I randomly stumbled into Dumpling Queen with a friend and we were actually shocked by how yummy it was. Everything was next-level delicious and clearly made fresh... I literally watched someone making the dumplings. That alone deserves a star. The staff was incredibly kind and made the whole experience even better by offering menu recommendations. They were so sweet too when I asked if I could record. The cucumber salad??? Unreal. So crunchy, so fresh, zero chance those cucumbers had been sitting around lol, it was my favorite. Finally tried this place, ordered the Orange chicken, beef opinion dumplings and onion pancake. Orange chicken wasn't what I was expecting flavor wise. The flavor fell flat and definitely can use some more seasoning. I don't think I would order that again. Beef onion dumplings were good, perhaps pan fried is a better option, steamed ones were bland unless you use chili oil. The onion pancake, this was good, however it was super flat and NOT worth $9! Looked more like a cut up quesadilla, matter of fact I've had tastier cheese less quesadillas Place was clean and tidy, however it's okay to engage with your customers and offer a smile, it's free! Been wanting to come here since it first opened, finally made it in today. When they first opened I believe the menu was smaller, now they have many items other than dumplings, which I guess makes sense, to have options for people not interested in the dumplings that day, I went in for lunch by myself, when I saw the menu I started to feel greedy. I know I'll need to come back with friends so we can share. I settled on the pork potstickers. I immediately knew I'd have to come back- they were delicious. And the plate came with 12. I ate every single one and I'm not ashamed. They gave a little trio of sauces on the table, I heard they charge extra if you use them. I didn't notice. There's a chili oil, a garlic sauce and some sort of house made concoction that i think has garlic and soy sauce and something else- it was delicious BUT in my hopeless American fashion I would have liked to have just plain soy sauce and I was too embarrassed to ask for it. I guess that's why take out is a good thing sometimes. One other plus: I got to meet The Dumpling Queen!! She brought me my potstickers and then came back over later to chat. She's adorable & has got the magic hands! The service was good and friendly, it's not a traditional ordering situation though - they have the QR on the table - I guess that's one way they can mange serving all the tables with a small staff. This is my 2nd time here and the dumplings are great. My 1 comment for the chili oil dumplings is having more chili oil. I'll still come back for them. BUT it's hard to enjoy the food as much if I'm needing to wait over 30 minutes (Mind you I was the very 1st person to order when they opened), and I'm seeing 3 orders be finished and served ahead of mine. I was told it's taking THIS long cause the beef onion (Queen style, pan fried) takes longer but this is a bit frustrating. We started the new year off correct with finally trying out Dumpling Queen! I've been dying to check out Dumpling Queen solely for their shrimp and chive dumplings. I took advantage of a rainy day to get some comfort foods. We were the first ones in when they opened and they were ready and opened for business. I had my heart set on the chive and shrimp dumplings, but we also ended up ordering the vegetarian dumplings, a cucumber salad and beef and broccoli. The dumplings came out surprisingly fast and perfectly seasoned. It was in order of 12 for around $13 which is a pretty good deal in my opinion. The dumplings which should be the star of this place were overly dissapointing- the dumplings were thick and the filling was a joke. Usually shrimp & pork dumplings filling is minced- not here!! A whole little shrimp & piece of pork chunck meat was inside it- Wth? The flavor was not good at all & I dare say the pork meat was not fresh. After we partially ate our food I asked for a to go -box. I had an entire plate of chow mein & 9 dumplings yet she gave me 1 box- When she brought my bill there was a $1 charge for "sauce". When I went up to the counter to pay my bill I asked what that charge was & she told me it was for the dumpling sauce- I told her she didn't give me sauce- she only brought a platter of dumplings- She told me I used the sauce on the table and that was the fee I was being charged- Again WTF?? This local dumpling house is located in a nice strip center and has ample seating. Good atmosphere and you can see them making the dumplings by hand. Server was very attentive and friendly. We received our food in good time and it was all tasty, fresh from the kitchen and made very well. The dumplings were juicy and had lots of filling. Our scallion pancakes were crispy and flaky but not greasy. Although we like our cucumber salad more tangy and spicy it was still enjoyable with good flavor. The sauces that come with the dumplings are delicious. I'd