I recently found Chixy Natural on my handy dandy Yelp app. I was specifically interested in going there to try their Paleo bowl, which has sweet potatoes on the bottom, carrots, broccoli and the most tastiest chicken on top. It's served with your choice of sauce on the side. I selected the lemon garlic sauce, which was outstanding! I couldn't believe how yummy this Paleo bowl was! The chicken is very moist and they are very generous with the amount that you get. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and the sweet potatoes added that extra touch. The cost was $10.50, which is very reasonable for the amount that you get. They are located in a small shopping center off of 17th street in Newport Beach. Parking can be tough to find in that lot, as it's not very big. I arrived around 11:30 am for lunch, and was lucky to find an open parking spot. I'm not sure where else you could park if it's filled - perhaps street parking? Upon arrival, I was greeted by a nice lady who appeared to be the owner. She was very sweet and took my order at the cash register and prepared my meal for me. There were 2 other workers in the background but I think they were doing prep work. This fast casual place is not very big at all, but it was clean. I decided to eat half of the bowl there, and save the other half for leftovers. I probably could've eaten it all in one sitting. I had to force myself to put my fork down (it was THAT good). In addition to the Paleo bowl, they also have soups, salads, wraps, chicken combos and various other bowls. New owners have destroyed this once great little restaurant that I frequented since its opening. The "quarter chicken" is actually an "eighth" of a chicken, or a quarter of a Cornish game hen, (which is a midget sized chicken). It was an insult for $13. He claims healthy chickens are small. Nonsense. Foster Farms are 100% natural antibiotic free and twice the size. This is insulting the customer's knowledge. A TOP rated nutritional medicine manufacturer of product and practitioner that was anal about purity, recommends Foster Farms to his patients. Then the side dishes are ruined. The beet salad used to be divine, and I didn't even finish it. It was grey, soggy, overcooked, and without flavor. Beets are red, not grey! Same with the coleslaw, I order the same sides EVERY time so I know what they should be. Garbage. So sad. Then when I politely complained, the new owner starts arguing with me, brings the cook out to defend himself, also arguing with me. Unbelievable! I eat lunch in a restaurant EVERYDAY, and I can predict a restaurants demise with 90% accuracy. They'll be gone within a year unless they want to feed their losses. Instead of apologizing for a bad experience and maybe comping me with something they just lost a customer, and a bunch of business for bad press. The stupidity of a business owner to freakin argue with a disappointed customer is an insult and shows the character of someone that doesn't deserve to be in business. Highly discourage dining here. I've been many times over the years and the food is always fresh, flavorful and satiating. My go to is the chicken paleo bowl with the lemon garlic sauce. It's so good it's been hard to try anything else. I also love the cornbread and gluten free cookies. I feel really good after eating here and love the clean ingredients and affordable prices. None of that gizzard, thigh, wings, etc. I got tired of Boston market and chicken maison has always been my go to for a healthy meal. Chixy was bookmarked a long time go and I decided to give them a shot. So glad I did! It's in the same small plaza as banzai bowls and bomburger. The restaurant is small and seats maybe 15? The sauce bar has a large variety of dressings, dips, and sauces to choose from for your salad/meal. I love the simplicity of the menu and this place is perfect for the health conscious or those on restrictive diets like PALEO! They have a section on the menu designated just for Paleo peeps! No more worrying about what the cashier thinks when I have to modify meals that cater to my diet lol. I got the 1/4 white (extra 90 cents?) with cole slaw, steamed veggies, and the meal comes with corn bread or tortillas. I chose corn bread although it looked more like corn muffin lol. The chicken was flavorful in its rotisserie spices and most importantly of all, it wasn't dry!! Most of the times people complain the breast being dry but I didn't have an issue. Cole slaw wasn't mayo based which is a plus and it had pineapple pieces to sweeten it up with the acidity from the vinegar. Steamed veggies were perfect and you even have an option to pay extra for no carrots! The sauces I liked with my chicken were the ginger sesame & honey mustard. Corn bread was fluffy inside and had a hint of sweetness, but I would still prefer souplantation's. The gravy was just ok, needs more umph to it. Nice to have found another healthy rotisserie place to switch between. If I ever get lazy to make dinner after work I'm just going to stop by and get their chicken with sweet potato combo lol. The only cons is that it's a bit pricey. Sure you can go to Costco and buy a whole rotisserie chicken for cheap, but it doesn't taste as clean as chixy's read more
