Alllllll the chocolate!!!! Came here saying we'd just get caffeine and I got a sugar feee almond breve latte, friends ordered a mocha and chai... and then we all succumbed to the truffles. We got marionberry chocolate, chocolate hazelnut, Irish cream, kahlua, milk chocolate coconut, and a bunch of others. It was excessive, it was great. The staff behind the counter was incredibly helpful getting us squared away as we rambled and asked about the different truffle ingredients and flavor profiles. TW: suicide. I came to the Greenwood Chocolati on a Saturday morning with two of my friends. There were two people working and we were served quickly. The drinks were fine. The bartenders were joking about playing the same song on repeat all morning. First they played a song by One Direction, then one by Justin Bieber. Then they moved on to playing Beautiful Girl by Sean Kingston. If you're not familiar, a line in the chorus says "she had me suicidal, suicidal, when she said it's over". They played this song three times. Playing the song once might have been a joke or a gross over sight, but playing it multiple times at a loud volume really sucked. If you'd like to go to Chocolati, I cannot recommend the Wallingford location enough, the staff is friendly, the atmosphere is lowkey, and the chai latte is the best in Seattle. read more

It was really difficult to enjoy my chai latte yesterday after the racist interaction I had with the cashier there. I went in with my adult daughter yesterday morning when this happened. There was a caucasian mother and her young child ahead of us, we were still looking at the menu board when she said to my daughter and I that we can go ahead since she was still deciding. So my daughter and I get to the register to place our order when the super rude cashier, just as I'm about to place my order, motions very sternly for me to wait, like we did something wrong and asks the mother with her small child very sweetly if they were ready to order. Like my daughter and I would just cut in line! I felt his condescending attitude when he was trying to apologize to us when it became crystal clear that he was treating us this way because we are Hispanic. Huzzah to Chocolati for having the absolute BEST hot chocolate around! My wife and I stopped here on our way home from running errands, for we were in need of a little sweet delight and pick-me-up. Our taste buds were in for a treat as we indulged them in a great selection of chocolate and desserts. For drinks, we decided to go with their house hot chocolates (we could get coffee drinks in lots of places, but wanted to get what they're known for). My wife got the regular hot chocolate and I got the Vader hot chocolate (raspberry flavored). Holy Smokes were they good! They used real melted chocolate in each and whatever they used for raspberry tasted like the real thing...not like the usual generic liquid flavorings that lots of other places use. Appropriately sweet and hot -- they were wonderful and we'd certainly get another one the next time in. They have lot's of other hot chocolate options to chose from (lavender, Irish cream, Aztec, etc.). We also some edible treats as well. Had the gluten free lemon bar and fell in love with it too. It looked/tasted very similar to the lemon bars at Nuflours Gluten Free Bakery (not sure if they got the bars from there or not). Does matter where they get them from . . . they're good. Lastly, we got some chocolates too. They have lots of truffles to chose from . . . something for everyone's taste. When in Greenwood and in need of a little treat, Chocolti is a must. I was in Greenwood for a meeting and was needing some coffee as a pick me. Saw this cute little gem and had to give it a shot. Immediately walking in I was greeted by my favorite smell...COFFEE and CHOCOLATE. My eyes were immediately drawn to the display case of handmade artisan chocolates. From Thai ginger chocolate truffles to the dark chocolate topped with sea salt. I told them its my first time and I got a free truffle (white peanut butter truffle...HEAVENLY). My sister ordered their hot chocolate with lavender and I stuck with a personal favorite strawberry Italian soda. I was jealous with her drink because it was delish. We both love chocolate and this was not heavy and the lavender gave it a nice finish. Chocolati is by far my favorite coffee shop in Greenwood. Delicious coffee and hot chocolate, a spacious and welcoming atmosphere, and friendly staff (special shout outs to Nick, Nicki, and Frankie). The late store hours (normally open until 11:30pm) have saved my life on numerous occasions when I needed an evening caffeine boost or a place to work with Wi-Fi outside of the house. I also appreciate how eco-friendly