We're passing through on our way to the Bay Area and decided to stop at Chitose Sushi. The food was good--you really can't go wrong ordering anything on the menu. I had the Korean bibimbap, and it turned out to be even better than I expected. The portions were fairly generous, and it had a comforting, home-style flavor. The salmon and tempura were both solid choices as well. I'd probably pass on the ramen next time. It wasn't bad, but it's the type made with dried noodles, so it didn't stand out compared to everything else. The prices were reasonable and on par with such an eatery. Where Chitose Sushi really shines is the service. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, and everyone greeted us with friendly smiles. At the end of our meal, they made an animal balloon for my kid, which was a thoughtful touch. My child really liked it. Overall, the food was consistently good, the prices were fair, and the service was a step above. Oh yea...YELP comes through again. I wanted to see the Odyssey movie and timing was tight. Sylvester's was close but too much, we didn't want to spoil our movie time snacks. It was about $30 bucks. we sat at a booth and we were served warmed edamame, cool...within minutes we were ready to roll. Our plan was to enjoy the sushi during the movie previews. So with a sweatshirt draped over my arm we were scanned and into the theatre, easy. The sushi was great with popcorn and peanut m&m's for dessert. Perfect. First time here, this place rocks from the owner Bia, the Chef James. Super awesome for the beginning till the end. BRIANNA greeted us as we walked in the door. Great personality, sat us down at a nice booth. Their menu was pretty extensive. I must say, so many options to choose from and there are pretty decent prices. We noticed the cowboy roll was $37, we might try that next time, but we'll see. The food was amazing. We ordered the lobster roll with sushi and it came with soup and salad. Our friend ordered another roll. Sky was our server, she was very pleasant with a great sense of humor. Explained to us the menu a little bit. Everything was great. I ordered a few things to give a fair representation in my review: California roll, spicy tuna, hamachi, salmon and salmon skin. The spicy tuna hand roll was the only slight miss as the neon red coloring was a little off-putting. Everything else, especially the salmon skin hand roll was pretty spot-on. I have high standards for 5-star sushi, and this place absolutely destroyed my expectations. I wish I found this sooner! The food was excellent. All rolls tasted great, but we have to highlight the Salmon lovers with its incredible balance of sweet and umami with complex textures such as creamy and crunchy with the shallot slices. It's an absolute flavor bomb. The next must-try is the OMG roll with exciting crunchy battered crawdad pieces on top! You truly feel like you're eating two dishes with this one. We also got the Katsudon and the Unadon bowls and loved the flavors and the texture of the rice. The service here is so attentive with our server being one of the owners herself, who we found out to be celebrating her birthday after seeing folks drop off a flower for. She was super kind and humble (Happy birthday! And thank you for serving us on such a special day!) We felt very taken care of and felt very welcomed. The ambiance was great! The restaurant is very culturally relevant and immersive with their decorations and the theming ties together well, down to their menu. Portion size was good as well. Grilled Pork (looks like Galbi): 5/5 stars. This was so flavorful and tender. I liked it so much I had to get it to go for my family. Salmon special roll: 5/5 stars. This was light and fresh and everything just melted in my mouth. The roe on top made it even better. The sexy roll: 4.5/5 stars. Would be 5/5 stars had it been a little colder in temperature, but the cuts of fish were thick and fresh. This is a great low carb option. Spicy chicken: 4/5 stars. For me it was a little salty and I would have preferred it a little crispier, but I would order this again before it was tasty. And crispy.
