The Crouching Tiger roll was fantastic, I didn't realize it had tempura crab in it as its not listed on the menu which I would have probably not ordered had I known, however it was very good and flavorful. I also had the Plum sushi entree, it was very good as well. There were some issues throughout our visit such as some raw pork shumai served to one of the members of our party and my Plum sushi set coming with a California roll originally though I had ordered a Tuna roll, wouldn't have been a big deal besides the fact I am allergic to Avocado so needed that remedied immediately. Thankfully we had a FANTASTIC server named Ausitin who not only fixed all of our issues but had great energy throughout the meal. None of the issues we faced stemmed from him they all stemmed from the kitchens lack of attention. Ambiance is super casual which we appreciated for a relaxed dinner. As for the chefs and cooks, they make every dish delicious, fresh and served in a short amount of time. The sushi chefs are artists that curate, assemble and plate everything, making sure it's complementary to each individual piece. I have eaten inside once and thought the food was okay. I generally prefer takeout, and I regularly order sushi rolls without rice. This is not usually a difficult request at sushi restaurants--you simply make the roll with seaweed and the fillings, without the rice. Oishii has also made several different rolls for me without rice in the past, with no issue. This time, I ordered only two rolls without rice. When my partner went to pick them up, they were told the restaurant could not make them that way. After going back and forth with the receptionist, someone eventually went into the back and had the rolls remade--the same type of order they had completed for me before. I understand confusion or an occasional mistake. If the order was misunderstood and the rolls were initially made with rice, that would have been easy to correct. What was frustrating was being told they could not make something they had previously made multiple times, rather than simply acknowledging the issue and fixing it. This review is less about the food, which has been okay, and more about customer service and accountability over a small, avoidable problem. The restaurant is much closer than Mt. Fuji, but I would rather make the longer drive than have to argue over a simple request that has already been accommodated there before.
