So the service here is always top notch. The ambiance and views are always good. The food for itself is good, but the menu I dare say is really starting to get old. My father and I have been coming here for years and I am pretty sure I could read off to you everything on the menu as it just never changes. Some may say that's a good thing, but there should be more, should be some additions and alterations to a tired menu. All our foods were cooked well and had a great flavor. We asked the waitress different questions about the area and she did not have a clue. She asked the manager and he had the same answer. This is a historic area and they should have some idea of the area they work for corresponding socially with guest. IMO. The herb bread definitely was the hit of the meal. We love this place! We have yet to have a negative experience here. Have been multiple times now, only in this location, had no idea there was more than one. Have brought family here and now friends. This place can do it all, and you can bring a date here, family, or groups of friends. It's also got such a chill vibe which I appreciate. The service also is quick and positive for the most part. On the very first visit, we got to see the fisherman families saying their goodbyes in Salmon Bay, as this is an actual docking area for fishermen, loved this as it added to the historical importance of the place. What a perfect spot to enjoy lunch and take in the views of Salmon Bay & the fisherman boats. I have an amazing meal every time I come here; it's consistent, wholesome, and delicious. I will say I miss when they had brunch (pre-Covid days) they had the best apricot (or maybe orange?) scones. Still, their lunch and dinner meals are amazing. Food was great - however, the star of the show was our waiter Oliver. He went above and beyond to make our experience exceptional. The food was great, no doubt. Firstly, a huge thank you to the wait staff! Shout out server Brynn, who AMAZING! She and her fellow coworkers took care of us throughout the night and was working hard in her section accommodating to everyone. So, a group of us had plan to try the all-you-can-eat prawns ($30) and the all-you-can-eat fish n' chips ($28). The all-you-can-eat prawns were only available from January 2ed - February 2ed (Mon-Thurs), so we needed to make it count. As for the all-you-can-eat fish n' chips (Monday after 3PM), who doesn't like to get stuffed with deep fried fish? I sure do! Tip: Its first come first serve, so if you have a large party all members have to be there before they seat you. Bonus Tip: They have a parking lot. Once our party of 10 was all together, we were seated and had a peruse over the menu. But since we came with a purpose, we ordered and the prawns and fish started rolling out. What we didn't expect was this fantastic focaccia bread to come out before our meal. OMG it was some of the best focaccia that I've ever had in Seattle. And the best part, is that it keeps coming if you ask for it! Now the main event, the all-you-can-eat prawns were hand dipped in a tempura- like batter. The prawns were meaty but it was always a mixed bag of size of the prawns, some larger then my thumb other smaller, pretty inconsistent. The all-you-can-eat fish on the other hand seemed to be portioned to a specific weight. On the menu its specifies that its Wild Alaska True Cod, panko crusted and fried. Where on the website they say its a light tempura batter. Minor details I know, but its important to know what to expect. The fries were the well seasoned type so basically perfect in my eyes. Both all-you-can-eat items comes with fries and coleslaw. The only negative in my books would be the coleslaw. It was way too sweet. Resulting in the fries on the bottom of the basket to also be soggy and sweet. Brynn had kept up with our orders, constantly asking if we wanted more fish or prawns. Extra tartar sauce or cocktail sauces came in gravy boats. We tapped out when too full and was ending in a food coma. I had asked if it was alright to take any left over bread that was on our table home, and Brynn had packed it for me! What a night! With great service and delicious food, its hard to go wrong. Chinook's is a refreshing break from the standard restaurant in Seattle. It has so much seating, tables are spread out, there is a parking lot with plenty of parking and it is a little bit off the beaten path. The ambiance is really warm and the staff is always super friendly! The views from the restaurant are also really neat as it is in the marina and you can look out at the boats. The food is decently priced as far as eating at a seafood restaurant, but while the food is solid, it is slightly over priced for what you get. They do have weekday specials though that we have yet to try but those seem to be a great value! Overall I think Chinook's is a solid choice for a dinner option if you are in the area and it will remain on my regular rotation of restaurants to visit in Interbay. read more

We've been going to this wonderful place for over 30 years, but it's been on a decline for a couple of years. We gave it one more try today, and sadly, for the last time. The fish and chips were greasy while the breading slightly burnt. The breading on the sole was too thick and soggy. The obrien potatoes were obviously cooked ahead of time, reheated in a pan, and slightly burnt. The service was reluctant. Although the fish and chips were all you could eat, the waitress never came back. We had to flag her down. They weren't that busy at 5:00 Monday night. At over $70, we would have had better fish and chips at Ivars. I hope they return to their former quality. read more

