I've been wanting to go and try "Mother's Bread" for some time, gosh, what was taking me so long! OMG, as soon as you open the door, you can smell the freshly baked bread. Nick was so nice & helpful, explaining my questions and of course the Georgian bread. Light and fluffy inside with a nice crispy crust, I asked for the sourdough one, that he gave me. I can't wait to try the Khachapuri " with one of your choices of three different cheeses, bread. Everything is made daily at location. He said I can freeze it as well. But as you can see in pictures, couldn't wait until I got home, I started eating one end of the bread. I finish half the loaf OMG! You have to try at least once if you're in Sherman Oaks or wherever you are drive-by and pick up a few of the different loafs the offer to start.

    Pear lemonade

This was my second time visiting Mother's Bread, and I had to finally write a review. I got their khachapuri (Georgian cheese bread) again, and it was delicious. It honestly reminded me of the times I visited Georgia and had fresh khachapuri there. They also have Zandukeli Georgian lemonade, including the pear flavor, which brought back some really good memories. It's a small detail, but having the actual Georgian lemonade with the food makes the experience even better. Really happy I found this place. If you like Georgian food, definitely give Mother's Bread a try. Highly recommend!

Highly recommend both sourdough and Georgian traditional bread. This is a good as it gets. I've also tried their pan fried Khachapuri, which was great too!

I happen to be driving to meet a friend for dinner. I saw this place and was curious. I am so happy that I walked in. The owner was such a wonderful man. He was so welcoming. I sample the bread and I couldn't take just one home. The bread is delicious. I highly recommend it.

So glad to have this special bakery in the area! It has become a weekend ritual for me and my family. The bread is so fresh, and delicious! Perfect with a morning beverage, the kids love to break off pieces for themselves. The bakers are so friendly and proudly tell you about the breads. Clean and authentic atmosphere. This is perfect to bring to someone's house- switch it up from a regular box of donuts or bagels. I love it plain or with butter, and would make awesome sandwiches too! My sensitive stomach feels good afterwards too, so it's a treat that I can truly enjoy!!

The bread I chose. I ate HALF the loaf in a couple of hours on my long drive home

I was walking down the strip when the charming, heartfelt mural on the front wall immediately caught my attention. Something about it quietly said, "Go inside." As a pretty introverted person, that's not a feeling I often get from a shop -- but this place felt different, so I walked in. Inside, I found a genuinely kind man and shelves lined with freshly baked bread wrapped in simple white paper bags. The pricing was refreshingly straightforward: $6 for the smaller loaf and $20 for the larger sourdough, which looked perfect for a family gathering. Since it was just me -- and the bread accompanying me on my long drive back to San Diego -- I chose the smaller loaf. The bread itself reflected the bakery perfectly: simple, honest, and thoughtfully made. It tasted like it was crafted from just a handful of quality ingredients, with nothing unnecessary added -- only what was needed, done carefully and well. You can tell this bread was made with patience, love, and memories of home. I highly recommend stopping in to support this local bakery, which only opened a couple of months ago. It's the kind of place that reminds you how special small community businesses can be.

What a little hidden gem! Just around the corner from the Great Greek. Bread was hot and delicious. Had a great crunch and perfect density. Came out to about $6 per loaf and looks like they also sell some jams and spices. Will be coming back!

If you love sourdough... try it. So glad it's in my neighborhood. Dipped it in olive oil and balsamic. Yum!

Customer service can be hit or miss. Yesterday, it was something in between. I normally don't update reviews unless some things change from good to bad and vice versa. After leaving the restaurant, I had a sweet tooth. Decided to stop by this bakery which is located inside Gelson's Market and buy few pastries for the house. Mostly for their mini Eclairs that are filled with delicious, Vanilla custard and coated with chocolate cream. Well, once again they were out! Was greeted by Esther, one of their managers. Somewhat friendly and helpful. Was trying hard to impress. I told her I need 8 pieces of individual pastries. Right away she got the box ready and stocked all my favorite pastries in them. Got 2 slices of Parisian pastries,($9.00), 4 slices of their Vanilla Custard ($15.80), (which is one of my favorites) super light in taste and texture. Last, but not least, got 2 of their regular Eclairs ($9:00). Total came out to be $33.60. Every time I get some lame excuse from their employees such as come back tomorrow, we only have them in the mornings, or the best one, we only have them Friday to Sunday. Well, yesterday was Friday & no mini Eclairs. Time of my arrival was 8:40AM--7/17/26. Esther told me they get them in after 11AM. Not true. I went back just to check and still no mini Eclairs. So Ester, the manager was lying. They also have cakes, cookies, their Alligator tart that has a lot of nuts. Variety of cold and hot drinks: Coffee, Latte, Espresso and more. Plenty of parking spaces. The bakery was very clean and had maybe 2 other employees working there. Expensive, but very yummy. They also sell bread. Freshly baked. Can customize any cake according to your preference and liking. For any occasion.. Go check them out and see which one is your favorite?? Make sure you don't ask for mini Eclairs!!:-)LOL.

The mini pineapple upside down cake caught my eye & for only $4.95, why not? The caramelized pineapple had the perfect amount of sweetness, which was highlighted by the maraschino cherry. The downside, dare I write "upside downside," was that the cake was overcooked & burnt on the bottom. This made it dry. Unfortunately, the receipt states that all sales are final which is sad because no one reasonably wants or expects cake to be burnt! *The company website on the bottom of the receipt is pointless; I included a photo of what appears after typing ViktorBenes.com into a browser.

I contacted the baker about a Blippi and Meekah-themed 6-inch cake. The quote was $145 for the cake plus $25 for an edible image, for a $170 total before the amount later identified as tax. Free pickup was offered. I was dealing with several important things at the time and did not respond to the initial quote immediately, but I prepared my confirmation on September 12, the date given to decide and contacted the baker on September 13 to confirm the order. She accepted the order and provided payment instructions. I do not use Zelle or Venmo, but I have Cash App and was prepared to either pay cash in full in person or the deposit that way. Before sending the deposit, I asked one simple question: why was the total $186.63, including $16.63 in tax, when the quoted cake and edible image totaled $170? I was simply asking for clarification before paying. I asked because my understanding of California Department of Tax and Fee Administration guidance is that a whole cake sold to go is generally not subject to sales tax. I wanted to understand the basis for the additional charge before making my payment. I was not refusing to pay; I was asking for clarification. Instead of answering the question, the baker abruptly canceled my order. I attempted to call to discuss it directly, but was sent to her voicemail mailbox which was full and I could not leave a message. Afterward, she explained that she had become uneasy about the order and said she was canceling for the best. ‍ She also characterized my statement that I would accurately review my experience on Yelp as a threat of a bad review, which is not something I would do. I would never threaten anyone. I was explaining that I would give an honest account of my actual customer experience which is what Yelp is all about. What disappointed me most was that the order had been accepted and confirmed, yet asking a question about a charge resulted in the order being canceled rather than the charge being explained. I am a disabled grandmother and was trying to arrange a special birthday cake for my granddaughter's party. I would have preferred a simple answer to my question and a completed order. Based on my experience, I would not order from this business again. but instead I will go to back ordering from Nothin Bundt or Susies Cakes and just order the toppers online, that way I know what I am getting with no hidden fees.
