First time visiting for a to-go order. General Tao Chicken was crispy with good sauce along with spicy green beans and veggie egg foo yung. Lo mein was okay. Serving sizes are large, almost family style. I do live very close so food wasn't soggy when I got home. I'd recommend eating there if you are more than 5 mins away. Since the new owners took over the food quality has gone down. Mongolian Beef was dry and not as tender and flavorful as before. The shrimp in the House Special Chow Fun was not very fresh and mealy. Also lacking in flavor. The sweet and sour pork was decent enough. Such a shame. It was the most authentic Chinese food In Whittier that I could find. I won't go to the buffet/hot table style restaurants. Those other two on Whittier blvd. between Colima Rd. and Beach Blvd leave much to be desired. The Kung Pao Shrimp took me back to 94. The egg foo young, house fried rice and Chicken shop suey were so delicious . None of the food had any commercial flavors, this is truly a Gem. As soon as we entered, the same woman who I assume was the owner asked if we "had an appointment." There were literally 2 tables with customers with another 10 at least free. Came here on a Friday around 12:45pm. The ambiance is very calm, no music. You are welcomed by the host, who is also the server. She asked if we were picking up or dinning in. If we preferred a booth or a table. She greeted with a smile. There was one other group at the restaurant. Food: Orange chicken is a MUST! Full of flavor. You could tell it was freshly prepared and was warm when it came to the table. Plenty of chicken. Sizzling Black Pepper Fillet Mignon was AMAZING! plenty of meat for 2-3 people. The price was exceptional. It was a bit spicy due to the peppery kick, but savory nonetheless. Kung Pao Three Flavor, my least favorite dish, only because there was a buttery brown sauce which homogenized the ingredients. Ordered a side of steamed rice to pair nicely with all the meats. Honestly it was all amazing! It fed three of us and is reasonable priced, for the generous amount of food. We did have left overs to take home.