pass on the non-dumpling things on their menu. Came and ordered a to go order tonight. Was told 10-15 min. A few minutes later another couple came in to dine in. They looked at menu and ordered a few minutes later. Here I sit 25 minutes later no food, and the couple how came and ordered after I did has all their food including, a couple items we ordered. The lady working the front was extremely rude. I had asked a question about the menu because I thought I had seen there were combos online. She immediately had an attitude with me saying I was wrong and that had never existed. It was my first time here so that's pretty much why I was asking if they had a combo to begin with. I ordered and she continued to have an extremely bad attitude with me the rest of the time ordering and paying. I sat down at a table to wait for my food, and some time later as I was eating, she stormed up to the table and moved all of our food around to remove a menu that was on the table. The cucumber appetizer had a cool and fresh bite to it, it had spicy peanuts and although I'm not a fan of savory peanuts, complimented the garlicky cucumbers so well. Stopped by for a quick lunch in Whittier and Dumpling Queen didn't disappoint! We tried the Liang Pi salad, cucumber salad and cabbage and pork dumplings. The dumplings as the restaurants name suggests were the star and were perfectly chewy and crispy with a delicious filling. Loved the garlic soy, chili and sweet chili I believe sauces served on the side. Pretty cool to see them making them fresh from the open kitchen as well! Last couple times I've only ordered take out. This is my first time dining in. I noticed the menu items have increased /changed since I came here. They've added a variety of dishes to compliment the food . Their specialty is, of course the dumplings. (House made dumpling skin) However, the new dishes offer a more complete meal experience. Tonight we ordered: (for 4 people) 1. Pan fried dumplings- crispy outside , juicy inside (12pieces) 2. Pork and cabbage steamed dumplings- juicy inside tasty filling (12pieces) 3. Mapo tofu ( mild) -good meat flavor to the sauce base with soft tofu 4. Orange chicken- nice flavor with a bite size of chicken meat 5. Broccoli beef- beef was very tender 6. Scallion pie - thin and crispy ! 7. Noodles w beef- perfectly chewy noodles There was decent amount of food served and although we tried to finish it all ... had to ask for take home containers. I said, can i get another one, since i order 3 stuff. She does not look please. I said the other lady always gives two. There is a phrase that Chinese people use, "There is Mama's flavor". I use to hear it in food commercials. It's to represent home cook, hearty, comfort food. This is the type of food you will get here. Upon searching for some Chinese dumplings in the area, this new location popped up. Didn't want to drive too far, and wanted something authentic. Luckily, we found this place, located in a unassuming strip mall. Once you step inside, has modern decor, warm low lighting, and the smell of freshly cooked dumplings. This place is priced reasonably for a dozen dumplings between the price $12.99+, other dishes between $7.99-16.99. This time we tried their Shrimp dumplings, Pork dumplings, fried dumplings, Dan Dan noodle, popcorn chicken, Mongolian beef, and Braised string beans. Each dish was just how I remembered eating throughout my life at little eateries in Taiwan. A simple menu, a simple ordering form, but the flavors were anything but simple. I would prefer this place over other local dumpling locations for the fact that the skin was thicker, and it's the Chinese version of dumpling, not the Korean style that you get in La Mirada/Buena Park areas. This is more of a matter of taste, I just prefer this version. The flavors weren't overbearing, tasted fresh, and portions were good. Service was friendly, and quick. There might be a slight English language barrier, but the ladies are sweet and feel like you're being taken care of by your aunties and grandmother. If you want some authentic Chinese dumplings, simple to order, no hassle, no crazy cost. Extra Note : I took the food to-go. Everything was fine, but I think the Fried Dumplings would be better in the restaurant. The food here is decent, but overall, the food here is very overpriced for what you get. They get away with it because most of their customers are not Chinese, and they aren't aware of the much lower food costs. Entrees are around $14-$20 and the portions are definitely on the smaller side. They don't fill the plate full and the plate isn't large or normal sized like other Chinese restaurants. The dumplings were okay. They could have been cooked maybe 2 minutes longer. They are also overpriced. Since they're pre-made, there's no option to adjust for taste or dietary preferences. There were a few cleanliness and quality concerns. The dumpling sauce container was not cleaned, and the garlic inside made it difficult for the sauce to come out. The