Ok so I'm gonna try my best to leave a good review, but I will be honest. I was recommended this place from a good friend that lives in Brockton. The location is good, with lots of parking and easy access to the highway. I had ordered my food over the phone and the person who answered was polite. My first impression was that the restaurant was big and had your normal Chinese decor, but nothing stood out. I ordered two plates with pork fried rice, chicken fingers and crab Rangoon. I also ordered lo-mein. The rice was refried but did not taste fresh. The noodles were good, but extremely oily. The chicken fingers were good, and the rangoons as well. This place is local and usually my go-to spot when I don't feel like cooking (or my late night weekend spot)... As previously stated by others, they increased their prices SIGNIFICANTLY! To the point where I actually didn't order anything thing this time... So here's what what happened though lol. They have a new menu, it was lunchtime (noon) and I went to order from the new lunch menu (of course) and they told me that the lunch menu doesn't really exist.... HUH?! I was so confused. Then they explained to me that they have to have a lunch menu listed because of the set up of their menu... Makes absolutely no sense right?? So at noontime I have to order from the dinner menu??? Mind you you, the lunch prices increased as did the entire menu! Anyways, I thanked them and said I was all set! Drove 60 seconds down the street to China Chef and ordered from their lunch menu (which was wayyy cheaper). I'm not sure if I'll ever be back here. Best smoothie I've ever had. Genuinely. Lady behind the counter was nice and communication was clear and easy. The dining area was clean and comfortable. I got just a strawberry smoothie, it came out quick, and it was so delicious. My friends got a strawberry kiwi smoothie, and a strawberry banana smoothie, and had the same report on their drinks. IT's OK! A friend recommended the salt & spicy lobster. Very very tasty BUT small order for price & the lobster pcs did not include the lobster tail. I will not order that again! Mediocre food the first time I came. Second time I gave it a chance less than acceptable customer service on the phone. The woman told me they don't do combinations. I said okay so how much is it for 1 sm general gau chicken and 1 small low Mein was told $20, but questioned the menu pricing and asked why a $13 order was $20 with taxes . If i could give them a negative rating. I would. The owner is the one who served me and she was rude and impatient. When I called to place my order she hung up on me. So I had to go in and place my order. She rung up my food correctly but when I got my food it wasn't cooked to how the order was. Then when I tried to get my money back not only did she tell me no refund but didn't want to tell me why I couldn't get a refund when they don't have a no refund policy. I'm sad that all of the Vietnamese food is gone. But they kept a couple of the Pho soup recipes. I tried the pho with beef brisket etc. and the chicken pho. Both were spot on delicious just like before. Fresh herbs and beautifully fresh bean sprouts. I also got some chicken wings. They are some if the biggest in Brockton. They were perfectly fried. On a side note, you could tell that the oil was fresh. Unlike some of the Chinese food places in Brockton, they didn't taste funky from bad fry oil. So far, so good. Lastly, the owner was kind enough to sell me a couple of containers of pho broth for my husband. He had to follow a liquid diet for a day and craved pho broth. The owner didn't hesitate to help us out and made it affordable. Thank you John. I will definitely be back and try more menu items. read more

This use to be Pho A Dong a couple of months ago. You will be quite disappointed if expecting anything to be similar to the prior Vietnamese management. The menu and flavor is not that great. We ordered "tofu and chicken curry". When the dish came, we asked where was the chicken? Apparently, there's a mistype - it was meant to say tofu "or" chicken along with other dishes on the menu that had an "and" instead of the "or". If that wasn't bad enough, our Thai tea and Taro smoothie were overloaded with sugar! Clean and calm environment, friendly staff, ample private parking spot for customers. The Best CHINESE, VENTIAMENSE, THAI restaurant in Brockton.. might even be the best in the south shore ( I haven't tried all the Chinese restaurant in the south shore but you get the idea). Very good Asian takeout in Brockton and is really worth checking out. Don't bother trying to call ahead because he doesn't answer the phone, even if he is just standing there. Just walk in and order. Large diverse menu. They are as fast as you would expect. Chicken with black bean sauce is great. Best around. Try the beef teriyaki. Huge. Nothing is greasy or loaded with MSG. In the evenings, the dining room is unattended but you can bring your takeout to a table. Laid back, nice and clean. Good food. read more

I was told they had the best general gaus chicken awhile ago and I recall getting them and being spicy and good, but hadn't been back since and couldn't remember why, so my husband gave them another try last night and it was, well, meh, not at all worth while...General gaus chicken, too much breading and no kick to the sauce, rice is really mediocre, ribs are flavorless, even with the sauciness added to the ribs, but the beef teriyaki was okay...I did hear their seafood rice is amazing, but not sure if I want to try it now. read more

