Chinatown Restaurant is pretty price. The food is not bad, but I won't eat it everyday. They have a good size dinning area for big groups.

We came here one night for our aunt's 80th birthday party. First off, the restaurant can be a little difficult to find because there is a big difference between Oak Street and Oak Street Extension. Anyway, the restaurant is very clean and I noticed that from the beginning. We were a rather larger party (8 of us), but we actually had our own side room and plenty of space for gifts. Our server was totally awesome; he joked with us and was very efficient with keeping the drinks coming. Everyone raved about the food -- from General Gao's Chicken to Lo Mein and several other dishes I can't remember. Me? I had steamed chicken with mixed vegetables, the "Diet Special" as listed on the menu. But it wasn't until I was almost done that I realized it was served without the scallion sauce on the side. Oh well. It was rather filling anyway and certainly much "healthier" than other dishes on the table. I took about half of it home because it was a lot of food. I don't particularly care for Chinese food, but when the craving hits, I will keep this on my short list. read more

The food is pretty good. However, they nickel and dime you for changes. What's worse, I was at dinner with 3 friends they overcharged us for our meal and they had the audacity to charge us gratuity. Standard for most restaurants is automatic gratuity for 6 or more. They assume that just because we are minorities we won't tip. They short changed themselves bc I always tip at minimum 20% and pay even more for great service. read more

Best Chinese food in the area! Had dinner there with my wife last night. Fresh ingredients prepared nicely. Egg roll was hot, spare ribs were cooked perfectly. The temperature in the restaurant was very comfortable. The pork fried rice was fluffy and moist cooked to perfection. Excellent lobster sauce and the chicken chow mein was delightful. Best crab rangoons around! Mai-Tai was perfect! The host couldn't have been more welcoming and the service we received was impeccable! The prices are very reasonable and the portions left us both with a full lunch for the next day. Do yourself a favor and disregard everything Mr. 1-star Marty S. has to say about anything. He is a rude, angry bully. Just read his other 1-star reviews and you will see exactly what I mean. His credibility rating is ZERO as far as I'm concerned. I've seen a couple of bad reviews about this place. I have to disagree. Every time I go in there, the staff are very friendly. They welcome me, talk to me, take my order and thank me for it and, if there's no one else on whom to wait, they converse with me while my food is prepared. Then, when they hand me the food, they thank me again for my business. Then, when I eat the food, it completes a great experience. Every time. I really like this place. read more

This place gets a bad rap but I'm not sure why. The staff is friendly and attentive, portions are generous, and the food is cooked fresh and brought to your table very quickly. I love the crunchy noodles, wonton soup, and so many of their delicious dishes but my favorite is the sesame chicken. I'm addicted!! read more

Paid almost 4 dollars for a quart of duck sauce for our chow mein. got home and there was no chow mein in the bag. I called, and he said i didn't get charged for it so it should be no problem. i was pretty mad because that was literally our dinner and i live in fall river, so it's not like i was going to drive all the way back. i got left with a few appetizers. to 'make it right' he said he'd give me the extra onions for free next time I came in. The foods OK, not great. I got the szechuan spicy shrimp the other day and the shrimp was noticeably rubbery. I spent the who meal wondering if i was going to get sick from it. We've ordered takeout from here about 5 times, 2 of which they got the order wrong. Most recently, we called to let them know we got a wrong item and they proceeded to argue with us and stated we got what we ordered. This was even after they had read the order back on the phone, and had seemingly got the order correct. The first time it happened, they delivered the correct item but made us give the wrong one back to the delivery guy. Not worth the headaches, we will not be ordering again. read more

I cannot encourage you enough to not order from here. I have never left a bad review in my life, even though I have had bad meals, nothing had ever inspired me to go as far as leaving a public bad review. Today I ordered over $100 worth of good from here. We normally go to Chinatown in Cobb's Corner and have never had a bad meal there. Since we had errands to run towards this location we decided to give it a try. We thought the food must be the same recipe as the other location. As soon as we got the food home we Sat down to eat. Food was cold, chicken was bitter and had a chemical taste to it. We immediately called the restaurant. we were told to come back after 6 when owner came in. We brought food back at 6. Owner was immediately rude and belligerent. Tried to explain what was wrong with the food. Owner proceded to stick his hands into the food and bring it up to his nose to smell. Rudely exclaimed there was nothing wrong with it and he cant simply just throw the return away. Refused to even settle for returning half of the price to us. Told my daughter to F**k off. This used to be a good place to get Chinese food. The egg rolls were always good but not anymore. They now put garlic in them and over cook the outside to a texture similar to a potato chip. These are not the egg rolls that were once so good. What a disappointment. The steak teriyaki was blandly seasoned and chewy. The egg foo yong had a gravy the consistency of wall paper paste. What the heck has happened to this restaurant? They used to have such good food but clearly the ingredients and the way the food is cooked has changed. China Town is a grade A restaurant serving the best food with the best service for the best price. I have been to Chinese restaurants from San Francisco to New York and this place does it better for less. The portions are abundant and the food is without peer in the area. We ordered takeout recently. The duck sause was rancid!!. I dont mean it didn't taste good, I mean it had gone bad. It smelled bad and had bubbles in it as if it were a carbonated soda. Clearly it had fermented. Probably not properly stored (ie refrigerated) in the 95 degree weather we had the past 2 days. When I called to get more, they did not seem interested in helping me. Talk about ruining a meal. Their attitude was worse than the duck sause. I have noticed a slow, steady decline in the quality of their food and service over the past year anyway. Chinatown, Brockton has lost a steady customer. The Chinatown restaurant is easy to get to, right off the main road, and set in a nice plaza. Every time we go there we are greeted nicely and seated immediately. Every waiter is so pleasant. All of the food items are always fresh, hot, and delicious. Their soups are a great start! Chinatown is my wife and I's favorite Chinese restaurant.
