This place never fails. They really do have the best borekas. On their own they are delicious, but with the tomato pulp it is the perfect balance. I love their homemade pickles, though I would love them even more if they were crunchy. We tried the chocolate borekas for the first time and it was such a nice sweet treat. I also love that whenever my family visits, this is what I order for early morning breakfast delivery. It always hits the spot.

My BF couldn't wait and grabbed half of a hard boiled egg before I had a chance to snap this pic of our feast.

Braving the parking lot around lunch time was worth it! The strip mall where Bo*re*kas is located is jammed full of shops and restaurants, and it could be easy to miss this little spot if you're heading east on Ventura and not looking carefully. Parking is free, but it might take you a while to find a spot. My BF and I came here the other day before it got really busy and I was so happy to finally be able to introduce him to a kosher restaurant that he'd never tried before. My BF got 2 of the spinach with cheese and I got one with fungi, onion, and truffle. Don't tell him I said so, but at first I think my BF was thrown off by the word "fungi," but when he saw it was just mushrooms, he looked a bit relieved. He's not a big fan of pickles, but I am, so I got to eat all the pickles!! Yummm. We were pleased with our selections. My BF is more of a purist and ate his borekas plain, but I dove straight into the schug and tomato pulp, which is excellent. I can't handle really spicy foods, but the schug is not too spicy. The hard boiled eggs were cooked just right. I made a mess while I was eating, but I was okay with it. A little dab of schug, a spoonful of tomato pulp, with a bite of hard boiled egg made each bite of boreka like a symphony of flavors of textures that danced across my tastebuds. We didn't even mind that it was sprinkling while we ate since the roof has a little bit of an overhang that provides some shelter. It was really nice actually to be eating hot, freshly made borekas while it was raining a bit. The only thing that could have made this more perfect was if Sonny's Ice Cream was open, but we came on a weekday and Sonny's doesn't open until 2pm during the week.

We have been wanting to come here for some time and wow, how could we have put this off? We got the special box that seemed like "the thing" to get, and wow. Every bite I was in absolute shock at how flavorful and interesting these pastries were. They come with pickles, sauces, and hard boiled eggs and wow--I was drooling between bites, getting territorial over the different options, and even though I had thought of bringing these for an event to share, we ended up getting something else for the event and just enjoying this all to ourselves! Definitely a top spot in LA!

If a boreka is sold out, their Van Nuys location is close by.

Had the Fungi, Onion and Truffle boreka which was crazy good. I usually only like dill pickles but I went to town with their sour ones. I haven't been here in a long time, but now they have more tables and chairs, more so than crates for sitting. Parking- hopefully you'll luck out getting a spot in the lot but there are many other places to eat here. Much appreciation to the very kind employee who added oat milk to my Turkish coffee. Took a risk as I didn't know what cardamom tastes like. It was too strong without milk and sugar. Still need to try the margherita and spinach & cheese borekas. $14 each may seem pricey, but believe me, the quality and divine taste is so worth it!

I am not familiar with the Sherman Oaks area so when I looked up a spot to eat, I was so intrigued by what a Boreka is - I had never heard of it before. And omg do I wish I lived closer to Sherman oaks now just so I could eat these every week! This is my favorite pastry I've ever had. I am a savory person, but I love a flaky crust, so this was right up my alley. Let me say this - the person on Yelp who said you need to order two - they lied, these come with SO much food! You really only need one order per person. But if you'd like to try different flavors, you'll have great leftovers! I tried the fungi, onion, and truffle boreka and the cultured cheese and Za'atar boreka and they were both amazing. At first I liked the Za'atar boreka more, and then I loved the mushroom one more. I kept going back and forth because they are so good. The Za'atar boreka is more unique, but they're both excellent flavors, especially with their hot sauce and tomato pulp. There are a few tables outside, but it is just a window you order from. But the women who helped me with my order were both very kind, and patient and helpful since it was my first time trying a boreka. There is parking - it's in an area with lots of casual restaurants around it. I went at a busier time, around 3 pm (not recommended - the Borekas sell out and I came right before they did. They are normally sold out before that) so I did have to do a loop around the parking lot before I found a spot, but it's pretty easy. I will keep recommending this spot over and over. It's so good!

Borekas! $14. Never had it before but was dying to try it. They definitely are a tasty treat. It was super flaky and crisp. I thoroughly enjoyed the potato and brown butter as well as the spinach. The tomato sauce was a nice compliment. I enjoyed the pickles and the egg on the side.

    So good!
    Mark M.

I seriously think I have tried all the borekas here and each one has been amazing. This includes the potato and brown butter, the fungi, onion and truffle, the spinach and cheese, and the cultured cheese and za'atar. I love how each bite matches or exceeds my expectations and I really like the mixture of what is in each box! The hours at this location are early, so get there before or after the rush. This is definitely a great breakfast and brunch spot! I have never seen it empty during business hours since there is usually more than one person in line or waiting for their order. There really are a lot of Mediterranean flavors within these warm and flaky pastries!

    Natalia M.

Prices are unbeatable, taste amazing and super quick. Makes sense to me why stuff sells out so fast here. Can't wait to come back and try more stuff!! (Seating is outside only but food stays hot and it's amazing when you get home to eat it!)

    Michelle L.

I've had this spot bookmarked for a while and finally got around to trying it today. It's grab and go style, but there are a few tables outside in case you want to enjoy your food right away. I ordered one potato & brown butter and one spinach & cheese. Both were soo delicious. The texture of the pastry was perfect, and the fillings were well seasoned and flavorful. I loved the variety of sides and sauces they provided too. I recommend ordering online to skip the line!

