This place is a hidden gem in Delaware. I am from up north and travel an hour just to have some of the best Chinese food in the state. The owner is extremely friendly and has a great memory. Though we only get here a few times a year, he always remembers us and our order. Family run since it opened. The food comes out fast. There are some secret items that aren't on the menu. Like the cheese steak egg rolls. A must try! This place and the strip mall Chinese food places are way apart in flavor and quality. These guys are well ahead. The portions are generous and the prices are well below the worth. Our go to on the menu is chicken and broccoli, curry chicken and onions, and plain fried rice. Wow.....I wish I had something good to say. But, honestly it was not just bad, it was all inedible. The general tso's chicken was mushy and had a tasteless slime on it. The rice was dark brown, and no flavor. The Hot and sour soup tasted old, and the house chow mien the same. This restaurant is very nice. They do lunch and dinner only. The owner is a sweet older woman who still works! She's beyond retirement but strong and washes dishes and helps to cook. Always comes out to check on things. The cook/manager was very welcoming and came out a couple of times to make sure everything was good. Everyone was friendly and professional. Best part----the meal was DELICIOUS. I had the orange beef and white rice and my significant other had the pepper steak with rice. Who can ask for better service?! read more

I went here and got beef lo mein and they clearly used ramen noodles and right away I was confused (figured they ran out of noodles). I ate the whole portion and it was super dry and tasteless. That night I woke up sweaty and on the toilet for the next two days. I thought I had Covid. Today I went for a Covid test and the doctor said it came back negative and I had food poisoning. The sweet and sour sauce is so incredibly red I am pretty sure it is just red dye 40 and oil. The food was not good at all. We were overcharged as well. If you are looking for good Chinese food this is not the place. read more

We live in Millsboro, almost 30 miles away, and we make the trip when we want authentic Chinese. I am sick and tired of Chinese restaurants calling yellow rice/saffron rice, fried rice. Shangai puts in the work, and does a very good New York Style fried rice, "with bean sprouts." Being born in New York, and having become accustomed to good fried rice, it is a joy to finally find a place that comes close. Yesterday, we ordered shrimp fried rice with jumbo shrimp, pork fried rice (they used real pork and NOT FAT), chicken, beef, and pork lo-mein, and steamed broccoli with no sauce. Everything was absolutely delicious and worth the drive. Everyone's taste buds are different, but mines were more than satisfied!!! Please keep your chef!!!! read more

I wanted to like this old-school standalone Chinese restaurant with full bar, but the food was a few notches below just OK. Probably the driest, most oddly-cut up chicken I've ever had at a Chinese restaurant (or takeout), and I wasn't sure that my dish was even what I had ordered. Note that the restaurant menu prices are higher than the take-out menu prices, and the extra dollars or more-than-a-dollars add up quickly if you order a few dishes. Not much good paying for "larger servings" if you don't even want to finish what's on your plate. I really miss the Milford Diner (next door) for dinner! read more

Fantastic! We each ordered a 3 course general tso's chicken. A nice balanced sauce with a little heat. It was perfect. Egg rolls super crispy. The won ton soup very tasty. Everything very fresh and it really beat the crap out of our local takeout place. Worth the drive. 28 bucks for the two of us. Highly recommend! We will be back. read more
