Had take out yesterday from East China -Batavia. We have dined in and carried out dinners. Idk if they changed cooks or maybe owners, but I was so disappointed! My husband and I ordered Red China w/ veg Lo Mein noodles, with an order of egg rolls. The egg rolls were very soft, "mushy like" nothing crispy about it. And yes, we have had their egg rolls before both in and out dining and they were always delicious. The filling was also very soft, like minced. Our dinner entree was skimpy, no thickened sauce, it was all liquid, as if it was sitting in broth, nothing stuck to the meat. Very disappointing. The Lo Mein noodles were in a smaller black plastic container vs the large white container we all grew up with! Like I said, something has changed, was really unpleasant. Sorry. LC read more

Our family has been ordering Chinese food from here since the '90s. It isn't inexpensive, but it has been consistently delicious and we always have enough leftovers to make another meal. Sadly, my most recent order was disappointing. I ordered 3 different entrees and we shared amongst ourselves. We were let down by the similarities between the supposedly separate dishes. The sauce as exactly the same and the only change among them was a few vegetables. And you have to pay extra for vegetables like pea pods, bok choy etc, which used to be standard for these dishes. I hope the owners return to their original recipes for everyone's sale. I didn't mind paying a bit extra for the food in the past because it was always a treat. But it wasn't worth it this time. read more

We were in the area and wanted something quick to eat. I ordered the sesame chicken dinner which was $12.75. I did not like the eggroll, and the chicken was mostly breading. There wasn't very much meat, just a very thick batter. Majority of the pieces on the bottom were very tiny almost a little bit bigger than popcorn chicken. The rice was good. My fiancé had the general chicken dinner, which was the same price. He threw his eggroll away, he did not like it. He said the rice was good and also said the chicken was low quality meat and mostly a thick batter or breading. We would not return. read more

Not many dining choices in Batavia and I needed to find something close. This restaurant is located in a strip mall on the main drag of Batavia. Lots of onsight parking. It's a small restaurant at one end of the building. Hostess greeted me as I entered and immediately seated me. Waitress was prompt and very courteous. If you order a soda it comes in a can and there are no refills unless you purchase another can. Flavor/taste was very mediocre. I ordered vegetable egg rolls as an appetizer, I'm not certain what I was served but it did not resemble any vegetable egg roll I've had in the past. I ordered their tomato & pepper beef, it came with white rice. Serving sizes were large and I had lots of leftovers to take with me. Fortunately I don't live in this area so I'll have better selections outside of Batavia. read more

The past couple of times that I ordered beef & string bean lunch special the beef that they use isn't beef, I don't know if they changed suppliers or what but it is disgusting, It is not like the East China I'll on Wilson st., Wilson street charges more then Randall road does, & I will pay higher price for better food, Randall road lost my business read more

East China Inn has been our go-to Chinese takeout spot for 10+ years and it has never disappointed us. Typically we order online for pick up but they also have indoor seating if you prefer to dine in. Prices are very reasonable and the service is very attentive and friendly. The sesame chicken and Mongolian beef are the household favorites but you really can't go wrong with anything on their menu. read more

This East China Inn on Randall Road in Batavia has no relation to the East China Inn on Wilson Street in downtown Batavia. Be extra careful if you just Google "East China Inn Batavia" because they're two separate restaurants. I got a vegetable egg roll ($4) and enjoyed its layered wrapper and 5-spice seasoned filling. The filling felt slightly mushy, though. The kung bao beancurd ($9.75) isn't on the menu, but they'll make it if you ask. I got mine without celery because I hate celery. This dish features loads of spice, though it felt over-cooked and the sauce got gloopy/congealed quickly. The "broccoli" ($5.75 for a small) tasted all right with a light garlic sauce. But the sauce has too much cornstarch, leading to an immediately gloopy-chunky mess. The service is friendly and attentive. All told, I prefer the East China Inn on Wilson Street more, but this one is a solid backup. read more

I had the East China Inn Basket. The basket was made of weaved potatoes. The oil the basket was cooked in was-rancid. absolutely uneatable. either that or the potato bowls had been stored so long it turned rancid. I tried to tell the waitress but she didn't comprehend. read more

