The food was terrible! Very little flavor The General Tao's chicken was mearly sesame chicken without seeds plus hot peppers. The meat tasted like it was leftover refried to be served hot. The fried rice tasted burnt. There was no ambiance as it is a storefront (although some storefronts have great food). As for service, there was one lady running the place & a cook. We felt we were rushed out even though there were no other eat-in customers. We won't go back even though it is the only Chinese food we could find in Glenn Rose. read more

I was really curious to try this place, especially seeing that it had four stars which to me means it would be good. I was really surprised when I walked in the door and there were tables blocking the entrance with menus on them and the girl stood so far away, like she was afraid of me. This gave me really bad flashbacks of lockdowns and fear. I wanted to order the fried rice to try it and was informed it was an extra charge to have egg in the fried rice which to me I thought it was customary. We ordered eggrolls and we're really surprised when our egg rolls were cold inside, obviously frozen. The fried rice was mushy not typical of fried rice. We will not return, it just is not fit to be open in my opinion this restaurant is taking up space on the square and won't even allow you to sit down and eat. read more

Best Chinese place I've found in the Granbury area. Love the Shrimp Fried Rice. The egg rolls are better than anything up here in Granbury, they're average in the big picture. Last time I was there I got excellent service; the previous 2 times it was okay. The last time I was there was in a Friday afternoon, the previous 2 times was on a Sunday. I've already recommended this place to a few people. It's worth the drive to Glen Rose. read more

They offer a great value, and healthy fast choices for dinner, and Glen Rose has very few healthy choices for dinner, so I like to support the limited healthy food choices we do have! I was in the mood for some Asian food and this was the only place that came up in my search. The inside of the restaurant was very basic. Nothing to speak of. The menu had a variety of Chinese dishes. I ordered the General Tso's shrimp and steamed dumplings. The dumpling order was very large 8-10. The texture and mushy filling would suggest they were frozen. The shrimp was surprisingly better than I had expected. The shrimp was large and tasted fairly fresh. The veggies were a bit mushy. Either they were over cooked or frozen. The white rice was the most memorable part of the meal. The rice tasted old and mushy. I should have opted for the fried rice when they asked. I am not sure if I would return, but it's the only option if I want Asian food in the area. I do not know if I can recommend this place. Enjoy folks. read more

I went here based on the reviews and was less than impressed. Food had absolutely no flavor. I ordered a "spicy" specialty dish and it was just plain. Didn't even have a Chinese food flavor. Fantastic food and service. We are staying at Country Woods Inn and swung by here after being tourists. We ordered sweet and sour pork, chicken and cashews, chicken lo main kids meal and cheese wonton. Everything was made fresh to order. Plenty of chicken in the chicken and cashews too. Fresh Chinese food prepared like in the 90's but without the msg or grease. The fried shrimp is outstanding. Run of the mill Chinese restaurant. Portions are good sized. Fried rice was decent. Sesame chicken tastes a bit like ketchup.... Maybe because I watched them make it with ketchup. Delicious Chinese right here in Glen Rose. Lunch Specials are a great "take out" hot lunch option for less than $7. Garlic Beef & Garlic Chicken are "medium spicy", two of my favorites. I would prefer to rate China wok at 3.5 but to say four wold be over exaggerating. We went there for lunch and waited over 1 hour for our food and it wasn't that busy. From what I saw there were only two people there, one cook and one waitress. There was also confusion about who ordered what food by the waitress. Secondly, I had chicken and broccoli with an eggroll which I thought was really good. Portions were generous. My friends had shrimp in their meal and was not pleased with the brine taste. Additionally both were ill later that day. I have visited the China Wok in the past and didn't experience a long wait and the food was good. I think it all boils down to needing more help in the kitchen. I hope they do better next time. We'll see.... read more

So I called in for take out. Lady that answered was so very nice. Ordered sesame chicken and general tso's chicken both with fried rice. Huge portions. We had enough for 2 MORE meals. Price was on point. Great value. The fried rice was good but a little dry. I liked though that they put nicely sized chopped veggies in there. Sesame chicken was good. Hubby ordered that and the bite I had was perfect size and flavor. I had the general tso's chicken. Unfortunately I could not take more than one bite. It was waaaaaay too spicy....and I love spicy. I have had this dish many times at other restaurants and never once had it come out spicy. The chicken was almost coated in red peppers. Would go back definitely, Ill just request not spicy. Oh ..and I should've checked but there was no silverware, napkins or soy sauce in the bag. It's on the tables I just assumed a couple packets would be added. I'll check next time. Bag was soaked on the bottom of the bag with sauce. So much so that when the bag was lifted out of the car, the bottom literally dropped out. read more
