Oh yea...YELP comes through again. I wanted to see the Odyssey movie and timing was tight. Sylvester's was close but too much, we didn't want to spoil our movie time snacks. M said sushi so I looked and there were very favorable reviews for this place. Okay it's on the way. We had about 15 minutes, we went in said sushi to go? The staff smiled and yes we can make anything we are fast. Looked at the picture menu (I love these in Asian restaurants) Dragon roll and a rainbow roll. It was about $30 bucks. we sat at a booth and we were served warmed edamame, cool...within minutes we were ready to roll. Our plan was to enjoy the sushi during the movie previews. So with a sweatshirt draped over my arm we were scanned and into the theatre, easy. The sushi was great with popcorn and peanut m&m's for dessert. Perfect. We decided we'd come back when it was sushi night again and sit down and enjoy a proper meal. Thank You! PS... the theatre was too dark to snap a pic of our sushi at the movies dinner, sorry. Good food great service. I sat at the bar and was greater by a very friendly waiter. My edamame came out right away. My roll and pot stickers came out soon after that. Both were very good. Price was right. Will return if I'm in the area again.

Such a great experience at chitoses. Out of all the sushi places In town(including Paso) this has been one of the best to bring young kids to. The floor plan feels open and spacious and you can easily have a highchair at the end of the table without feeling like you're blocking everyone's access. The staff are all amazing- super sweet and helpful! And of course the food was amazing! All of our rolls were fresh and tasted great!(we got the golden California roll, Vegas roll and rainbow roll); also the garlic edamame was perfectly sauced.

Amazing selection of sushi rolls plus salmon lover appetizer! So good!

This is our favorite go to sushi place! They treat us like family! My kids adore them! We try to go to almost all of our family celebrations there. Love this local small family business. It's always cozy, clean and comfortable. The rolls are soo good!

Yesterday I stopped by and picked up a big tuna roll. It was delicious so we came back tonight for dinner and got takeout again. This time I got an Alaskan roll and a chirashi bowl. I asked for no shrimp, but I didn't check the box before leaving. There was shrimp unfortunately. I was really craving rice today. It also came with miso soup. Overall, the flavors are great. I just wish they had not given me shrimp. The staff is nice though, and the interior is festive for the holidays. This place is clearly very popular and I can tell why.

    Don't order the Chitose roll!

To eat I had the Kanpai Boat for which comes with miso soup, cucumber salad, rice or salad, 10 pc nigiri, 2 or 1 roll(s) of your choice, and 8 pc tataki or sashimi. Everything I had was fresh and was good quality. For $48 (minus tip and tax), this was such a steal! They sat me at a sushi bar with other solo diners. Everything was clean and I had enough room for my sushi boat. The service here was also really good. Overall, I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting SLO looking for good quality sushi at good prices.

It took maybe 30 mins for our food to be made and they came outside to hand it to us, super friendly staff! We ordered rolls: 2 spicy tuna with garlic chips, unagi, rainbow, and hamapeno. All the rolls tastes fresh and were a great portion. The hamapeno definitely has a kick so if you're sensitive to spice be mindful to that one! My favorite was the rainbow row since it had tuna, salmon, albacore, and yellowtail, so you get a taste of everything. I love unagi so that one was just a staple and didn't disappoint. My friend and boyfriend really enjoyed the spicy tuna, especially with the garlic chips adding a contrasting texture. I can see why this place is a staple in SLO!

Goshi is an absolute gem for anyone looking for good quality fish and dedication to preserving and translating Japanese flavors to the California coast. From the moment we walked in, the service was prompt and professional. The lunch specials seemed like the way to go. We got to try a few different rolls; although none blew my mind, each one was solid. The udon broth was a bit dark and salty, but the umami flavors were rich and complex. The shrimp tempura was well-fried and lightly battered. Honestly, the standouts were the miso soup and the yuzu sorbet mochi (perfect refreshing way to end off a meal). Price-wise, I might be spoiled coming from Vancouver, but I thought the dishes were all a bit pricy. However I do think the quality of the fish was quite high, so it didn't feel like the most ridiculous ask. I'd definitely stop by again when passing through the area!

The overall vibe felt like the employees didn't want to be there. Service was extremely slow, and it seemed like they were short-staffed. At one point I went inside for a soda refill and saw one of the employees with her purse out counting cash tips. A few minutes later she was serving food, which wasn't something I expected to see. Our food came out in 15-minute intervals instead of all together, so some of us were finished eating before others even received their meals. We also got drink refills with no ice, which was just another odd detail. To top it off, everyone in our group developed diarrhea just a few hours after eating there. I can't say for certain what caused it, but it was enough that none of us will be returning. Very disappointing experience overall.

So we drove from the airport straight to Momotaro. As soon as we walked in we were greeted warmly and seated right away. The music they were playing was like covers of old hits but I want to say they were in Japanese, which I thought was hella cool. We started off with the sparkling water, I was not drinking tonight, but they had a decent variety of local beers, and Sake, for next time. We ordered the gyoza for the app and I went with the usual Tonkotsu ramen. The gyoza came out and it looked like they had some cheese crisp on top, it wasn't, I really don't know what it was but it was tasty. Good job on that plus the presentation was nice. Then the ramen came out. I noticed that my noods were thinner compared to her's, so I asked my waiter, do you make your own noods here? He was nice enough to go back and check with the chef because he was not sure. Turns out that they import the noods from Japan. What?!?! My thought is if you don't make your noods in house, getting them straight from Japan will do...I guess. The pork was nice and soft and veggies were cooked perfect and the broth was amazing. I'd certainly go back. Nice place for a date night. I think they close at 9, so you have to plan accordingly. When the check came, it was inside an old cassette tape case. We both thought was was cool. I can't wait to come back and try the other offerings.