this shop is; to-go cups, lids, and straws are all compostable! Top that all off with the fact that they offer discounts to students and those who work in the neighborhood and showcase local art around the store, and this is truly a core establishment in the Greenwood community. Tip: Check out their back patio on a warm, sunny day when you want a place to enjoy your iced beverage. I forgot to mention that Chocolati makes awesome favors for weddings! I was in a wedding and they use elements of Chocolati in their wedding! For the bridesmaids gifts, the bride had customized chocolate dipped fortune cookies that had quirky and funny sayings in them. Not only were they super cute but they were yummy! For the wedding itself, they had an entire bar set up of different chocolate truffles and candy from Chocolati! Seriously the best candy bar I've seen to date. They also made these chocolate trees/bushes that the wedding party could take home! I'll post a picture of these elements! They also had their wedding rehearsal at Chocolati. We were able to eat a lot of candy and try their delicious drinks before the wedding. Even if you're not getting married, you should pop by one of their stores for some tasty drinks and chocolates. Now that I'm planning my own wedding, I immediately thought of Chocolati for my own wedding favors and dessert bar. They ship outside of Seattle, too! I highly recommend them! Stopped in for an afternoon to catch up with a friend who lives nearby...original plan was the green bean, but alas, church trumps drugs so they were closed for talking in tongues.. The girl behind the counter was chilly & busy, and did not even crack a smile at the casual smile & silliness I tossed her way. : | I inquired if the strawberry flavored chocolates were flavored with real oils, or artificial. "Artificial I think....Honestly, I don't actually know." I asked about the sizes of chocolate boxes we can fill. She attempted to push me to buy the existing boxes in the shelf. Nah, me like choice. Got a 4-pack for my love and a couple loose fish. The chocolate is tasty, sweeter than most handmade in Seattle, not spectacular, better than drugstore waxy crap, of course...but not like the seasalt caramels recently had at Purple. Coffee was ok. Milk was fresh. Bathroom exists. Floors need a sweep. Fluffy Chairs are abused and a tad stinky. We stayed and hogged a table for game. I lost, repeatedly, to the Boggle Goddess...freak. One of the best hot chocolates I've had! They use non-dairy liquid chocolate for the base and they have soy milk as an option so that was great for someone sensitive to lactose like me. It was very rich and creamy. They have different flavors too, such as the Aztec which was cinnamon and almond which I had. I was looking for a good coffee shop like place to study in Seattle, so I did some research on Yelp and picked Chocolati Cafe -- I was not dissappointed! To date YELP has NEVER steered me wrong. Chocolati has chocolate everything! If you tell them it's your first time you get to pick out a complimentary truffle. I chose the nutmeg truffle and you could tell the nutmeg was fresh ground! Yum. I also tried a small mug of their REAL dark hot chocolate and it was delicious! House made fresh whipped cream too :) Their chocolate has no dairy or added sugar, and is essentially vegan - although they don't label it as such. They also have coffee and a fair tea selection, lots of chocolates (goes without saying) and a few pastries/cookies. I also bought a CHOCOLATE COATED AND STUFFED FRESH FIG chocolate thing to take home. It's in my fridge and I am waiting for the perfect time to eat it. It's heavy (with chocolate) and looks fantastic! I didn't have a sugar crash after my chocolate mug either = +++ There is plenty of place to study, the back just keeps going! Nice combo of large and small tables, and useful plugs and lights. It's also has the perfect amount of noise - good music not too loud not too soft. The bathroom is centrally located, clean, and easy to find (a must for a girl in a coffee shop). I spent my whole afternoon/evening here and it was all quite pleasant! There is even a very large table in the back and there was a LARGE group studying in there when I arrived. Not sure if you can reserve the table for groups, so it's worth asking. Parking is on the street. I went on a Sunday and didn't have any issues. There are plenty of side streets thought that don't have the 2-hour label so during weekdays parking should be slightly hard, but doable. What a blessing to have Chocolati in my 'hood. For my first trip, I brought an out of town guest. I conned her out of ordering dessert at dinner, preferring to turn her on to somewhere special for after-dinner sweets. I