I met the owner, Joanne and she was setting up the tables and explained that she moved from another location. It's a large store and the perfect place to get holiday gifts, or gifts for any occasion. I was trying to order the California Milk Brittle (milk chocolate version), but I could not find the option on DoorDash. I called the store politely asking whether they could simply substitute or replace the item with the half-pound bag. The employee initially told me they could probably do it but needed manager approval. Then she said the manager was unavailable for 30 minutes to an hour because she was in a meeting. Right after that, she changed the story and suddenly said the manager would not be available until tomorrow. I explained that I was only asking if they could do a simple courtesy replacement or substitution, but the tone throughout the call felt dismissive and unnecessarily rude. As someone who has been a loyal customer and specifically loves the California Milk Brittle, these repeated negative interactions with the Sherman Oaks location have been very disappointing.