It was a beautiful summer afternoon and we get to sit at the outdoor patio. This place is definitely popular and busy, as we had to wait for 20 min for a table even for an early dinner. It is a very family friend restaurant with a good variety of seafood selection & some amazing documentary photography of fishermen. My last review of Chinooks was five years ago. This restaurant has been a sentimental favorite of mine, and after multiple visits that were disappointments, I had to downgrade it to a two-star rating. While taking some friends on a water tour of Seattle on our boat, I docked at Fisherman's Terminal and took a chance on Chinooks, and am so glad I did... THE ROSES: Many of the things I've always loved about Chinooks are still here. If you like boats and maritime (particularly commercial fishing) ambiance, Chinooks simply can't be beat. The dining room is well laid out with a great view of the fishing fleet, and the decor with features huge photos of commercial fishing scenes in rugged Alaskan waters is very impressive. Chinooks boasts an open kitchen, and it's a lot of fun to watch the team preparing your meal. Lots of flame and stuff flying (in a controlled way, of course!). The food is solid. I have always been a fan of their Blue Plate Special, and it didn't disappoint. Fresh Alaskan cod dressed with sour cream and baked was perfect. Paired with roasted potatoes and fresh vegetables and their excellent chowder made it a wonderful meal for $29. Service was quite good as well. It appears Anthony's Restaurant Group (which owns Chinooks and many other seafood restaurants) has sorted out the service issues that had hamstrung this location. There are many good values on the menu, particularly the house wine, which you can get by the glass, half-, and full pitcher. Parking is reasonable by land, and if you're on your boat, there's about 80' of dock space for free moorage (up to four hours) while you visit. THE THORNS: This restaurant has been around a long time, and the physical plant is starting to show it a little bit. The management does seem to do a fairly good job of keeping things up, though. ROSE OR THORN (it's up to you): The menu is not, by PNW seafood restaurant standards, very creative. Don't look for a lot of really 'out there' presentations. Chinooks specializes is getting the freshest seafood it can get, prepares it well, and lets the fish do the talking. Personally, I prefer this. I think really quality seafood doesn't need to be upstaged by outlandish coatings, sauces, or presentations. This isn't 'Top Chef', and I don't want it to be. THE VERDICT: There is a reason why Chinooks has remained while so many other Seattle restaurants have come and gone. I was really starting to worry after my Last Bad Meal here in 2018, and I am delighted to see that they've bounced back. I'm guessing there's been changes in management at Anthony's and they have re-committed themselves to winning the diners loyalty one plate at a time, rather than counting on hordes of 'One and done' tourist diners who don't come back. The ambiance of Chinook is a huge lay out photos of fishing fleets in their dining area. Commercial fishing boats from Alaska at the docks are also very impressive waterfront accross the restaurant. The food at Chinook is very solid, from their cheese crusted Focaccia bread (to die for) to the fresh caught seafood varieties. I had the oyster stew for starter. Oysters are very meaty, and all sit in a rich tasty creamy broth. As my main dish Clam and Mussel combo was served. My lady's selection of Shrimp and Crab Louie Salad looked so delicious, and really kept her ocupied. My shell fish combo was very inviting indeed, with the complimentary bread served, it paired up perfectly. In my opinion, the broth was rather bland, would taste better if the chef seasoned the liquid with herbs and seasoning and maybe a dash of wine or congnac. That would take the dish to another level. To conclude our meal with dessert, I had a cup of manhatten chowder, in fact, maybe it should be the New England version instead. Walking into Chinook's, you immediately notice how spacious and almost airy the restaurant seems with its big windows along an entire wall to give great views of the boats in the water. I didn't study the room too well, but it seemed like almost all tables should have been able to see this view no matter where they were. Big plus. As far as food, we were given a basket of delicious bread. One slice of bread had a fish bone in it (weird, but this is a seafood place)... however it didn't really bother us, so we just pulled it out and kept on eating. We ordered clams & mussels (I think it's called the shellfish combo), which was decent, grilled shrimp, also decent, and Dungeness crab. The crab was wonderful and plentiful. I've gotta say, unfortunately the sides for the shrimp and crab dishes were surprisingly underwhelming. I know seafood is the star here, but they came with simple green beans and potatoes. The green beans were cooked to a perfect snappiness, but there was nothing else to them. The potatoes were undercooked and also bland. I love potatoes and I will usually take the handful of leftovers home. This time they were so unappealing that I didn't. If you're going to serve good seafood, serve good sides, too! I still give 4 stars because the ambiance and crab were so wonderful. I'd also like to come back to try other items on the menu. read more