crossed my fingers & pulled in to Chocolati. We wound up sitting, sipping, noshing chocolates and (confession) assorted chocolates To Go! My next couple visits were for mid-morning business meetings. We were able to hold an informal meeting, in cozy overstuffed chairs, sipping the best vanilla latte I've ever tasted. The people who work here are so nice. I had a Chinook Book coupon and decided to redeem it at this location. I got a triple shot Americano with soy and it was pretty good and my friend got a Horchata. Both were really tasty. That was all we were going to order but the cashier suggested that we maximize our 50% coupon by ordering some dessert or more items. What a brilliant idea. We got a brownie and a piece of chocolate. It was such a treat and it was all half off!! The cashier was so nice and gave us tips on nearby places to have our drinks. The barista was also really nice. I saw this caldron with lots of bubbling chocolate and asked her what it was and she picked up two spoons and dipped it inside and gave us a taste of this really milky /delicious hot chocolate. One of the things that I absolutely love about Seattle, and Wallingford in particular, is the vast amount of unique businesses, like a (hot) chocolate shop. I mean, I'm sure they exist in Los Angeles (my former home), but I never actually saw one. And to have one in such close proximity to my apartment just makes me love this place that much more. I love everything about Chocolati Cafe. The entrance is inviting; there are several tables (including an upstairs) for people to park for a bit and study, surf the net, etc.; the drinks are the answer to all of my prayers on a cold, rainy day; the chocolates are divine, there are always deals (Yelp, FourSquare, Facebook, etc.); the shop is located right next to Jhanjay Thai (so tasty) and across the street from Fuel Coffee and The Sock Monster (two of my favorite Wallingford haunts); and the staff is always very friendly. It's also really fun to eavesdrop on conversations in here. There seems to be a lot of students that come to study here, but there also seem to be a lot of people who meet here to plan events, etc. I'm a big people watcher, and this place has never disappointed on that front. My favorite drink is the Signature Hot Chocolate. It's a perfect mix of chocolate to milk without being overwhelmingly sweet. I've tried the Europa, which is actually made of bittersweet chocolate, and I found that it was actually much sweeter than the Signature. In addition to these, there are a variety of flavors that you can add to your hot chocolate. Like Mexican hot chocolate? This is the place to get one. Spicy, hot, and delicious. Check it out. And if you don't trust me about the drinks, at least try the chocolate. They have chocolate pops in the shape of the Space Needle! Too cute. read more

The place is dirty, the walls need a fresh coat of paint, and the floor needs a redo. The last time I was in, there were no pastries in the case. When I asked when they were going to get some in, the barista said they hadn't had any in while and didn't know when they would get some in. Is this any way to run a business? In addition, the two workers at the time of my last visit were basically having a loud conversation with each other and not even paying attention to the customers in line. I've been to this location once and also received a box of chocolates from here as a gift. The service here is pretty good - nothing extraordinary; there only one register/cashier and one barista. Interior is cozy, but everything looks pretty worn in. I got the dark house hot chocolate and a chocolate covered pretzel stick. The hot chocolate was a bit tooooo chocolatey and thick for my taste, but it might be good for a real chocolate lover! The pretzel was really good!! Love the combination of sweet/salty. Onto the chocolates/truffles. I received a mixed box of 12 as a gift and wowwww they were all awesome. And SO beautiful! I don't know what any of them were since I didn't choose but I didn't dislike any of the flavors/fillings!! The chocolate is rich and high quality. I had received a gift card for Chocolati. The first time I tried to use it the cashier didn't know how to accept a gift card. The second time I spent about 10 bucks and all was fine, leaving a $15 balance, which she told me but did not give me a receipt to verify that. Today I went in to use the balance and was told my card was not valid. It's not legal to expire a gift card so I guess this was their way around it - to decline the card. It did not show up as zero balance. Very irritating. Chocolates are fine but I won't be back. there are lots of other yummy chocolate shops in Seattle who operate with integrity. read more
