This is now our second time coming and it didn't disappoint. The owner Joann is an angel, the sweetest and most hard working lady ever. There was a bit of a wait but we knew the wait would be worth it. Joann makes sure you will not leave hungry! Portions are HUGE! Had enough for dinner and then 3/4 more lunch portions! 5/5 My family and I were looking for something fast and warm to eat, and we stumbled across Chinatown Express here on Yelp. Let me just say--the reviews weren't lying! This place is pretty darn good. The lady who helped us was so friendly and welcoming. She asked what we liked, whether we enjoyed spicy food, and even gave us great suggestions based on that. You don't get service like that everywhere! And the portions? Huge. Good thing we showed up hungry because they definitely don't hold back. The food itself was delicious--so good that even my kids loved it, and they're extremely picky eaters. That alone gets extra points! Service was quick, the place is on the smaller side, but it has a really cozy, good-vibe atmosphere. If you're craving quality American Chinese food, I'd highly recommend giving this spot a try. The lady who owns the place is an absolute angel, the kindest lady you will ever meet that will make sure you are very fell wed! The restaurant is clean and has seating, the ambiance is what you'd expect- just a nice fast food Chinese restaurant, and the food is super plentiful, hot, and delicious! 10/10 She gave my fiancée a free fruit tea and egg rolls during our short wait! I always crave Chinese food from this place. I tried it a few years back and i love it! This place is THE hidden gem of chinese food in La Habra. The owner is soooo sweet and friendly. I highly recommend trying the food here. They always cook everything fresh and if they're out of something, she'll ask the cooks to start making it for you ASAP. The chicken is always soooo yummy. Every time we walk through the door we are greeted with "hi sister or hi brother". There's always a line, and I know why. Excellent customer service and the food is tasty too. The are Always making sure the food is hot. The portions are extremely generous. As a family of 5 we share 2 combo meals and sister always gives us more! This place is hands down one of the best Chinese foods I have tried, the orange chicken was a very crispy as well as flavorful. The service was fantastic as well, it was my first time being there and the feeling of being there just felt very welcoming, they had given some extra items to take and honeslty I couldn't be more thankful for Joanna. The ambiance again feels welcoming, and again for the food the chicken was good it dint feel like it had a lot of oil it felt really clean and good. The honey chicken I would say if you mix it with the jalapeño chicken it's such a good combo with the white rice as well. As you can see I really enjoyed the spot and would highly recommend this spot. 10/10 recommend read more

Nothing that I tried when I finally got my order was worth the hour wait. Second in line, but had to wait for the one employee to take everyone's order that came in after me. She was not organized so she kept working on plates in random order. I couldn't comprehend how she was serving the orders, all I wanted was white rice chow mein and vegetables...she gave me extra stuff that I didnt care to eat or try. Just wanted to pick up a simple plate of food. She was insisting she was making me a free drink, I just wanted her to bag the plate so I could leave. Omg, the owner is so amazing and sweet. She is just like a grandmother everyone wishes for. I came in for the first time with my wife and son. We ordered 3 plates, and she asked if my son was hungry. If you want a huge combo, this is the place for you- 5 stars for value. Order a 2 entree combo and the lady throws in another entree for you to try. Very generous with the portions, you can feed a family of 3 with that 2 item combo. Typical steam plate Chinese food with some tables but most patrons were taking out. As for the food, I was not impressed. I was not fond of the fried rice. It was kind of like broken rice dressed up and dry. I had the mushroom chicken and the kung pao and the flavor profiles were similar. The broccoli beef was okay. I'm glad I tried it because the reviews are stellar but I doubt I'll be back. read more

This place has everything you're looking for it's extremely hospitable, the owners of the ones making and serving the food and their heart and their incredible generosity come through in their food and their service. The prices are super fair and the food is so fresh and tasty. Do not be off put By the way the place looks in the shopping center. This is one of those gem places that you've been looking for!!! Our first time trying this place and we were very happy with the customer service ( Joanne and her staff). We did wait in line for about 20 mins before we ordered. I know, usually I wouldn't stay, but we had nowhere else to be and they were obviously busy. On that note, we ordered a three item combo with chow mein, fried rice, orange chicken, kung pao and shrimp chop suey. Hearty servings and tasty except for the orange chicken. I was disappointed that the chicken was not edible, very chewy and hard. Luckily everything else made up for it. Not sure if its usually like that, but if we go back, I will not be ordering it. Joanne was kind enough to give us egg rolls and the doughy bean sesame rolls on the house. The egg rolls were yummy. The bean rolls, different but good. We will back to try the other options of food. I never write reviews...but wow. I ordered a 2 item plate. It comes with chow mein or rice. I got chow mein, broccoli beef, and orange chicken. The lady helping me was more than generous with the portions. After the box was overflowing, she even added in chicken on top, I didn't even ask. So nice. It was all really tasty and seemed fresh. I also ordered 1 order of egg rolls, supposed to come with 2. She gave me 5, and even threw in some sweet sesame balls. After all of that, she thanked me for waiting and went back and made me a boba drink. So much extra for free, didn't even ask! Their firecracker chicken, orange chicken, kung pow chicken are all good and the egg rolls they give as part of the combos are the highlight of the meal for sure. The past couple of times I have gone they were still stocking the drinks in the ice bin so when they asked me to take a drink as part of the combo each time they had not stocked any of the sugar free sodas. I mentioned to them if they had a diet soda I would take one and they just stonewalled me and didn't reach over to the stack of cases of diet soda along the wall of the restaurant. So yeah, not the most helpful of service sometimes. I think it might be because they are always so busy and they have one speed where you don't stop to smell the roses and make that connection, but at least you can say that they keep the line moving.

Be prepared for the freebies (drink and egg roll) while you wait. Service:Even though her english is limited the cashier/boss lady is really giving and humble.On my visit The boss lady came out and gave my kids compliments and a desert. Cleanliness: The restaurant is very clean. With some patience since this restaurant is freshly new in the community I believe they will be here for good. This is the only Chinese food place I go to! I came here cause the yelp reviews were really good so me and my fiancé tried it. The Chinese lady ( I need to get her name next time I go ) is the sweetest lady with great customer service and hospitality! She always gives us a lot of food and doesn't skimp us at all. There was a wide selection of ten veggies, and nine different sauces to select from or mix. The bowl also comes with a large serving of noodles or steamed rice. Once you have selected all of your ingredients, they cook it up on the griddle and bring it to your table. The bowl was good, but it was heavy on the noodles and not as much on the meat. You can order extra meat for $2.75 which I would definitely do next time. The kind woman at the register brought us some chile oil so we could kick up the heat on our bowls. It was definitely filling, and I took a portion home for later. The staff was friendly, delivered our cooked food to our table, and cleared the table immediately after we got up to leave. I would normally give this place four stars, but it was very hot outside, and with no air conditioning, it was uncomfortably hot inside also. I don't know if this is a permanent situation, but I wouldn't return on a hot day.
