Honestly, Chipotle is not a 5* joint. But it absolutely was, before it was open, and they were only serving three people. If their food could be that good, for everybody all the time, it would be beyond amazing. But now that I have been there a couple of times more anonymously, the rice isn't as well seasoned, the beans aren't as perfect, and the grilled meats are a bit chewier (not in a good way). Still, it is solidly a 3* restaurant, far surpassing any other burrito joint in the region*, with an extra 1* thrown in for providing happy meat, raised without antibiotics or hormones, that I feel like I can eat with a clean conscience. Plus, I have tried their iPhone app for ordering on the go, and it totally rocks. It's a great way to avoid the lines, and so much more awesome than drive-through. * I have been told that it's time to reevaluate Bros Tacos in Albany, so consider this a qualified statement. I had visited Chipotle a few times, but was told it's very similar to Moe's, so I wanted to try both before reviewing them. Chipotle sticks with a more basic menu of tacos, burritos and salads, while Moe's has a few more options, including a kids menu. However, I feel the the quality of the food at Chipotle is much higher. The meat is moist and the veggies more crisp, and with overall superior seasoning. Both places had very fast service but Chipotle has a classier feel to it. It felt like a casual cafe as opposed to a fast food joint. The staff at Chipotle was very warm and friendly both times I visited, while I found the staff at Moe's to be below average. Moe's prices are slightly lower, but both are cheap. Portion sizes are comparable. I will probably return to Moe's when I'm in the Wolf Road area, but without a ton of enthusiasm. I'm glad Chipotle is a more convenient location for me to frequent. I love trying new restaurants. Finding the hole in the wall with the world's best food... it's the foodie lottery. Chain restaurants on the other hand, very homogeneous. You'll get the same Big Marc everywhere around the world. So why on earth am I giving five stars to a chain restaurant located in the suburbs when I love Bomber's Burrito Bar? They're just that good. Excellent good quality, fair (but not bargain-y) prices, and a nice shiny shop. There's not much not to like. Hell, they even have beer... though, I'd rather stick to my cheap dive bar to get my drink on. I'm also a big fan of their interest in sustainable agriculture. They buy local and organic whenever possible, which is very admirable. I'd like to know more about their labor. Paying the workers a living wage and all of that fun stuff. Oh Chipotle, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways... I consider myself a burrito connoisseur. I'm not easily impressed by most of these fast-food burrito places. However, the Chipotle chain has a special place in my heart. Bested by only one (Qdoba, you da bomb), Chipotle is as good as it gets in Albany. The food is fresh. That's right: guacamole made daily in-house from avocados, the peppers chopped right there to be grilled and served, and although I don't eat it, the meat is cooked as needed instead of being pre-cooked and then frozen for days. I attended the pre-pre-opening event tonight which was a fundraiser for the Shaker High School Key Club so the place was filled with an unusual teen to adult ratio. I also have two complaints which I'm simply going to write off as "first night jitters": 1. The rice clumped together. Not enough water when they cooked it, maybe. 2. The mild salsa was SO cold. Reminded me of Moe's (shudders). I plan to visit again and again (including Free Burrito Day tomorrow) and will follow-up on these issues in a future or edited review. The staff was friendly and willing to guide anyone unfamiliar with the chain and their menu. This was extremely refreshing to see (compared to some other burrito chains in the area) as it also kept the line moving along. Keep up the good work, Chipotle. Since covid 19 outbreak the website/app online offering has been seamless. The quality of food has decreased, chips have been stale last 3 times we ordered. It's almost as they mix stale chips in with the fresh ones because not every chip is stale but I'd say more than half are. I ordered the keto salad and it had about 3 pieces of lettuce. Just look at their pic to what I actually received. I think they might not care as customers grab and go and employees do not have to deal with customers face to face. This is without a doubt the worst Chipotle location in the entire Capital Region. I usually avoid this location like the plague, as they typically skimp on ingredients and have unfriendly employees. Tonight I went to this location because I was in the area and didn't feel like driving out of my way to Wolf Road (where I typically go and where the employees are friendly and they don't skimp). I honestly had the worst burrito I've ever eaten in my life. One bite of meat (which was extremely fatty), skimpy on everything else as well as hard as rock brown rice. Oh, and it fell apart as soon as I pulled back the