Stopped in today. When we arrived we were informed they converted to a take-out only restaurant (or more precisely, a counter order type place). So you can still eat there, but there is no table service. We then learned that they are mainly Chinese now, and no longer serve Pho. read more

This place is really good when it comes to the seafood. I'm a conscious eater(my family says I'm a picky eater but I refuse to label myself as such) meaning your establishment must be clean especially the bathroom (sanitation is everything)! With that being said the bathroom is well kept and since I'm a seafood lover that's what I eat at Johnny's. If you love seafood try the garlic and pepper shrimp! It's true the crab Rangoon is pretty good(if you like cream cheese) and the lobster is good but it doesn't always have a lot of meat to it you must have it the garlic and peppery way first and then venture out! John good time is my new favorite chinese food place right now, went there twice in a week after i discovered this place, the fried rice and chicken wings are the best in the town, other appetizers are on point. The dining environment is perfectly fine. Although the kitchen is a lil bit slow but this place is still my first chioce because of the quality of the food. Very clean place and welcoming but the food just was not good at all

Meh. I had a mysterious dish called tropical chicken which I thought maybe would have some mango or something but it was all veggies with so some slices of chicken . The dish itself didn't taste bad. My husband had General Tso's chicken which unfortunately was made with what seemed to be the unusable pieces of chicken from their other dishes! I guess people figure you can fry anything and it will taste good. It just tasted odd and off, even the pork fried rice. This was the problem with ichiban also. The only place that used good white meat in their fried/breaded chicken dishes was Cheng Feng, God I miss that place! Iced coffee I enjoyed but hubby did not. I should have known own that any place that purports to be Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, AND Thai will have problems. They appeared to have some authentic Chinese dishes (stuff I wouldn't order ~spicy boiled fish or beef?) and those may actually be good for those who like real Chinese food. This was my first time and it was delicious. Almost as good as my regular Chinatown hangouts. Seeing this was my first time I went with and order of Spicy and Salted Pork Chops. Because it was takeout, it was not as crispy as I would have liked but very tasty nevertheless. Good amount of heat from the peppers. I also had an order it Broccoli with Garlic Sauce. Cooked nicely so that the vegetables was still firm and delicious. Quite garlicky actually. We purchased some food there a couple weeks ago,we found a fly in our food. It is was the Singapore rice noodles. We asked for coconut shrimp,they gave us fried shrimp with a nasty coconut sauce in a cup. I would not recommend that place to anybody. read more

we ordered here today for an office party, eight people. Most disgusting Chinese food we've ever had in our lives. Not only was the food gross, and made us all feel sick after we ate it, the customer service at this place is by far the worst I have EVER encountered. When we received our order, it was wrong, and they had clearly dropped one of our bags because all the styrofoam containers were broken and spilled. I could have looked past the mess if the owner of this places wasn't the rudest man I've ever spoken with in my entire life. We called to let him know that they had messed up the order, and we wanted them to fix it. when I asked to talk to a manager, I was told there weren't any managers and they hung up the phone on me without letting me speak again. When I called back right away, I spoke with the same man, and found out he was the owner, furious I explained to him the situation and he refused to acknowledge their mistakes, didn't replace our food or give us the food we PAID FOR AND WAS MISSING FROM OUR ORDER. most unprofessional establishment I've ever come across. Went there yesterday for lunch and ordered Pho. It was dreadful!! When we ordered we were told they had no bean sprouts. Really an Asian restaurant, no bean sprouts? There are three grocery stores within a half mile of the place and there is a Market Basket a little further away. We also ordered tea which was a pot of barely hot water and a tea bag. With the soup we got two small sprigs of basil and two lime slices. I asked for hot peppers and they were mushy nasty tasting things out of a jar. The only reason I went there was I thought the previous owners may have taught them their recipe for Pho. Never again read more

i come here all the time & the manger is legit the best guy ever! he is extremely nice and he is very respectable! The food here is amazing and its ALWAYS made perfectly :) i see some reviews that are not so great & for all the people who didn't have a good experience I'm sorry. But i truly cannot see the owner being rude! he has NEVER disrespected us or never messed up our order!! i don't say all these things just to make it seem like its a great place but it really is a great place! all the other chinese food places i have been to (panda express, Jade leaf, And china chef, oh and that place in the Westgate mall) they are ALL disgusting i will NEVER go anywhere else but John Goodtime!