The best of the cookie cutter Chinese restaurants on the area. I've been coming here for 15 years and the food is always consistent, fresh, prepared quickly, and fairly portioned. Staff here is always friendly, the place is always clean, and they don't over-bread all their meat like some places do. There are no surprises on this menu. Order your usual from any Chinese place and it'll be good here. So, why only 4 stars? I've been meaning to try this place for years. Caved last night and ordered after my best friend said this is also her fave in the area. It took only 40 minutes in total for me to place the order online until the time I was eating - I picked up also, so you can include 30 min round trip in there. Anyhow, the food was amazing. The staff inside was amazing. We got beef and broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, pork fried rice, egg rolls, crab Rangoon, and orange chicken, and we were impressed with everything. We were assured by the management that they could do Gluten Free only to discover at 745pm on Christmas Eve that they really can't. Basically, none of our entrees and rice dishes could be made GF and our only options were a couple of chicken dishes and fried rice without soy sauce. So basically nothing with flavor. This place might be good, but how about just being honest. This place can't do GF and I would be nervous about any food related allergies. Probably the best take out / delivery Chinese food the the area. The crab Rangoon is the best. We order from here every month. Our only issues have been with the hostess or person who you pay when you pick up the order. She always gets mad when you use coupons. Don't put them in your menus. Ordered the sesame chicken lunch special with a side of crab rangoon for my daughter. Food was delivered and was cold, and missing the egg roll. The chicken had a strange fishy aftertaste, which was disgusting. The rice, in addition to being cold, was also strange tasting. The crab rangoons were tough and rubbery and overall terrible. It's a weird thing when you offer a piece of the broccoli from the order to your dog and he walks away from it. We've ordered from here for several years now, and although initially pretty decent, the quality has gone way downhill. We will NEVER order from here again. Our order today was a pickup and when we got it home we found out it was missing the egg rolls. I called and they offered to make some if I wanted to come and pick it up. When I said no they offered a credit on my next purchase but I have to remember to ask for it. This is one of the most unfriendly Chinese restaurants I have ever experienced. Good: 1. They will change anything up for you-if you do not want something in your order they can take it out, so that is appealing. 2. For a small strip mall restaurant the interiors are ok...I equate it to a fancier version of Denny's atmosphere. 3. Prices are reasonable. Bad: 1. The cashier/order taker is so unfriendly...she is a petite woman with a round face who is like a robot...same thing everytime...no hello just "what's your phone number" (that is how you pick up your order). She just has a nasty disposition. 2. There is no consistency in flavor I ordered something one time and it was perfect ordered it another time and it is was super salty ordered the same item another time and it tasted burnt. 3. Something that bothers me about sit down restaurants is when front desk people and delivery people are eating and, playing on phones etc...on the floor of the restaurant for everyone to see. Go in the back or don't do it. 4. My last issue I had recently I ordered Veggie Fried Rice and I had a huge pebble/rock whatever you want to call it and cracked/chipped 2 of my back teeth. When I spit it out at home it was large enough for the naked eye to see (when they were preparing it when the rice was still white before the soy and the veggies) and it was dark grey so how someone couldn't have noticed I am not sure. So on top of the Fried Rice I had a nice bill from the dentist. I have also had pieces of bone and other assorted items in my dishes as well in the past but kept all my pearlies in tact... After the cracked teeth incident I will not be going back...this last incident was a little to expensive for me to risk again. I want to eat food not rocks and pebbles and I want to keep my teeth for a few more years. Take your chances...and make sure you have dental insurance. read more

This is the best Chinese in the area. It is very fast, it is very reasonable, and the portions are LARGE! I highly recommend any of their soups as an appetizer, my personal favorite is the chicken noodle. I like it so much I get an order to take home for the next day. And don't forget to finish your meal with almond cookies and a hot tea. My favorites are pretty much always the same empress chicken, Mongolian beef medium spicy, and chicken fried rice extra chicken. read more

Not to be confused with the other local restaurant with the same name, this is easily the best Chinese restaurant in the area. Outstanding food, friendly, prompt service, and they deliver! I'm gluten intolerant, so I called the day before, to make sure they could make a gluten free order. The person said yes and they would use gluten free soy sauce. The next day we placed a huge order, and were told it would be an hour wait. My husband went to pick it up and was told it would still be another 20 minutes. After 30 minutes they called me to say that none of my order could be made gluten free and they don't have gluten free soy or ponzu sauces. All they could offer was a few chicken dishes in a bland white sauce, when I wanted heat and flavor. At this point it doesn't matter if they have the best food ever. I can't enjoy it and it won't be the same for my family even if they have what I can't. If they had told me in advance that they can only make these few dishes for me, I would have ordered elsewhere. read more

This is my favorite restaurant. I always order the "usual", which consists of an appetizer (if you will) which is the beef sticks. Then, an order of the large chicken fried rice. I love the tea. Add a bit of Splenda and stir and you will be in heaven. I always try to get the very back booth. It's dark back there and really cool!!! You can still see everything, but I just love that dim restaurant feeling. Overall, it is a really cool place and you should go!!! read more

Nothing special. I've ordered from here a handful of times and never been impressed. We got the Mongolian beef and asked for it spicy, which it was not.
