I'm a huge fan of Chipotle and despite all their recent debacles that have brought them a whole lot of unwanted media attention, I still like to eat their delicious bowl offerings every once in a while. So why the 1 star you may ask... well its more to do with this particular location and the abomination of a service they provided recently. Now we've all been accustomed to their below average service when you do a mobile/web order for pick up (Its mostly to do with their archaic practice of using the same station for all sorts of orders). This particular instance however, was disappointing even by their standards. We placed a Dinner order this past weekend for a family of 5. We were told the pick up time was 7:45 pm. We arrived there on time only to find half a dozen others already waiting on, some even 45 mins or so they claimed! Well ours was a full 30 mins wait during which we saw the existing folks and some new ones come and go taking their orders away as they got ready. The attendant would come with an order, call out the name and hand it over to the person waiting with a rather shallow, obligatory apology for the delay... After 30 mins, we were the ONLY people on the waiting line, they finally prep what seemed to be our order, didn't bother calling any name out, didn't even acknowledge our presence there, and simply placed the whole order bag on a side shelf for takeouts and went away. Oh and the order was all goofed up, had Lettuce in ones that didn't need it, no Guac and Queso in some that did need those etc etc. We were appalled at the sheer callousness of this place and its corporate training. Also I hate to say this but I must, it seemed kinda Racist of them since we were the only Non-Americans in that waiting group and they not only prepped our order last, but never bothered to call us or apologize like they did for everyone else (Did I say they were all Americans). I wrote this feedback as I was leaving the restaurant on Jan 31 around 5:00 pm, but forgot to submit it when I got home. This experience definitely deserved the feedback, so I figure it's better late than never. January 31 Well I was fortunate enough to stop at the Chipotle in Hagerstown, Maryland at just the right time this evening. I walked into a clean store and a pleasant atmosphere. I stopped at the restroom first (which was clean - very important to me) because there was a line for food and when I came out, the line had moved quickly, so I walked right up for my food. Each of the four people that I encountered on the food line were fantastic!! Although I did not get the name of the first girl who greeted me, she was pleasant and provided a perfectly generous portion of rice since I told her that I was not going to be getting beans in my bowls. (usually I have to ask for more rice as filler, since I don't get beans, but she was already ahead of that. Great way to start down the line!) Since I had my "buy one, get one free" on the bottom of my receipt (from having purchased a gift card in December), I ordered two matching chicken burrito bowls. When I got to the second girl in line, she was very pleasant, happy, smiley, customer-friendly! I told her that one of the bowls would be for tomorrow's lunch and began to ask if I could get--, before I even finished what I was going to ask, she immediately grabbed the little cups to fill with my toppings. She was definitely on top of things and knew what I was going to ask for!!! She made my dinner bowl perfect, and filled the cups with my "cold" items for the burrito that I planned to enjoy for lunch the next day. (Upon unpacking my bag at home, I noticed that she had even labeled the second one "Lunch". She went that extra step. That was great customer service and made me smile again when I got home.) When it was time for check out, the cashier was friendly and prompt, took my coupon, as well as my promo on my phone for free chips and guac, and I paid with a gift card, quick and easy! I asked what the girls name was that had finished making my burrito bowls, because I wanted to send in a compliment, and she informed me of the girls name. It was Allissa. Jennifer's name was on the receipt since she was running register, and Kylee was cleaning up lettuce off the floor. I apologize that I did not get the first girl's name, but she also deserves recognition, since she was the first smiling face that greeted me at the start of the food line, and served out my rice. (I'm sure you can find her based on the work schedule and the time of day I was in.) Overall, this was just an absolutely amazing experience at a Chipotle restaurant, definitely worthy of noting and complimenting. I am in customer service as well, and I value my customers so I know how important it is to receive feedback, especially positive! I've been to this location many times and my order is never done on time. I understand the employees are trying their best, but waiting over an hour for my food is unacceptable. Not to mention one of the male employees was very rude and yelling backhanded comments to customers if they didn't hear their orders being called. Rude, chaotic, inefficient, late getting order by 10 minutes (past the estimated pickup time in the app), no pickup shelf, music blasting to the point where i could not bear the person behind the counters and neither could she hear me and to top it all off, acted as if it was my fault they screwed up my pickup- ordered through the app, was there 6 minutes early based on the estimated pick up time on the app. read more