foil. Thankfully this allowed for me to eat around the rock hard rice. I will never return to this location. Most of my friends feel the exact same way about this location of Chipotle, it's never good. Also the employees are rude and unfriendly. To be honest I didn't find this place to be anything special. The main problem was the chewy and dry steak on my burrito. It pretty much brought down the whole burrito, I did my best to imagine that it was nice juicy steak but even then I think the burrito would still have been lacking. Overall all I can say is it was an average burrito for NY. The burrito at Moe's (another burrito chain) is superior. I do have to commend them on their very tasty and very fresh guacamole; unfortunately they charge you $1.85 for a little dab on your burrito. I went to Chipotle tonight. The interior is very "hard" and garage-like. Concrete floors, corrugated aluminum roofing materials on the walls and drab colors make the place very uninviting for diners. The heavy stools make an annoying screeching noise when they're moved. Kids love to move them back and forth just to hear the noise. It's annoying for diners. The food was ok but the prices were way too high! I was floored when the register chick asked me for almost $20 for 2 burritos and 1 soda!!! I checked the receipt and found out that a small dab of guacamole cost me $1.85 and a little 12 oz bottle of soda was $2.45? Are you freaking kidding me?! And who designed that crazy, convoluted parking lot entrance? There are no signs telling you where to enter. I'm sure there have been a bunch of car accidents there! I will not go back. I absolutely love Chipotle, and this location in particular. The only downfall is that it can get quite busy at certain times of day, and there is often a line wrapping around the entire building. The staff do a nice job of keeping the line moving though, so it really isn't all that bad. I must admit that when Chipotle initially came to the area, I was not a huge fan. I didn't see what all the fuss was about. But after frequenting many times over the past few years, I have definitely been converted. Their ingredients are plentiful and fresh. Their prices are reasonable for the amount of food you are getting. I love how their website allows you to build your meal and gives you the nutritional content, as well as has online ordering. I use that feature often. Being on their email list gets your perks such as free food throughout the year. I wish they included chips with their meals, so Moe's has them beat on that. I just want to know how chipotle has a never ending supply of perfectly ripened avocados for their guacamole. You can tell the supply is never ending because they give everyone that requests it atop their order about 3-8 servings. I'm capable of consuming the full 8 when given that glorious opportunity. I opt for a carnitas (when available...I love their commitment to animal welfare so I'm not mad) salad with medium salsa as dressing. It's a super tasty whole30 friendly fast food option if you're into that. I'm not a fan of burritos or actual chipotle, and I wasted too many years of my life not eating chain chipotle because I incorrectly assumed everything they served was a burrito chock full of chipotle. I've stated this in the event any other novices out there don't already know this is not the case. You can put whatever your particular little heart desires (that they have access to) in your bowl. This location is great (busy at dinner time but the line moves quickly) like all the other locations I've been to. I'm reviewing this place from the point of view of a vegetarian, since that's the diet that I've been following for the past month or so. The vegetarian options here are pretty sorry and few. Which is odd, because Mexican take-out places are usually good for that. Bomber's has some pretty interesting options, and Moe's lets you substitute tofu for meat in any burrito, taco, etc. At Chipotle, the only concession they make towards vegetarians is that they'll throw guacamole into the "veggie" burrito for free. I suppose I'm missing out on an essential part of the Chipotle experience by not having some of the delectably spiced barbacoa or carnitas. But really, is there no other way to deliver that extra flavor rather than just on meat? I'll admit, the green chili salsa, guacamole, cilantro-lime rice and fajita vegetables in my burrito were good, but there was something seriously lacking. I do appreciate the ability to order online though, which saved me from waiting in a gargantuan line (probably a 30 minute wait just to order) Friday night. I have to say that the quality of customer service at this location as dropped severely. I visit this Chipotle frequently as I work very close and its usually a quick meal for lunch. However, I must say that the last consecutive visits have been disheartening. The food is always good, but the staff is very rude and insist on rushing you through the line in order to keep business running excessively fast. I will say however, that this location is usually very busy during lunch and it