I've had my last straw with this place. Food is mediocre at best and they are always inconsistent. Last week I ordered a combo platter meal and an extra egg roll. They only gave me 1 egg roll. Ordered the same thing today and it took an hour to make a meal for 1 person, then once AGAIN they only gave me 1 egg roll. This time I went back in and got my second but when I got home I realized they didn't give me any sweet and sour sauce for my only order, sweet and sour chicken. LOL. Great I got fried chicken! This place is really conveniently located for me but I think I'll just pay the extra delivery fee from now on from somewhere else, more reliable. read more

This is my go to spot for Chinese food in the Geneva/St. Charles area. I usually stick to the General Tso's Chicken which is very good here. They are usually pretty fast and you get a lot for your money. The restaurant is in a small strip mall, pull into the parking lot when you see the 7 Eleven sign. Very nice and friendly. Fast delivery to our nearby hotel. Combo plates, eh. Egg roll good but cabbagey (we prefer bean sprouts). Rice bland. Mongolian beef pretty flavorless. Beef and broccoli, same. However, boneless spare ribs turned out to be strips of pork in tangy, sweet sauce, and a delicious guilty pleasure. Small joint...I might even call it a "hole in the wall". Food is rock solid and very reasonably priced. It is a family run business and they really put a lot of effort into the food. First time order last night. We had been ordering from another Chinese restaurant in Geneva for 10 yrs, but lately the prices have gone up significantly and the meat portions have gone down significantly ... China Wok absolutely exceeded our expectations in every way! Food was awesome, portions were generous, and there was a lot of MEAT!! Service was great as well. We ordered Hanan Spicy beef, Orange Chicken, Sweet & Sour Pork, Crab Fried rice, and a bunch of egg rolls (they threw a few in because it was a larger order ... nice) Again, great food. We have a new Chinese menu in the drawer and have discarded the old one. read more

China Wok opened not long ago in the strip mall that is home to Ace Hardware. The dining area consists of 3-4 tables at the front of the restaurant. This is really more of a take-out kind of place. You can phone in your order ahead of time and it will usually be ready in 10-15 minutes. I have had the Lunch Special at China Wok twice now. For $5.75 you can pick from a list of dishes that come with a side of pork fried rice. So far I have had the Orange Chicken and General Tso's Chicken lunch specials. Both tasted good but weren't spectacular. A co-worker told me to skip the fried rice and get plain white rice instead because the fried rice has a smoky flavor. He has proven to be right - the fried rice has some barbecued red pork in it and I suspect that is where the smoky flavor comes from. It's OK, but the fried rice I have had everywhere else (including the fried rice I make myself) tastes better. When you order the lunch special for take-out, it comes in a paper bag which contains a baggie that has a couple of sauce packets, a napkin, a fork, and a fortune cookie plus the styrofoam container that holds your food. Each time I have ordered from China Wok, my food has been very hot, even after walking 5 minutes to my office in 45-degree weather. I guess the styrofoam container does its job. The portions from China Wok are huge. In fact, I have yet to finish a whole meal. I'm a husky guy, and that's saying something. Usually I'm full after eating 2/3-3/4 of what's in the container. So in summary, if you're in the mood for average Chinese food and want a lot of food for your money, go with China Wok. read more

This place is great value and has great food. The egg rolls are eh, but I always eat the free one that they give for orders over $20 because I think that I don't really mind a so-so egg roll. That is really the only complaint that I have because considering how crispy their veggies are and how well seasoned the food is. I love the twice cooked pork and they let me add more cabbage, which as stated, is deliciously crisp and the meat is well trimmed and not fatty. The same goes for my daughter's favorite beef and broccoli. The wonton soup is incredibly generous with the number of enormous dumplings. I don't really eat leftovers but I do from here because, again, the veggies can be reheated and stay crispy even the second and third time. For three meals the price is unbeatable. Nice people and they run a tight ship in terms of pick-up and delivery estimates.Yay SO glad they opened walking distance from me! read more

HOLY COW is this food good! Ordered Gen Tso, egg rolls, spring rolls and chicken lo mein. Everything was fresh and hot. Good flavor. Friendly service. Low prices compared to many other places. They brought me a free can of Coke because they were running behind - I forgot it was the Chinese New Year when I placed my order. I will be back for more in the future. It has been a while since we have eaten here. We dont do Chinese too much due to a child,with a peanut allergy. A few years ago I would have given this place three stars. Wow has the quality gone down hill. Stay away. Chicken lo mein should have two things....lo mein noodles and chicken. Theirs had neither! Thin spaghetti noodles and little chicken. DO NOT order the General Tso chicken...all breading...no chicken and what was there was brown and gristle. The wontons in the wonton soup were good. Egg rolls were ok. Sadly, we will not be ordering from here again. Look elsewhere! read more

First time customers and we will definitely be back. This place just became our favorite Chinese spot ever!!! I found this place online I got lucky. We started craving for some Chinese late at night! We ordered the orange chicken, shrimp lo mein, chicken friend rice, chicken terijaki and shrimp fried rice and had a little bit of everything. We had a big appetite do not judge for you will be judged! It was for me and my wife all that food. Everything was to our liking. Food reasonably priced, speedy service, friendly. Cheaper than silver lake but food is up to par with silver lake. Nothing amazing. I prefer the large crab rangoons compared with these. Egg rolls are good! No hot mustard packets provided? This was our go-to place for reasonably priced, good Chinese for almost 5 years, but no more. It was never great, but it was good; the owners were always pleasant and the food was consistent. I'm assuming there are new owners as the menu changed (slight increase with some dishes). I was actually excited to see chicken wings and Thai dishes added to the menu. We tried for the second time last night and the food was not great. The chicken wings were really dry and overcooked. The Thai dishes were all sauce with not many veggies or chicken. Our favorite Hunan Chicken again was all sauce, little substance and different in a bad way. Now it's also overpriced as the portions and containers are definitely smaller than with the previous owners. But those aren't the only reasons to keep us from going back. The young, very sweet girl working the counter and getting orders filled was verbally abused by a woman, who I assume is a relative, in ENGLISH! I understood every word. The young girl did nothing wrong!. No child should ever be treated that way, in front of a customer or in private. I was astounded! I will NEVER go there again and I suggest we all find another family restaurant to support, not the new China Wok. read more

We decided to try China Wok because it was Monday and Gen Hoe was closed. We ordered the Hunan Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Chicken and Broccoli, Pork Fried rice, Noodles, and egg rolls. All of that food only cost about $26, which seemed like a great value. Unfortunately the only ones who enjoyed the meal were my five and seven year old. My husband ate one plate full, and I could barely even get it down. If you are a fan of mall Chinese food and egg rolls that have been reheated this place is for you. Next time Gen Hoe is closed I think i'll order pizza instead. read more
