My husband and I are new to the area and were looking for a good chinese food restaurant. We tried the chinese kitchen after reading the reviews. We were not happy. I placed the order over the internet and when my husband went to pick it up it wasnt ready, they hadnt even recieved the order even though I got an email confirming it. We were not happy with the food. I will give them that it was hot and fresh but overall taste was "ok" Neither one of us like the crab rangoon it was probably the most disappointing of the entire meal. Fast, and yummy! Close to home, so that is definitely a plus. Crab Rangoon, won ton soup, and beef broccoli! Some grease, some fresh crisp flavors- everything you expect from a decent Chinese take out place. Bonus- if you like drinking the restaurant has drinks. They have the typical Chinese take out food and a separate Chinese menu. Their Cantonese dishes are delicious! I love the snow pea leaves, walnut shrimp and the best Chinese noodles. The Chinese fried chicken is delicious too but you have order hours in advance. Quality of service depends. We had great service when dining in though the old lady at the front desk sometimes isn't friendly. We also ordered takeout before and sometimes they were rude. If you're looking for pretty authentic Chinese food this place is the best one in town. I think even better than some of the typical Chinese restaurants in Chinatown N.Y.C. read more

Very disappointing experience tonight. Ordered dinner for 2 people. When it finally arrived after an hour, one meal was correct, the other was totally the wrong food. Called the restaurant and let them know what happened and was told they had been having computer problems all night and a replacement would be sent. Not ideal, but mistakes happen. We were then called back by someone else at the restaurant to tell us that they would NOT do anything to make this right and that we were at fault and we got what we ordered. We explained that one entire meal would have to go into the garbage and one person go hungry, obviously we would not have ordered these items, and the previous person already acknowledged computer problems. The restaurant person became belligerent and disrespectful, at which point there was clearly no further point in discussion. We will be reporting the fraudulent charge to our bank, and finding a new place to order from. read more

Authentic Chinese food in an area with very little of it. There's all the usual Americanized Chinese food, if that's what you're craving, but also authentic options (beef stomach, fish stew, etc.). Friendly staff and a clean, bright, welcoming interior that is belied by the simple, somewhat run down exterior. read more

The crab Rangoon was stuffed full of crab & cheese. The rice was delicious. The teriaki chicken was quite moist, as opposed to dry & rubbery, like most places. However, the deep-fried items (eggroll, chicken fingers, shrimp rings) were left in the oil a bit too long. Not burnt, but darker than we'd like. The pork ribs & the teriyaki beef were a bit overdone, as well. My bf didn't care for the apple-orange duck sauce, but I enjoyed it. Promptly seated, this could be an issue if more crowded because of limited seating. I was not offered a glass for my beer. That is the only negative thing I have a say. The hot and sour soup was delivered to my table within 3 minutes, was very hot and excellent flavor. The Hunan Delight arrived just as I finished my soup. Also very hot. Very generous portion. After ordering through their online menu a few times and being impressed with the food, we went to eat there in person. The restaurant itself isn't anything special...don't expect any amazing architecture or decor. But, it is clean, and has good service, and the food is good. I have had almost all of the standard items (chicken fingers, beef teriyaki, crab rangoon, sesame chicken, ribs, chicken wings, fried rice, etc), and it was all good. Note that good, in this context, means deep fried, greasy, and glistening with sauce or fat. This place satisfies that special craving. Note that they do not provide chop sticks unless you ask (more of an issue for my wife than for me). Note that the menu also includes other more wholesome dishes, but I just go there for the fat. Seriously my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. I get the exact same thing regardless of which Chinese restaurant I go to. It is always crab racoon and general tsos chicken. Crab racoon are the best that I've had literally anywhere. I've never had racoon stuff at much as these ones are and they are delicious. The fried rice is again some of the best I've ever had. Doesn't look bland like most other places and they even add some bean sprouts to the mix which is quite amazing. The general this chicken, although not my most favorite, is still pretty darn good. This place is legit. Half the menu isn't translated into English. I asked the Male owner/operator about the untranslated items under 'PORK' and he insisted I try a fried pork chop dish. It was excellent, huge portions, and he was psyched I ordered off the Chinese only menu. read more