may be necessary for the staff to keep the pace fast in order to keep the line down. However, I find it unnecessary and rude to rush customers when there is only about 5-6 people in line. For example, today I went in to Chipotle and noticed only about 4 people in front of me and nobody behind me. Before I knew it I was in front of a staff member who proceeded to stare at me for my order. I was not greeted at all. She then, as quickly as she could, gave me my options for the burrito bowl I ordered. "Pinto or Black?" "Meat?" I answered and she threw my bowl towards the next 4 employees who were not even close to being finished with their previous orders. They then got confused with the orders they were finishing and asked us (the customers) which orders belonged to who. I had to skip the person in line ahead of me so that I could address the employee who asked me what condiments I wanted. I find it excessive that there are about 6 employees behind the counter for only about 6 customers in line. Its intimidating and makes for a very uncomfortable dining experience. Every time I go into this Chipotle I am rushed to order and treated rudely. It seems as if the employees are more concerned about getting customers out of the restaurant then serving them. I really feel like a manager should address this problem because as much as the food is good, the service sucks and I will be traveling to Wolf road to get my Chipotle fix from now on. read more

When I first walked in there was a busy line, the line went quick which was nice. I ordered two cheese quesadillas. Its pretty hard to mess up a CHEESE quesadilla. Well, Latham Chipotle staff managed to do so. Both quesdillas had very little cheese (close to none). I actually showed my co-workers and they laughed and said I should call them and complain. Im usually not one to complain or write a bad review but this was ridiculous! Not to mention it had some green stuff in one of the quesadillas and tomato in part of another. Maybe they should be more careful and seperate the ingredients a little better and not be so cheap with cheese considering I paid over $8 for pretty much 2 tortillas. I have heard so many good things about Chipotle, so a couple nights ago I decided to try it for the first time. My experience was fantastic. There was an excellent red-headed girl who assisted me with my order, helping me to figure out what I should order and educating me on the choices as I don't like spicy foods. Thanks to her my bowl was fantastic and I now have a set order. Then on the register I had a very nice girl, the receipt said her name was Ruby. She didn't make me feel rushed or pressured despite the line. Additionally, she was very helpful with my options for additions to my bowl (I recommend the chips). Thanks to these two girls Chipotle is my new favorite restaurant and I am definitely recommending it to any of my friends who haven't gone! read more

To get into Chipotle, you have to drive way past the restaurant driveway and double back through the congested one-way parking lots of neighboring stores. I always wonder if the city made them do that or the property managers just like wasting everyone's time. It's almost as stupid as the parking lot at Moe's on Wolf Road, which I won't even bother with. Anyway... I've been frequenting this location ever since it opened. What always impresses me is how fast you can get in and out of there when the line is out to the door. As for the staff, several reviewers mention being treated rudely. I can totally see why they would feel that way for two reasons: 1. The entire staff works to maintain forward momentum while taking your order. Although a tactless employee occasionally comes off as being rude or pushy, that's part of the experience--THIS is how Chipotle gets you in and out fast!!! 2. Sometimes workers don't fit in; bad attitudes, poor work ethics, unprofessional commentary, etc. However, every time I feel that way, the next time I come in, that person or persons aren't there anymore. From what I have seen, this Chipotle weeds out troublemakers quickly. Food is consistent and the staff seems to make a sincere effort. read more

This may be some of the best Mexican food I have ever eaten! Higher quality food then most places. Their chicken tacos are some of the freshest tasting tacos I have ever eaten. Everything is made to order, and delicious. They make everything very quickly, and that's good because sometimes the line can be out the door. Go early (5pm) and you can get in and out no problem. Also we have used their online ordering and everything is always ready by the time we get there. Bypass the line and just go up to the register, tell them your name and they will hand you your bag of food. Staff are friendly and helpful. Get the chips and fresh salsa for a nice treat. The food at Chipotle is consistent throughout it's restaurants, and it's damn good! I do want to comment on the staff at this location. I was dining in and there were no straws for the fountain drinks. I thought, not a big deal, I'll just drink it without the lid and I sat down.
