fry their mest for both dishes but this had a sweet and sour flavor instead of general tsao. Their beef chow fun sizing is size "small" that could use a little more seasoning like salt. For a Chinese take out place; it's about average what you get around the Leonia area. I'll go with the shrimp and garlic sauce as their better dishes out of the 3. read more

I have been eating at China Taste regularly (at least monthly) for more than 20 years, but today was the last time. Maybe it's like a lot of other break-ups: It's not you; it's me. We started taking each other for granted. Sometimes I'd show up wearing sweatpants ... But whatever the reason, it's over. We'll always have the memories... Honestly, the food has always been middling, with the quality declining as the day grew later (e.g., don't order General Tso Chicken after 8 PM unless you like it REALLY hard). But for years China Taste was dependable and affordable; within walking distance and good enough in a pinch. Then the small indignities started piling on: They stopped making minor substitutions to combination meals--and started adding surcharges for debit/credit card purchases because of a "business tax." Portions have gotten just a teeeeny bit smaller over time. No "free" can of soda for orders over a certain dollar amount. Fortune cookies by demand only. Sometimes they get the order wrong... Nothing earth-shattering, merely sorta unpleasant. Finally, it dawned on me as I walked away for the last time that a "just okay" meal for two at my go-to cheap Chinese takeaway cost more than $40--and in in that price range, I have other, better options. I have no doubt China Taste will survive without me. But I'd still be a customer if they occasionally didn't act like my business didn't matter. read more

May be the best Chinese food I have had. Not too salty, not greasy. Vegetable Lo Mein, vegetable fried rice, boneless spare rib platter, fried chicken wings, and vegetable spring roll all hit the spot. Only come here for their fried chicken. Their fried chicken is legit. You know it's legit because they require at least 15-25 minutes to make. The fried chicken is so moist on the inside and the skin is so crispy. I've ordered Chinese food here and it's very bad. My rating is just on the fried chicken alone because it definitely stands out among all the other Chinese fast food places. This is my go to place. Too late,too lazy, just don't feel like cooking. It's Chinese take out time. Like any take out place, you try and find favorites. Do not be mistaken - this is a cheap Chinese food delivery place...but this place was a real lifesaver in my youth. Far, FAR more delicious than the Domino's (the only other real fast food option in the town), this place serves up some mean egg rolls, General Tsao's, and other standard fare. Only a small sit-in area (2 four person booths, and two 2-seaters), but this is the kind of place that is all about the give and go. You know, it's "take out Chinese Food". If you're expecting authentic szechuan food, then you're an idiot. Their dishes are tasty and exactly what I expect. Not everything is great. So with the 4 star review, I expected to eat good Chinese food. It was okay, decent but I wouldn't order again unless it's just sesame noodles and Lomaine noodles. The general chicken is deep fried and super chewy and the dumplings are very thick is dough, I mean I guess it more of that "fast foodie" Chinese place but definitely not an authentic Chinese place! Second, the lady that answers the phone actually speak very well/fluent English; therefore, they never get my order wrong. Lastly, their food is always good and hot when I pick it up.
