5/5 My family and I were looking for something fast and warm to eat, and we stumbled across Chinatown Express here on Yelp. Let me just say--the reviews weren't lying! This place is pretty darn good. The lady who helped us was so friendly and welcoming. She asked what we liked, whether we enjoyed spicy food, and even gave us great suggestions based on that. You don't get service like that everywhere! And the portions? Huge. Good thing we showed up hungry because they definitely don't hold back. The food itself was delicious--so good that even my kids loved it, and they're extremely picky eaters. That alone gets extra points! Service was quick, the place is on the smaller side, but it has a really cozy, good-vibe atmosphere. If you're craving quality American Chinese food, I'd highly recommend giving this spot a try. We'll definitely be back!

She's so sweet and humble the nicest woman ever to run a business and is so giving to everyone. There is no one like her. The food is amazing and cooked with love. Super clean. I wish I could give her a 10 star!!!! You leave either a smile on your face.

Never met Such a sweet lady ! You can just tell that she cares about her customers and about her food. It can get a little busy but it's worth the wait. My favorite is the fried rice & bbq pork but the pork was all sold out !

This place is hands down one of the best Chinese foods I have tried, the orange chicken was a very crispy as well as flavorful. The service was fantastic as well, it was my first time being there and the feeling of being there just felt very welcoming, they had given some extra items to take and honeslty I couldn't be more thankful for Joanna. The ambiance again feels welcoming, and again for the food the chicken was good it dint feel like it had a lot of oil it felt really clean and good. The honey chicken I would say if you mix it with the jalapeño chicken it's such a good combo with the white rice as well. As you can see I really enjoyed the spot and would highly recommend this spot. 10/10 recommend

I always crave Chinese food from this place. I tried it a few years back and i love it! This place is THE hidden gem of chinese food in La Habra. The owner is soooo sweet and friendly. I highly recommend trying the food here. They always cook everything fresh and if they're out of something, she'll ask the cooks to start making it for you ASAP. The chicken is always soooo yummy. Her sauces and recipes are always the same and delicious. again, I highly recommend stopping by and trying their yummy and PERFECT chinese food!!!

THE LADY IS SO NICE V very sweet lady and really awesome and kind and welcoming. I love it here.

Tonight I willingly entered a 45-minute culinary waiting room at Chinatown Express. Four orders ahead of me... wait, maybe five. Time moving at the speed of steamed rice. I aged slightly. Zero regrets. After days of Christmas leftovers and polite meals pretending to still be exciting, this was the most welcome change of pace. I left victorious with chow mein, beef and broccoli, orange chicken, kung pao chicken, and egg rolls and let me tell you... this was not food. This was a reset. A reward. A reminder that happiness can, in fact, come in a foam takeout container. Every bite was fresh, hot, and doing exactly what great Chinese takeout should do: restoring balance to your soul and making you forget you ever smiled politely at dry holiday ham. Yes, the wait was long. Yes, I questioned my life choices around minute 23 and briefly considered ordering snacks elsewhere. But the payoff? Absolutely worth it. Chinatown Express stays consistent where it matters most. The food is always fresh, always delicious, and somehow tastes like it was made just for you, not panic-cooked under pressure. The owners are friendly, generous, and genuinely kind. The place is always clean, the vibes are welcoming, and even when it's packed, they move with purpose, not chaos... like people who know they're worth the wait. And the best part? $20 fed me and my kiddo, with a full plate set aside for lunch tomorrow. That's dinner, bonding time, and future-me gratitude all in one order. If you're in a rush, plan ahead. If you want food that hits every single time and saves you from another round of holiday leftovers, bring your patience and prepare to be fed properly. I'd wait again. And again. And probably longer next time.

Always the best!! Johanna is amazing- so sweet!! Always throws something extra in there for us to try! Love the orange chicken, teriyaki chicken, broccoli beef. Quantity is MASSIVE... yum

I went in 10 minutes before closing and there was a lovely lady working and she was so welcoming and nice the food is a 10/10 the servings are very generous!! I definitely recommend coming here. Well worth the money I will definitely be a forever customer.

Our first time trying this place and we were very happy with the customer service ( Joanne and her staff). We did wait in line for about 20 mins before we ordered. I know, usually I wouldn't stay, but we had nowhere else to be and they were obviously busy. On that note, we ordered a three item combo with chow mein, fried rice, orange chicken, kung pao and shrimp chop suey. Hearty servings and tasty except for the orange chicken. I was disappointed that the chicken was not edible, very chewy and hard. Luckily everything else made up for it. Not sure if its usually like that, but if we go back, I will not be ordering it. Joanne was kind enough to give us egg rolls and the doughy bean sesame rolls on the house. The egg rolls were yummy. The bean rolls, different but good. We will back to try the other options of food. Thank you, Joanne, for your welcoming service.

When will this place re-open? I miss their food 😩

As of today 6-16-2020 at 11am, they are open again and serving delicious food!!

I have passed by this place and I am assuming it is closed due to Covid19? No sign of anything. When will they reopen?…

Yup they just reopened today 6-16-2020!!

What type of bread do they bake fresh (it's on their sign)?

Does anyone know if they use MSG in their food? (Monosodium Glutamate)

I don't think so. I think I know the taste of MSG and I don't really detect it here.

Also, this is the 3rd time where I go around 6-6:30 and I'm told no more white rice and they will have more tomorrow. Respectfully I'm not coming tomorrow for just white rice. The entire line was filled with fresh food but no white rice. Do they stop making white rice because they close in 2-3 hours? If so; I don't think they should be doing that; make a smaller batch of white rice for dinner rush. So I went over the hill to get Panda Express. They had white rice.

The flavor fell flat and definitely can use some more seasoning. I don't think I would order that again. Beef onion dumplings were good, perhaps pan fried is a better option, steamed ones were bland unless you use chili oil. The onion pancake, this was good, however it was super flat and NOT worth $9!