First off, I am Chinese so I know how chinese restaurants are like. I know what to expect from the food and service. This restaurant was horrible. The service was bad and the attitude of the people working there was rude. We sat at a table for 10 minutes and no one came to our table to give us a menu. I had to go to the other table to get a menu. We had to ask for everything. We shouldn't have to ask. They just kept walking around ignoring us. And when we finished the food, we needed some boxes to bring the food home. We kept saying excuse me, excuse me..No one bothered to come. We were just being ignored again and again. When they finally came, they just put the take out boxes on our table without even helping us put the food into the box. Horrible restaurant with rude people. I will never come here again. No one should have to experience the service I experienced at Chinese Kitchen Restaurant. Don't go here! Even my friends are not coming here anymore either! You don't deserve our business! read more

Their eggrolls are absolutely disgusting. Most eggrolls are made with cabbage, these egg rolls are made with a shit load of celery. They taste nasty. The only way you will like these egg rolls, is if you absolutely love the taste of celery. I tried calling back and told them that the egg rolls were disgusting and how I was expecting the egg rolls to have cabbage in them. I used to order from chinese kitchen about twice a week, but once every two weeks minimum...last night i ordered a portion of their chow mein (which I'd never had before) because it sounded good. On their online menu chow mein is listed as crispy noodles with rice; which is exactly what i was looking for. What I recoeved was a sloppy, wet, soggy mess. A light, bland sauce with soft onions, limp bean sprouts, other veggies...I "think" i saw some celery in there but im not sure. But beyond all of that there wasnt a single noodle. I called restaurant back to say I'd recieved the wrong order and i wanted crispy noodles...the lady on the phone told me "no" and that chow mein was bean sprouts, veggies, and sauce. Despite what the menu reads and what chow mein has meant my whole life, i guess im wrong. Did they get lazy? Did they give me a wrong order on purpose because it had already been made on accident? My meal WAS luke warm when i tried to eat it, btw. The only reason im not giving 1 star is because of their other food. General saos is good, my girlfriend likes the sweet and sour chicken, and my brother is a fan of their beef and broccoli. But if you want some really good rice noodle dishes you've got to call up Rice Box in Groton across the street from Big Y. And while you wait for your food, grab a sushi roll from Ju Sushi in the same parking lot...amazing read more

Well I ordered the combination of chicken and broccoli with an appetizer which was the golden fried wontons. First off the portion was big, more than expected which can be a plus if sharing with others, but the downside was that the rice tasted burnt which was disgusting. Also the fried wontons were so fried that it was like eating a rock. You couldn't even taste the meat inside or anything. Very disappointing. Has been okay but always with heavy batter. Last night was at least 40% batter. Dragon of Dragon and Phoenix must have stayed in his lair - not spicy at all. My husband and I decided on the Chinese Kitchen for dinner on a Monday night. When we entered there was no one to be found. We weren't sure if we should seat ourselves or wait. We decided to seat ourselves after waiting a few minutes. We sat at the booth looking around for a server and saw no one. Finally a man walked out of the kitchen carrying lots of plates. We sat and sat as he walked pass us multiple times. He was very busy. We finally got menus. We were served drinks by an older lady. The man seemed to be the only server for the whole restaurant. He took our order after waiting approximately 15 minutes. He was very friendly. Then literally 3 minutes later he brought us plates of food, but they were not ours. We told him and he apologized. Then we waited another 10 minutes or so to get our food. The food was ok. The general's chicken was too sweet for my liking. After we finished eating. We sat for over 20 minutes as he closed out his other tables. I'm sure we waited for over 30 minutes before we got boxes and our check. I understand that he was the only server and very busy, but we waited for way too long. Also the food was not to our liking. We will not be returning. read more

Excellent food and a lot of it for a reasonable price. We used to go almost every Sunday after church. Then they hired a very unfriendly waiter. We always were polite to him and tipped him well. Then one day he was very rude to me so we stayed away for a couple years. We went back the other day and he's still there, and as unfriendly as ever.