This Chipotle has some serious problems. They couldn't move the line along quickly and ran out of cheese. When I got to the cash register, just walked away. About 2 minutes later a different person appeared and rang me up. Not the best way to change shifts! There online ordering system is horrible!!! Ordered online and got there on time. It's took them over 45 minutes to finally fix our food because there were 5 other people that had also ordered online and were waiting. This never happens at the Germantown location, but for some reason this place is jacked! I gave them a another shot, because I received a buy one get one free coupon after I had to wait forever the last time. This time I got two burrito bowls and two kids meals. No one there seemed to have any idea how to fix a kids meal. They gave me one taco and some beans, so I asked if it came with anything else and three people said no. Turns out it should of came with rice and salsa also. Not to mention the burrito bowls were smaller than anything I've ever seen from chipotle before. I was feeling lucky but this is legit the worst Chipotle ever. Only saving grace was that the staff was super nice. Whoever is cooking in the back needs to be grilled (get it) by the manager... unless the manager was cooking, in which case he/she should fire him/herself. This is the worse Chipotle we have ever been to. We keep giving it a try as we LOVE Chipotle but they continue to disappoint. The food flavors are minimal compared to other area Chipotles. And it is always dirty and the plastic ware is always empty. The other day I witnessed the cashier girl go to the trash cans get dirty red baskets for burritos and start putting new papers in serving to new customers. Disgusting! !!! There is always a line to the door with a typical 10-15 wait. The other day we waited 40 Minutes to order food! !!!! The stacks of dirty steam pans are ridiculous everytime we go there It is obvious that this store can not keep up to the demand in hagerstown md. I've written to the main office many times. Congratulations on being the worst Chipotle location I've ever visited! Your workers move slower than three-toed sloths and have the intelligence of a gaggle of turkeys. I've never had a problem trying to buy Mexican food at a Mexican restaurant before but I may have well been asking for the woman behind the counter to perform brain surgery than my actual request of making me some freaking tacos. I mean, it's not that difficult. She doesn't have to make the taco shells or even prepare the food that goes in them; she simply has to pull the shells out from under the counter and use a spoon to add my requested ingredients. A child can use a spoon from a very young age so I guess I incorrectly assumed that an adult would be able to the same. Do yourself a favor and find another Chipotle location or go to Jersey Mike's (like I did) or Five Guys next door. read more

Unfortunately, I had a poor experience at this location. I'm a huge fan of Chipotle, but to my disappointment this specific location off of 81 had some pretty crappy employees. No chicken due to shortage, whatever. Guy at counter doesn't give an eff. "What you need?" Slow and sloppy shouldn't be in their job description. It made me wait 45 min to pick up and when I got there early they told me to wait and they'd make it... I sat for 15 min then they told me I'd have to just get in line... How can you be a Chipotle and not have changing tables in the bathrooms? The food and service is fine but come ON.

This location is very conveniently located right off Interstate 81 near Walmart in the same shopping center as Best Buy and Starbucks. The food can be hit or miss, which is a huge disappointment after years of waiting for our own Chipotle here in Hagerstown, and many trips to their Frederick location. Portions vary greatly too, depending on what time of day and who is working the line. There is a tiny patio outside with 2 or 3 tables overlooking the parking lot area. Unfortunately, it's proximity to the interstate makes it rather noisy and not the best fresh air space. The indoor dining area is smaller than other Chipotles I've been to. There are 2 main dining areas split by the condiments bar, and some bar stool seating along the windows by the side wall of the restaurant. They have an awesome sound system, with tons of Bose speakers overhead. A tip for families: if your kids won't eat from Chipotle menu there is a Mcdonalds near Borders, and lots of families tote happy meals into the restaurant for their children. Chipotle does offer small quesadillas for kids, and you can also get a side of rice or beans instead of the larger menu items. read more

So the Restaurant closes at 10 pm , but when you drive by at 9:30 all the chairs are up on the table so it gives the image that the restaurant is closed. To make matters worse they are all ways out of main ingredients as well as plastic forks. It's so bad that I had to argue with my kids because they dint want to go to the restaurant because they stated that they are always out toppings ( guacamole,lettuce,cheese, Rice) so I thought it can't be that bad. Typically do not write negative reviews...went into this location excited to use my GC and claim my free chips and side for my bday .....it wasn't until we had gotten through the line to learn there was no guacamole and no chips. I've never ordered off the kids menu from any restaurant, let alone a Chipotle. But this time happened to be visiting young relatives, and they were wanting the cheese quesadilla. So the quesadilla was supposed to come with rice and beans, choice of chips or fruit, and choice of milk or juice. We put in a to-go order, but they did not receive beans in their trays. There were three tray slots - one had rice, one had cheese, and one was empty. No beans. The kids were not crazy about the quesadilla, it was just cheese melted in a small tortilla in tin foil. The chips were also very stale/inedible. Giving it two stars for the extremely long wait (they decided to do all the pickup orders just as we finally got to the counter), lack of beans (the one healthy item!), and extremely stale chips. read more