    Naomi W.

Delicious! Been wanting to try this spot for a while as I've seen it hyped up all over social media. Saw that they were running a promo on Uber Eats so decided to order. Pastry is so flaky and perfect. I got the potato & brown butter as well as the cheese and zaatar. Loved that it comes with sauce and side of eggs and pickles. Definitely will order again!

I've been wanting to try Borekas, although this whole time I was expecting to see a display of pastries, not knowing it was a savory flaky, similar to croissant like bread, but I've got to return for the chocolate or the pudding I saw on the menu. It was really good, the young woman was kind and they kept busy right away. There's only outdoor seating, but the mini stools and tables are perfect to have a quick bite there.

Omg, this place is awesome. Everything I love made so well. Here are a few things to note: It's a walk up counter with some outdoor seating. The service is very quick and friendly. If you like zaghtar you will love this zaghtar with cheese. They also have Nutella boreks. Everything was amazing and my clients loved it.

    Mushroom, spinach
    Danielle H.

Excellent borekas. I love the flaky crust this place uses over the pita-style dough you get from other locations. The mushroom and the spinach are my favorite flavors.

It was super chaotic because no one knew how to order since you either have to order via the QR code on your table or at the register, so the manager had to step in and assign roles to everyone. They have a cute outdoor patio and also a semi open indoor patio (it's the best way I can describe it). You have to order your food inside the cafe but you cannot sit in there, it's too small and they do not have tables. I did not order food so I cannot give an opinion about it. I ordered a large English breakfast hot tea with steamed oat milk on the side. Technically it's not a latte but on my receipt it says latte and they charged me $6.50 for it. Then, they added $2 for large. I am guessing for the large cup? For the oat milk I paid an extra $0.95. After tax I ended up paying $10.37 for a bag of tea and some oat milk which is pretty HILARIOUS!!!! The owner must be pretty delusional but also rich! I have never paid such a ridiculous price for a simple tea but maybe they sprinkled it with some gold dust which would justify the exorbitant amount! Anyway I sat outside on the outdoor patio and I realized that the patrons there are special people (or at least that's how they see themselves). The vibe is pretty pretentious but I was just minding my own business and enjoying my peace which got quickly disturbed by two wannabe actors who sat right next to me and started speaking so loud because you know how they like for others to hear about their impressive resume. LOL So to sum up I won't be returning mainly because they rip you off! They should rename the place sweet butter & sour bill!

They had exactly what I was searching for and a cozy, and very thoughtful neighborhood brunch spot. The service was super amicable and it's easily accessible, a short walk away. Also, since I started my micro-dose GlP1 journey to shed 15lbs. The tummy is super sensitive to high sugar, saturated fats, and unhealthy foodies. And Twinty has a menu that is both gentle and healthy. I appreciate that, esp bc foodies have become a more complex and specific palate lately, Will be back for another Matcha Smoothie, possibly today to start my day right. Thanks guys.

I wanted to try a new place out for lunch and my friend recommended Twinty Cafe! Upon arrival I…read morenoticed it's a dog friendly restaurant with a cute water bowl station for canines. There's indoor and outdoor seating options. I was greated by an employee who thought I needed help with directions because Ineas standing outside alone. "I'm just waiting for a friend." I replied. My friend arrived and we entered Twinty Cafe. There were customers deep into their typing on their laptops and an earlies 20's couple into share loving glances at one another. The interior was very clean with exposed brick and lots of earth tones. Ordering our food and drinks we saw that the work area was clean and organized. Our server was helpful enough to not put chilli flakes on my friend's avocado toast. We ordered our food & drinks and got a number to take to our table. We ate outside and had a pleasant time. Great place to people watch.

I wish I had read my last review from 9 yrs ago before revisiting this place today…read more Let me tell you about the good things first... this won't take long. Kelley, our server, was a sweetheart. And the glass of wine was a nice pour and a decent wine. I like that they let you in for something to drink before officially opening for the day. Cue record scratch... now about that food. No, we did not order the wrong thing and no, IMO, they were not just having a bad day. Look at these Huevos Rancheros with "house hash, tostadas and 3 eggs"... those are chips (I think from a bag of tortilla chips) so not really a tostada, no way there were three eggs in that thing (from what I could see)... not sure what the "house hash" is but nothing I could identify on the plate. I know a lot of people might leave a restaurant and say "I could have made that at home" but there is no way I would make something this crappy at home. LOOK at this Avocado Toast with "avocado spread"... that is some thin smear of something green but when you are calling something "Avocado Toast" there should be a substantial amount of the hero ingredient (and maybe not call it "avocado spread" on your menu description. To me, that says, "Look we don't want to call this a "rustic mash of avocado" or "Hass smash" or "hand-crushed ripe avocado" because we know you are actually going to SEE it in front of you in about 15 minutes and "avocado spread" won't lead to a major disappointment." But it did. And this slab of dry plywood that they were calling toast. I turned to my wife and in my best Sebastian Manascalco said, "Why would you do that??" This place mostly failed on food. The food at the other tables looked equally pathetic. Gotta say... all of the cooked egg components of each dish were decent but the rest of the items were like WTF? Ambiance? It's OK... I mean it was a bar with a ton of TVs going. Semi-nice vibe for a sports bar... lots of room. Just can't get over the food. We ate about half of our sodium bombs and left. But parts of the eggs were lovely... as was Kelley.
