I'm just gonna say one thing, I came in on Thursday and it was the older gentleman and I was stoked. This gentleman is an old school gentleman. The food he cooks is spot on for some reason. I can't explain the beautiful burnt flavor he's able to get from his seasoned wok but it's otherworldly. I would pay big money for this guy's wok. I don't know, I guess I gotta give credit where credits due. This elderly Asian guy knows how to knock it out of the park. I respect anybody with cooking skills because I have them too. I never thought I'd be leaving a bad review for this place but in this case it warrants one. I'm under the impression that it has changed ownership and as a result the food quality has gone downhill. I ordered orange chicken, steamed rice and chow mein and from the moment I took my first bite the food tasted different. It wasn't until I got home that I started to feel nauseous and I've been running to the bathroom every 20 minutes! I've been coming to Ho Ho china for almost 30 years and not once have I gotten sick from eating here, that is until today. I will not be returning again!! My son's school athletics banquet featured their food and I loved it so much I went to have lunch there two days later. The staff there were so kind and the flavor and quality of their food is unlike any other Chinese take out in the area. I highly recommend folks in La Habra and East Whittier who haven't tried them try them. The noodles there have a nice smoky flavor to them and the beef they use in their beef dishes is quality beef and not the mystery mincemeat you might find at other places. Great tasting food, very reasonable price, the food to gos are very good quantity ~ they give very generously. My favorites are the Salted Pepper Fish - no fishy taste, Chowmein, & Chopsuey. Had the two item combo B. Value to quantity very very high. I ordered chow-mien white rice pepper beef and orange chicken. Well the container felt like a 5lbs of food. Service is super quick as and the staff is cordial. So what about the food? Well I did get there 15 mins before closing so quality was a bit low. The chow mien tasted a little burnt. Not bad but I don't think noodles are supposed to have a char. The pepper beef was super peppered and spicy which over powered the dish. The orange chicken was tasty but was missing crunch which again I was there late in the day. I do hope to stop by again and give Ho Ho another shot. read more

Most likely gonna stick with Twin Dragon for my Chinese food fix but had to give it a try. Mushroom chicken was mushy & fried rice was a little dry. I loved coming here. I believe their noodles, fried rice and broccoli beef is delicious. At one point I loved their orange chicken. But lately their orange chicken has been hard! Why is it hard? Over cooked chicken, refried old chicken? I don't know. But that used to be my favorite item but now I'm looking else where. Don't get me wrong, the service is great. Large portions. I can order two 3 item plates and feed my family of six! But their orange chicken is just not to par. Hope they fix this and get their customers back. I have been coming to Ho-Ho China for many years and have tried just about everything on the menu. It's definitely a mom-pop fast food Chinese Food. This is a place where you order at the counter make your selection from the glass counter. Select from orange chicken, chicken curry, spicy chicken, eggplan, mixed vegetables kung pao, pepper chicken, chicken with green beans bbq ckicken or bbq pork any of these can be combine with the typical rice and chow mein noodles, in the different combinations such as: 1 item, 2 items with a drink or 3 items you can take it to go or dine at the establishment. The reason that keeps me returning to this place it's the food. It's fresh and not oily or soggy noodles. (not here). This year I tried the tofu-eggplant for the 1st time on my sister recommendation it was delish and healthy. The portions here are big, and are good enough for 2 people. The Ho-Ho combo, includes a drink, you can't go wrong with this option it feeds 2 people for under $7.50. it's great on the wallet and is yummy for my tummy! I usually I like to order the chicken with green beans and my coworker likes to get the chicken-curry of course both of these are paired with the typical rice and noodles combination.