Dinner was amazing. After spending time in downtown Seattle and walking around Discovery Park we wanted some good seafood. My wife had the fried shrimp and I had the Dungeness crab and shrimp pasta. I visited yesterday evening for lunch and was excited as this was my first time at this location. Our waiter Oliver is what garnered a three star for the review as the food was less than memorable. I ordered a New Orleans shrimp dish and my partner ordered the crab and shrimp fettucini. The shrimp in my dish were overcooked and the potatoes were hard. My partner's dish was bland and made with bay shrimp. For close to $40, they should have used larger shrimp. We loved the waiter Oliver as he was extremely attentive and engaging. OMG I HAD to whip out my phone so I could jot notes while eating. I found out about Chinook's At Salmon Bay through a recommendation from a friend, and I'm so glad that my mom chose to take a Lyft from the Space Needle to get here for dinner. This was our first dinner in Seattle. So glad we did. We got here roughly 7:15pm, and we were seated instantly. We had a wonderful window seat that had an excellent view of the docks with all the boats. The sunset view was by the water was absolutely gorgeous. Great customer service here, and our waiter Oliver was divine! One of the best waiters we've had! He was super attentive and catered to all our needs. We were very thirsty from walking around Seattle under the hot afternoon sun all day. Oliver kept refilling our water glasses, and even brought lemon slices on a plate. This is what we ordered: Complimentary appetizer: Delicious foccacia bread Main: Seafood fettuccine and Alaskan salmon. Seafood fettuccine was so rich and flavorful! The sockeye salmon fresh was flown in on Alaskan Airline, and was so fresh and tender! Dessert: P Peach slump topped with peach ice cream. Peach slump was HEAVENLY. Instead of the default vanilla ice cream, we asked for it to be swapped with a peach ice cream for an additional dollar! This dessert was a beautiful dichotomy of cold sweet creaminess with piping hot baked peach with flaky pie crust, mmmmmm! We even got Mukilteo coffee on the house to go with dessert. My mom was very impressed. Bill came out to be roughly $80. Oliver was such a great waiter, we tipped him $20. Highly recommended for out-of-towners to check out this restaurant! read more

Chinook's is a favorite of the family and we always have to eat here when mom is in town. They are pretty reliable and I've never had a bad meal here. This is not a trendy Seattle restaurant for Instagram. It's a nice casual place great for families and friends. Located in Fisherman's Terminal, guest are treated to beautiful views of the once bustling marina. I love to sit at the spot where I can see the statue of the fisherman. The food is really good. My favorite are the crab cakes. They are a bit pricey but worth it. The bar is also nice and they make the best lemon drops. I don't usually rave about a salad, but the side salad with the basil vinaigrette is amazing! That along with their bread could be a meal alone. The customer service is great, as I have never had a problem with anyone there. The staff are always so friendly and professional. Again, this is not a place to come to party. If you want to have a nice dinner and gathering, Chinooks is a great spot. read more

Try the dill based tartar sauce. Very nice match. The Boston (New England) clam chowder($11) hosted a substantial amount of tender clams in a not-too-thin creamy base. The back taste was a tinge of smokiness. One of the betta chowdahs I've tasted. We wanted to share a dozen Northwest raw oysters but the waitress told us that they couldn't find help who would shuck oysters so they took them off the menu. Damn. The seafood fettuccine ($28) was delicious. Plump mussel meat in the shells, a meager helping of scallops and some large shrimp hiding in the tangle of sauced linguine. Definitely worthy of a try. If you don't care about bread then just go to the window on the side (save some $$) but if you like bread.... They have this seasoned focaccia bread that is INCREDIBLE!!!! The fish n chips have a GREAT breading! 10/10!!! I have had really great service and really shockingly terribly slow service while dining in always very fast and great service at the window!... When I come with my mom and grandma we normally luck out with the same right corner booth over looking the fisherman's memorial and the same incredibly attentive waitress. My grandma always jokes that she's been there as long as my grandmas been coming there. I would recommend asking for an older server. The young people do not want to work! Or are overwhelmed by a mid heavy lunch crowd? Asked for an "experienced" server. I cannot stress this enough... go for the chowder and make sure to get some bread! Fisherman's Terminal is a great spot for a view restaurant and Chinooks is perfect for that setting.. our party of 4 enjoyed a table at the window. service was excellent. Chinnok's has been our favorite restaurant for years, but we were disappointed when we saw a copper river salmon plate. It was so small and costs almost $50. They need to serve more reasonable dish for that price. I was also surprised to see small shrimp in the shrimp pasta. Great service and meticulously hygienic during COVID times. Surprisingly it was not very busy and the seating was very secluded from other people. The staff was wearing masks throughout our time there. Parking was very easy as well. Now as for food- they start off with their buttery melt in mouth bread. And the best crab cakes I've eaten so far! Expensive but well worth it! Salmon tacos too were very delicious and flavorful. Cutting down one star because I felt the linguine sauce was a little too thin and lacked flavor for my taste. But someone else might like it the way it was. Went to dinner as a party of 6 - 3 adults, 2 youngsters & 1 newborn infant. The 2 littles were high energy - typical for little ones. But, our waitress was absolutely amazing with them! I don't recall her coming around often, to check in, but she was fabulous when she did! And, I was in deep conversation and may have missed seeing her, too. I had the garlic prawns scampi. It was very good! I wish there was a bit more garlic & herbs, but only because I like to over-do everything! :) The service was great and the food was, I'd say, 4/5 stars. I've eaten at Chinook's several times with good experiences. I did their lobster special tonight. You get a lobster tail (5-7 oz?} several brussel sprouts and potatoes for $29. And of course that wonderful bread. I wonder about the choice of sides. And this is IMHO. The brussel sprouts were undercooked even tho appeared to be roasted. The flavor on the outside was nice but hard to chew. The potatoes were flavorful but too much oil (or whatever was used) more of a breakfast potato dish. Perhaps a better choice of sides to show off a lobster dish next time! We arrived at 4 so no rush as yet so sound level was low. The service was good. Lots of free parking. I live close by...I really like Chinook's. read more
