This was second stop at this location. Last night the wife picked up a burrito bowl and a couple of things for the kids. I watched the guy in front of me get served a burrito that was barely squeezed into the tortilla. It was falling apart as they tried to wrap it in foil. I remember thinking "that's going to be a disaster when he tries to eat it". Today I got served one of those disastrous burritos. Not sure if it was the first one the guy had ever made or not but it was a mess from the start. On the second bite most of the contents of my burrito fell out onto the foil so I got to eat it like a burrito bowl. I was amazed with how bland it was. Even with mediums salsa, "Barbacoa", guac, sour cream, and cheese it really had no flavor. My burrito was $9.29- $6.70 for the burrito and an extra $1.90 for the guac. A bit pricey for a mediocre burrito. I also got the pleasure of biting into an avocado stem in the guac which was unpleasant. Quality control please Chipotle! After our last online order, I had enough with this place. I didn't realize our order was wrong until I got home. I had two orders and they were completely mixed up. One was chicken and the other was steak. What was asked for the chicken burrito was mostly and not ALL put in the order for the steak and vice versa. How do you mess up on an order where not much was asked in a burrito? We were craving Chipotle so much that we ordered at the Bidwell branch, who got our order correct. It's been about 6 months since I came to this location again and decided to give it another chance but never again. In the past, I had issues with little meat put in the burrito as well as having to keep asking them to add more cheese or lettuce because each more was a pinch more and I'd get the angry stare. read more

Thank you. However, and OMG, the steak was cooked medium rare. What?! It was quite raw in the middle. I think they're supposed to cook it to medium-medium well. I am a frequent customer at this location. Over the last couple of months I have seen the quality go down and down. After tonight, I do not intend to frequent this location again anytime soon. They are constantly out of ingredients and tonight they were out of black beans and chips! The lettuce looked old and leaning to be replaced. The employees do not seem to care about cleanliness. There is always leftover food on the ground or on the tables. Trash cans are usually always overflowing and the serving line has smeared food on it. The management of this location should be ashamed of the product they are presenting. It is been a couple of years since I have been to the chipotle down east Bidwell... But, I think I will try them out. I tried even writing a complaint on their website... but it says, "The website is temporarily unavailable. Please try back later." corporate really needs to take a hard look at this location. So I do intend to make a complaint once the website is back up! These portions are wayyyy too small! I've waited to post this until I was able to go back a couple more times - 4 times the burrito bowls were shockingly small. Different times of day, different staff. I get a lot of items in my bowl and it does not reach the rim of the bowl. One instance, I got four bell pepper strands when I asked for the fajita toppings. I checked in as soon as I got there and watched as countless other walk in customers got their food and left. No one apologized or said why it took to long when I asked. I'm a fan of chipotle, but the girl making my steak bowl was flat out lazy... After making mine, she turned to her coworkers asking if they had more steak since she used most of what was left. One of the other workers pointed out that it was directly behind her... My dad was next in line. A pretty big guy who can handle any burrito... he asked for steak, as well, she scraped the bottom of the container till it was completely out of steak. I could've counted the pieces she put on his burrito... maybe a small bites worth... We didn't say anything thinking there was no way she was going to leave it like that... she did... all because she didn't want to reach back behind her??? She was also trying to skimp out on the cheese... he asked for more twice... still thinking they were going to add to the steak... and ofcourse they make sure to charge you for your guac and queso. This has got to be the emptiest Chipotle restaurant I have ever checked in to. I was curious.... Was it the day Of the week? hmmm? It was Hump Day and a big burrito goes along very well with hump day. Was it the too late in the evening? 7:00 is acceptable time for late dinner. I ordered a steak burrito with Quac, side of chips and a small drink. The total came out to nearly $14. This was not an over the top burrito or meal for that matter. Portion of steak was unacceptable, it was chewy and lacked flavor. They might as well call it a "Condiment Burrito" or a "Salad Wrap Burrito." If this place is to be the catalyst to how all Chipotle franchises will model themselves after, Chipotle is in for a major loss. High price for a below standard "Salad Wrap with beef bits" is up surd! But who can blame them? It's what happens to many restaurants that hit mainstream with perhaps more energy on inventory control rather than quality of taste. This location was the dirtiest of any Chipotle I have been to. Stopped while driving home from Tahoe and got a double chicken salad. My chicken was room temp. The prep area you could see in the kitchen was stacked with dirty pans, beverage area was a mess and 3 full trash cans when I went to bus my table. I've visited Chipotle innumerable times over the years - this location has offered the worst experience. I don't know if it's because they're all kids at this location or see it only as a paycheck but the customer experience really falls flat. Each time I visit, I have seen: overly messy countertop, poor process flow, really subpar handling of making burritos - many times I've watched mine get broken during prep and even witnessed meat and guacamole fall out with no attention to detail or desire to course correct. I love Chipotle. Always have and always will. This location is really making it hard. The manager is a very angry, unhappy and just plain miserable person. We were just at this location and she came from the back barking orders at her employees right in front of the customers. She was screaming at them that she would send them home if they didn't catch up. She is a drill Sargent and when she is up making the food all she does is shout at you and throws the food in the bowl. I am far from sensitive and my fiancé and I are happy when we see she's not 'on the line'. I really hope this location changes how they treat their employees because it is just plain uncomfortable to come in to get dinner and see how unhappy the manager is. read more

