The establishment is nice, clean and quiet. We went for dinner on a Sunday night and were surprised to see so few people in the restaurant but I guess it's a hidden gem in the parking lot next to Target. We ordered the dumplings appetizer, orange chicken and Mongolian Beef with steamed rice. The orange chicken was hands down the best thing we ordered - it was fresh and crispy. I loved that it wasn't overly sweet; the sauce was tangy with a hint of spice. The Mongolian Beef so fork tender but I wanted a little more flavor. However, the meat to onion ratio was good so worth the price. The dumplings were great but they came out after the main dishes so we were already stuffed. We took the majority of them home to eat for lunch - but as a bonus, they reheat well. Bottom line, we would go back and look forward to trying more dishes. read more

Several years ago I went to a Szechuan restaurant in Shanghai and had an amazing meal of Szechuan tofu which I can remember like to was yesterday. While in Richardson on business, a colleague suggested Chongqing house as she had no interest in going to a BBQ place. I was bowled over by the meal at Chongqing house...this is the first time I have had a meal anything close to that memorable meal in Shanghai. The food at chongqing is amazingly good! The restaurant itself is pretty nondescript in the middle of a shopping center strip mall. The staff's command of English is limited, but thankfully the menu is easy to navigate and makes it easy to communicate what to order. Bring your own wine or beer if you want it as they do not serve alcohol. Be adventurous and try some things you might not know. The Bok Choy with garlic is awesome but the chicken with Szechuan peppers is the best I have had in years read more

Although located in an obscure plaza, this restaurant should definitely not be overlooked. I dined here before COVID, and I gotta say, the food here is amazing. I usually don't give Szechuan food much attention because I grew up eating Cantonese, but this place didn't disappoint. I would say this restaurant serves pretty authentic dishes because most of the customers are Chinese. My friend and I ordered orange chicken, braised pork, and the chongqing diced chicken with chilies. The service was quite prompt, and our food arrived in a timely manner. Usually I don't order orange chicken, but the orange chicken is definitely worth trying here. The chicken was perfectly juicy and tender. The sauce on top had the perfect combination of sweet and savory along with a pleasant tangy aftertaste. The braised pork belly had a nice five spice aroma and a strong soy sauce flavor. The meat was very tender, soft and melted in your mouth. Out of the three, my favorite would have to be the chongqing diced chicken. The chicken bits were fried to perfection and had a nice crunch. It cost me $22 which is a bit much for lunch. The egg rolls were mushy inside, minimal fillings and greasy. My chicken in garlic sauce is floating in oil. I enjoy Asian food of all types but this is only so so. I doubt I would ever go back. My 3 stars is generous. read more

What a great addition to the sichuan scene in Plano. This place is located in the WEIRDEST strip mall but once you find it you're in for a treat. We came on Easter and food was so fast, fresh, with the kindest and most attentive service. They have a crispy fried lamb leg that I have not found on other restaurant menus and it was very, very delicious and extremely well-priced. The other usual dishes we ordered (crispy fried chicken pieces, tofu with fish, dan dan mian) were all fresh and flavorful without feeling overly heavy and oily. This is probably going to be our new spot since it's closer than our usual spot. They even have pumpkin cakes and fried rice sugar cakes for dessert too! Come try this place out! read more

They were all super sweet and attentive, even while they themselves were eating! Food was incredibly delicious! I highly recommend the cumin lamb skewers. First time trying this place. Had cumin lamb, cumin beef, and the string beans. Everything was on point and very flavorful. Glad I ordered the mild because even the mild had good heat. Meat was tender on both dishes and the veggies were fresh and crunchy. Everything went really well with rice. The service was good and the food came out quickly. I was told this was the hot new Chinese restaurant in DFW and nothing disappointed. Lest you think hot means only popular, many things on the Choingqing house menu have are rated with two or three Chinese red peppers and their logo is, as you may guess, a Chinese red pepper. We ordered a fish with peppers that came with a thin batter that was not in the least bit greasy, mapo tofu, green beans, sesame balls (which are so much better freshly cooked like this) and some sort of rice cakes with sugar and syrup. Vegetarians may have some issue. Both the mapo tofu and green beans had small pieces of meat. It's located in an non-descript plaza off 75 in Plano. You can't see the sign from the highway so pay close attention to your smartphone directions. I should also mention I was, as far as I could tell, the only non-Asian (probably non-Chinese) person in the restaurant. Our waitress spoke no English. Had dinner here yesterday and both my husband & I are still fighting an upset stomach since. He was up all night back and forth from the restroom and I was not much better off. We ordered the spicy shrimp and ribs. Once we ordered, our food arrived in less than 5 minutes. They should have spent more time cooking the shrimp more thoroughly bc it was still very raw. So I changed my review from 5 stars to 3 because of their take out. The food is still top notch (5). If you're going to dine in, it's a home run (5). But the take out is just criminal. Their take out portions are SIGNIFICANTLY smaller than the dine in. And they don't give you rice. If you're going to choose to not even give rice, you better not skimp on the portions, and they did. The honey walnut shrimp is usually made with the sauce mixed in not on the side. Shrimp tasted like fried oil. The orange chicken was chewy and dry. Hard to swallow. The spring rolls tasted like they had gone bad but still fried and served. If I was eating at this restaurant I would ask for my money back. Awesome Sichuanese food. They have a nice variety, the restaurant is very clean and modern, and the food is obnoxiously oily or spicy like many Sichuanese restaurants. I especially love the trip with green chili sauce. It's very fragrant, clean tasting and has a lot of ma (numbing) goodness.