The lad in front of me left and when I finally made it to order the first young woman was pleasant, but this is where the nice stopped. The next girl picks up my dish and as I tried to stop her she dumps beans on it. When I attempted to explain she provided attitude and says she can remake. The last three times I have ordered a burrito from this Chipotle, whoever made it ripped through the tortilla and the very last time, it was entirely split up the side. I turned it into a burrito bowl. Don't bother placing an order online. It took an hour from the order time for the food to be "ready" and even when I got there at the pick-up time, I had to wait twenty more minutes for my food. There was nowhere for me to stand as I waited that was not in someone's way. When I got my order, several items were missing, so I had to go back in and wait ten more minutes for them to actually complete the order. I have made a few online orders over the course of this year and this is the standard outcome. This Chipotle used to be a nice place to eat, but with poor service, long wait times, and an overcrowded cafeteria feel, the amount of hassle is no longer worth the food. I give up. It took over an hour to get my order. Tons of people inside, really no way to completely social distance from each other. The worst thing I saw was a worker go straight from holding the door open to talk to someone outside back to preparing food without changing gloves or washing her hands. When my co-worker brought the order back mine was prepared incorrectly (and was on its side). I called, sounded like I was disconnected. I called back and was put on hold waiting for about 15 minutes so I used another phone to call again. The girl that answered said she told the manager 3 times that I was on hold, then told me I should just try back after 1:30. I explained that I just wanted my order made correctly so I could come pick it up. When I arrived at the Hagerstown Chipotle I asked for the manager. The purple-haired girl told me he would be with me after he finished with someone else that was complaining. The GM, Carlos, was so out of line. He wouldn't shut up so I could get a word in edgewise. He kept talking over me, walking away from me while I was trying to explain that my order was prepared incorrectly, and a girl behind the counter tells "me" to keep my voice down. Well if he would have shut the heck up for 2 minutes I wouldn't have had to raise my voice. Then he wants to say that all of us at First Data all want free food and coupons. He told me to tell all of First Data not to order anymore. He was such an a@@. Then, to top it off, as I was finishing up my corrected meal I felt something odd in my mouth. There was a piece of plastic in my food. Of course there was no need to go back and deal with an accusatory GM as he would surely say it was planted. Stopped in here to refuel while me and my wife shopping at the near by stores. The place wasn't busy. Yet the dinning area looks like it hasn't been cleaned in awhile. I can over look the bad wrap Job they did on my burrito. But the way the place is layed out, on a cold Dec afternoon when someone opens the front door the dinning area becomes a vacuum and things start flying off your table just wasn't cool. But this chipotle was not great I asked the lady for a little bit of red sauce she says ok and proceeds to add a big spoonful of sauce that covered the whole top of the bowl. I asked for fresh veggies and waited for them, once they brought them up, the kid scrapped the old veggies into my bowl then put new ones on. Let me begin by saying that I'm a Chipotle fanatic. Their football sized burritos are part of my Sunday routine; you might say that I'm religious about it. (har har) However...I hate the Hagerstown Chipotle. Really hate it. As other reviewers have said, they're very inconsistent. I know what my burrito is going to taste like in Frederick or Rockville; Hagerstown is a craps shoot. But I think my real issue with this particular Chipotle has to do with my fellow patrons. Allow me to offer a few pointers: - Try to have at least a general idea of what you're going to order before you get to the counter. We've all been waiting in line for 10 minutes, and now I have to stand behind you while you agonize over whether you're going to get Chicken or Steak?!? You couldn't have given that a little thought ahead of time? - No one person is able to order six burritos at once. You're going to get confused, you're going to confuse the employees, and you're going to irritate the person behind you who thought there was only one person ahead of him. Please, no more than two burrito orders per person. - Yes, guacamole is $1.50 extra. - No, you can't have more meat! Stop whining and move along! - For the love of God, don't reach over the sneeze guard to point at the food. The barrier is there for a reason, namely, I don't want your fingers touching something I'm about to put in my mouth. I could go on, but I'll leave it at that. So I have been to a bunch of different Chipotle establishments but I was the most please with the service that I received from this one. The staff was so nice I did not feel rushed at all. The portions were nice I did not have to ask for more of something. It was a little wait to get to my food but I appreciated them not yelling "hi how can I help you" when I am 3 people away from the counter. I have patronized this location a number of times and it is indeed the worst Chipotle I've ever encountered. I keep thinking that corporate will fix it at some point, but they have failed miserably. The faces behind the counter change but the lousy service and apathetic attitude remain. Pros -Few. I guess I could say that the cooks do a good job on the actual food prep. Cons -Often out of stock whether it be menu items or non food items. -Often behind. I've had online orders with pick up times 1.5hrs after the order was placed. -Apathetic staff "yeah we're out of dressing for the salad I just made you and I knew before I made it...so what? Buh bye! Bad service is not uncommon at any Chipotle in my experience, but this location is particularly inept. I wish Chipotle corporate would spend less time preaching about the "integrity" of their food and suppliers and more time ensuring that their own house is in order. Their evangelizing rings hollow.