water was served in a plastic container and had small particles in it, which concerned me. The cups and bowls were plastic, and the black spoons/forks and bamboo chopsticks felt very cheap. Service was mixed. The owner/manager frequently came by to clear dishes, which was fine, but the front restaurant was short-staffed (1 person doing cashier, waitressing, delivering orders) even with just 4-5 tables. At the end, we were asked unnecessary questions about where we're from, if we lived close to the restaurant, which felt uncomfortable since there was no normal conversation before the questions. After leaving a tip, there wasn't any appreciation shown, and we didn't receive any warm goodbye at all when we left. They close mid-day and reopen at 4:30pm. When we arrived right at reopening, staff were just starting their shifts between 4:30-4:45 and didn't seem fully ready to handle orders yet, which made it feel like customers were waiting on them rather than the other way around. Overall, the food is decent, but between the pricing, portion sizes, service, and cleanliness issues, I don't feel it offers good value for the price. read more

I'm back with a follow-up because unfortunately, the issues continue. This time it's the condiments -- specifically chili oil and sauces that are essential to enjoying dumplings. For a while, they would simply forget to include them. Annoying, but manageable if you catch it in time. Now they've introduced a new policy where condiments are charged per unit at the point of payment. Fine -- businesses change policies. But what makes this frustrating is that even after charging for them, they still forget to include the items. Being charged for something and then not receiving it is unacceptable. This comes on top of an ongoing issue where the menu keeps changing, causing confusion when ordering, and orders are frequently incorrect. It feels disorganized and poorly executed. The reason we keep coming back is because the food itself is genuinely very good. The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. But the front-of-house execution and attention to detail are consistently lacking, and it takes away from the experience every single time. Good food can only carry a place so far. Customer service, accuracy, and basic order fulfillment matter -- especially when you're charging extra for items. I've been receiving Yelp recommendations for this spot and decided to stop in. The restaurant was esthetically pleasing and staff polite, friendly, and attentive. It was first time so the hostess that took my order was nice enough to recommend some items. I ended up ordering Pan Fried Pork Dumplings and Yangzhou Fried Rice. Both dishes were incredible and just full of flavors. She also gave me some sauces for the Dumplings that just added another layer of flavors. Stopped by this place on our walk. Honestly I'm so glad I did. This place does close earlier around 4pm. However, yummy food. We got the chili oil dumplings, Beef onion dumplings , Pan fried chive and shrimp, and orange chicken to play it safe. The food took a while but the waitress primed us as it is made fresh. My fiance and I ordered hungry but it was more than enough and got yummy leftovers. All three were soo good! I would say chili is my favorite but all worth it! This was the second time coming here with my family. We love the food but unfortunately the service is really bad. Very disorganized, they need more help, and customer service skills just aren't there. I sat down for a while and no one came to the table. Finally got up and got menu for myself. Put our order in and everything came out separate over about 30 mins time span. I had asked for steam rice after placing my order and the lady brought it out and we started eating it. About 5 mins later she came to the table and picked up the bowl of rice and took it back. I went and asked why she took it and she said you didn't order it. lol. They brought out all out of meat dishes and then rice like 15 mins later and noodles another 10 mins later. We like the restaurant and just hope they can fix these issues. I don't even know if they see it as a problem because no one apologized or acknowledged the issue. Hope this review helps them improve because otherwise it's a good restaurant. I don't like leaving bad reviews so here goes. We ordered about 8 dishes tonight (orange chicken, Dan Dan noodles, 2 order of dumplings, fried rice, honey walnut shrimp, beef roll). The portions are more on the small side, and we honestly didn't care for any of the dishes. The Dan Dan noodles esp were almost inedible. They were especially bland and tasted like unsalted butter. The worst I've ever had. The beef roll tasted lukewarm and stale. We all ended up with stomach aches after and were pretty disappointed. Maybe it's because of the area? Regardless we had a lot of leftover food and ended up tossing it. :( Go to San Gabriel or Rowland heights if you want good Asian food. Please do better dumpling queen. read more