I was told by one of the employees without any explanation, that I can only order quesadillas through the mobile app next time and not in person (which doesn't make sense). To say I am a fan of Chipotle would be an understatement. Addict may be a better suited term. I typically frequent a Chipotle at least once a week; well, who am I kidding, typically more. When this location opened up, I was thrilled as it is closer to my house than the older location on East Bidwell. Shortly after it opened up, I headed down to get my usual and was thoroughly disappointed with the quality of food, the service, etc. I decided that it was likely because it was a new location and figured I would try again in a couple of months and hit up the East Bidwell location in the meantime. Since this location opened, I've continuously been less than satisfied. I always held onto hope as a loyal Chipotle-an. I've even refused to try the Free Birds in town because of my loyalty to Chipotle. Main complaint: this location continuously isn't prepared. A few nights ago I waited 5 minutes for some white rice. Often times meat isn't prepared and ready. The list goes on of minor mishaps on visits since this location opened. I've never written a review because I've always just assumed this location needed a bit more help and have always held out hope; however, today the line was crossed. Craving my usual, I headed down to this location at lunch to get my fix. When I arrived, I came upon a notice on the door. It said "Outage"; I continued to read the note and it said the location was out of something and to ask what. When I got to the counter I forgot to ask as I was distracted by all the commotion and was fixated on my hunger. I started to have the team prepare my burrito bowl as I like it. I get down to the salsa, let them know what I'd like, and the woman says, "oh, we're out". Dumbfounded, I replied "out of what?" as I had requested both mild tomato salsa and corn salsa. The woman responded, "mild". I like to think that I am a rational person with reasonable expectations, but I am still floored by this. How does a Mexican food restaurant run out of SALSA? It would be like Burger King running out of burgers, Starbucks running out of coffee, or Dunkin Donuts running out of donuts. Now, if the food is made onsite and fresh as they claim, how could they be out of Salsa? I could understand that the tomato shipment might not have made it to the store or something; but there is a super market within blocks and a Costco even closer than that. Why someone didn't go buy some damn tomatoes is beyond my comprehension. I could understand if there was an issue with the tomato crop this year, but I've not seen anything on the news. I recently bough my own tomatoes at the market just fine. Being someone that can't eat the medium or hot salsas due to the spice, this "outage" ruined my entire lunch. Had I have been notified from the jump, I wouldn't have even walked in the door and would have headed to the other location on East Bidwell. It is clear why they didn't put the actual "Outage" item on the front door because they didn't want to lose business. Duping customers is not the way to run a business and expect customers to return. This location clearly needs an overhaul; and I'm not the only one who feels this way based on the reviews. Chipotle Corporate should close down this location or fire everyone and start new. They continuously are giving Chipotle a bad name and not meeting the Chipotle standards! In closing: go buy some damn tomatoes and make some friggin salsa for crying out loud! I've given up on this location and will take my business down the road to the Chipotle in town that knows how to get the job done!!! Do yourself a favor and do the same if you're in the mood for your Chipotle fix! PS. I'm also going to Chipotle Corporate with a letter regarding these sentiments. Rice, does anyone really need THAT much rice on a burrito? Sure, I ask for the plain white rice but, it's not the only thing I want to taste. Very slim (very) amount of carnitas, cheese, and lettuce. I asked for more of two things, and a small sprinkle of lettuce was given. The burrito busted at its seems before it got off the line..thanks to at least 1 1/2 cup of rice. I couldn't eat it like a burrito! The chips were also stale and chewy, not fresh at all. I usually don't have any complaints about chipotle..with the exception of the long lines. No long lines here (none) and about 10 employees trying to look busy. Go make some fresh chips! Lastly employees should be trained if they have a runny nose or an itch they should not continuously wipe it on their arm as their making your food. I thought long and hard about reviewing this place because I was appalled at the service we received, along with the customers' orders ahead of us. As soon as you walk in, you must make and immediate left. That's where the line will begin. I can see this being a problem during busy times as people walk into you when you're trying to go in and they're trying to get out. The staff were friendly enough. I watched them like a hawk as they prepared orders ahead of us. I kept seeing ripped tortillas being filled and wrapped. Even saw half a tortilla filled and wrapped (it was a to go order... yikes!). I placed my order and they ran out of crispy tacos. What... ??? Opted for the soft tacos. Well, guess what, they had some! Like the burritos built before my order, the tortillas were ripped as well. Since I planned to eat with a fork, it didn't matter. Still shocked that they served it. Ordered a bowl. It includes rice. They didn't have enough rice in the bin to make the bowl, so the guy yelled to the back staff to make rice. Whoever was in charge of doing that was refusing to make rice. In the end, he made it. We paid for the order and left, stunned, speechless. The appearance of the staff handling the food and serving it still matter. It's a business. There is a certain level expected from Chipotle and establishments of that kind. This location doesn't meet my expectations. Hell, it shouldn't meet anyone's! I refuse to return. read more
