If one of my enemies asks where they should get coffee, I tell them Chocolate Holler (even bad people deserve good coffee). I cannot begin to explain how much I love this place. There's tons of seating and outlets, the staff is super friendly and helpful, and the menu/drinks/food are amazing. For a coffee lover like me, they're lattes or amazing and the sizes are more than fair for the price. For those that don't love caffeine, the specialty hot chocolates are wonderful and have homemade whipped cream. You can also add espresso to any of their hot chocolates which is also amazing. I love this place!! Large windows and wood tables that someone made for the shop? Yes! The guys at the register were super personable and even knew one of my friends in the group. They gave us some of the customer favorites from the menu and even mentioned their own preferences. The space is very open with the vintage type light fixtures you've probably seen on Fixer Upper (Joanna and Chip Gaines, if you aren't familiar). There is lots of black, even the walls in the bathroom. It can make a room feel much smaller, but the natural light from the windows compensated for that. They also had some white chairs which helped balance the dark color scheme. I ordered an iced drink that had a name with butterscotch in it. It was so good! I will say, their prices for some of the specialty drinks are comparable to Starbucks so be prepared to spend a little more than your typical, local coffee shop. I actually ended up spilling my drink as my sister accidentally knocked it from my hand when she knocked over a chair. They gave the second drink for free! So nice of them!! My friends also loved what they had: chocolate mint (or a name referring to the Girl Scout thin mint type thing), honey bee, and maybe a few other things. We all added espresso which enhanced the flavors! It wasn't busy, so we sat and talked a while by one of the long wooden bar tables in front of their logo. It's a great place to come and study or just kick it with a few friends. Yes yes yesss!! That's my response when my friend asks if I want to go to the Chocolate Holler. I feel like cities like New York and Boston are full of these novelty stores at every corner. I can't believe we have this little gem all to ourselves in Lexington! I love coffee as I love chocolate. It's a genius idea to combine two of many people's greatest loves! I have had one of their iced drinks in the summer and enjoyed it. If you want to go for a hot chocolate, I'd recommend Cookie Butter if you have a sweet tooth or Sleeping Bear for a more classic hot cocoa experience. Caffeine junkie? Pop in an espresso shot! Feeling extra adventurous? Ask the very knowledgable baristas for more suggestions. The world is your oyster! I have yet to try the drinking chocolate myself, but I can only it imagine it tastes as amazing as it sounds. This is a great place to grab a dessert with friends and play some board games. You can also make it a pit stop on your date and gently wipe off the melted chocolate/whipped cream at the corner of their mouth. It may be a little noisy to study here but it's a nice environment if you can concentrate among the chatters and resist playing with cute dogs. Love love love! read more

This shop is one of a kind. The service is impeccable and the baristas are super helpful for first timers. They provide WiFi, plenty of tables, small selection of desserts, hot chocolates, and coffee! There is a small parking lot in front and during off hours you can park behind location as well. I ordered the Sleeping bear hot chocolate with almond milk + no whip cream and it was delicious. The hot chocolate very smooth and not overly sweet, probably due to the cocoa butter. Highly recommend this place for meeting up with friends or if you're looking for a place to get some work done. read more

For years, I've been inviting people to "coffee," which to me always meant "You can get coffee, and I'll sip some kind of hot chocolate over here." Well, finally, my people have a place! I came for the friends and family tasting night, and everything I tried was delicious. They have hot chocolates ranging from 40-72%, flavored drinks, and ones mixed with coffee. There are also baked goods up front and a section of chocolate bars at the back. I got my hands on about eight different samples tonight and would happily order most again. The shop should be completely open in February, and I'm sure I'll be back to commune with my people over a flight of hot chocolate. read more

I loved the atmosphere from the moment I stepped through the door!! I have huge appreciation for the Pay-It-Forward nook, I really love those sorts of kindness and community building movements. I ordered a chocolate cookie for my son and a Chocolate Blossom for myself. I didn't expect to care much for the cookie but it was PERFECT. It was soft and light and not-too-rich and awesome! I was expecting the hot chocolate to be too rich as well and ordered a short not expecting to be able to handle more than that. But then I took a sip of this DELIGHTFUL concoction and immediately wished for more! It was so very balanced. The flavor was wonderful and it was not too rich- it was just right!! The service is a friendly with a greeting to everyone who comes through the door. The space feels good. I'm having a wonderful time. Umm. Oh my gosh. This is what my dreams are made of. Everything was absolutely incredible. The atmosphere was fantastic. It was a place that encouraged you to sit down and talk. Or study. Or read. Or just take a break. I felt comfortable and relaxed when I walked in. The girl behind the counter was the sweetest. She was so accountable. Making sure we had water - even offering water to go. She was knowledgeable and told us details about the different options. And gave us her favorite recommendations . I had a flight of 3 chocolates. One super dark, one milk chocolate and one with cinnamon and vanilla notes. They literally melted the chocolate bar in steamed milk. So stinkin good. The dark chocolate one was 72% cocoa. And tasted like molten lava cake. The hubby had a Sleeping Bear. It was chocolate and cinnamon. With shots of espresso. So like a fancy mocha. Mmm. I wish this place was in Cleveland, Ohio. What a pleasure it was to visit this establishment and I was so sad that I haven't been here before. Attention all chocolate and coffee lovers this is the place for you! Super cute and quaint place that specializes in a variety of hot chocolate drinks. I have to say that the barista was so friendly and welcoming. It really made me feel at home. I ordered the sleeping bear with a shot of espresso (that will wake that bear right up) which is a blend of chocolate, cocoa butter, and cinnamon. The place is super cute but we came here for an event to have some family fun and the FB post was super misleading. The event was from 12-6. We got here at 4:45 since I had to work and there were no pumpkins let to paint (apparently it was a bring your own pumpkin but they purchased 22 for parents who forgot even though the FB event specified Free) and they had a small fire pit (like the one I have at home) with no smores ingredients left which btw they only gave you graham crackers and marsh mellows and you have to purchase the chocolate from them which is between $1-$15. Also, the hot chocolate and coffee that was supposed to be free was a mistake and they were charging. On the bright side, they did have corn hole and jenga and a few adult games. This pretty much was a waste of time for a family activity but hey...at least we know where this place is if we want to spend some money. read more
