I'd rate this pretty high for Sichuanese food in DFW. It's such a rare thing to find and if you do, it's usually disappointing. However, Sichuanese Cuisine is a restaurant you can count on! The service is quick and the portions are pretty substantial. Great spot to go with friends or family to order a bunch of food and eat "family style." My friend and I had the spicy dumpling soup (which they call ravioli lol), Sichuan chicken (P2), Crispy chicken (P8), and the eggplant in garlic sauce. All executed well and hot. The restaurant was out of whole fish so the server recommended the Fish Filets with Pickled Peppers as it was an authentic Sichuan dish. As she was taking our order, the chef was yelling at her and she was screaming back. I felt right at home. Ordered Door Dash and had high expectations but very disappointed. The spicy ravioli soup is exactly like the spicy soup dumplings so go with the dumplings because it's the small soup version but it was so oily from the chili oil on both the soup and the dumplings I couldn't eat it but I took some of the oil soup and drizzled on the combo fried rice. Also, I'm going to make a ravioli spicy paste with beef Italian gravy so it doesn't go to waste because the ravioli was cold but it may be good in an Italian beef infused dish. Honestly, restaurants need to care more so they dint go out of business but they would rather blame and cut quality. The combo fried rice was average and edible but not great. No flavor, cheap ingredients especially the shrimp and beef but I never saw any chicken plus the rice was a cheap milly rice not a fluffy rice. The lobster shrimp sauce was the best thing but per usual it states a large but they filled it a little over HALF full to save those 2-3 serving sizes we pay for and the shrimps are NOT prawns they are those medium size frozen pink peeled shrimps. The peas are frozen and they were frost bit as they didn't have any snap to them nor bright green but a grey green. My final irritations are the spring rolls were absolute mush and inedible. Everything had a dirty dishwater taste especially the lobster sauce and egg roll. The packaging and bags are all plastic if this offends you. I feel the quality is overall very low and I'm confused why this has so many stars. I guess I ordered wrong. read more

We ate here on New Year's Eve and the place was about half-full. There were quite a few large parties of about 7 people. The servers were really fast to get us seated and take our order. Pretty good Szechuan styled dishes with differing levels and tastes of spiciness. Would recommend: Lamb with Cumin: Good cumin flavor, not too intense. It was one of the less spicier dishes that we ordered. Dried-cooked string bean: A typical dried-cooked string bean, nothing too special but pairs well with the rest of the spiciness dishes. Pork Bung & Pork blood cake: One of the better dishes in my opinion, the intestine had just the right amount of intestine-ness and was nice and chewy. The pork blood was cooked well and paired nicely together. Fu Qi Fei Pian (Beef tendon/Hot spicy beef couple): Nothing special again, but a good tasting beef tendon. Sichuanese Boiled Beef: Good tender beef and the spiciness isn't over-whelming Special boiling fish: The fish was nice and soft and delicate, very good flavor, tasted different (and better) than the boiled beef. Would lesser so recommend: Sautéd Sour Potato: Didn't really taste sour, but were a good neutralizer for all the spicy chili oil. Deep-cooked Pork Bung: Some pieces of intestines were as crispy as I would have liked, but would have liked no vegetables inside the dish. Chong-qin crispy spicy chicken: The spiciest we've ever had, and it was so overwhelming the chicken couldn't be tasted well. Family has been going here since I was a child. It's not my favorite Chinese restaurant but even though the flavors have changed with the chefs it's definitely nostalgic and still familiar. We ordered quite a bit. Green onion pancake - Delicious as always!! Always get this :) Dumplings - These are tasty, I didn't taste but my sister likes them enough that she always gets them. Mapo tofu (veg) - uh oh, they forgot the green onions! Despite that, the tofu was very mild and savory. I always wondered how they get it to be so savory. The restaurant was empty except for one customer who had placed an order for takeout. I'm surprised that the Mongolian Beef wasn't cooked to the description and in comparison to previous customers pictures. I don't see any green onion, lots of peppers but no green onion. No white rice with the dish?!? You are paying a la carte for every thing needed to complete a dish. I have been here three times and the food is consistently good. The service is terrible. It takes a very long time before they come to your table and one time there was no one to even seat me so I just sat down and waited for 5 or 10 minutes for someone to appear. So I will preface by saying I am reviewing based on my takeout order from a delivery service. I had the tea smoked duck and crispy intestines. Even eating it after a delivery, it was still amazing! The duck was super tender, I don't think I've had duck cooked that well in a while and it had a good smoked flavor. The intestines were nice and crispy (and spicy!) I love my Chinese food, and while I almost gave up here in central downtown Dallas of finding a good authentic Chinese restaurant apparently they are all located North!!! So they have 2 locations, I have eaten at both, and they are slightly different t but still great!!! They have complamentry hot and sour and eggdrop soup.  We ordered the chilli green beans, just really fresh green beans deep fried with a red chili light sauce amazing taste.  We ordered their dumplings in chili sauce jeez that was it for me, it was so tasty and full of flavor a bit salty but ok with the steamed rice! We also ordered a chicken loemane and it was very fresh!  Their beef with onions was amazing strips of tender beef with loads of fried onions! They had a huge menu so will have to come in for more!!! This place is below average, the good is loaded with sugar more than your typical Chinese recipes. Also a lot of fat is added to the fried rice to as flavor. Portions are good and they have the egg drop soup and the hot and sour soup for self-serve. They also offer some lettuce and a couple of other dishes for self-serve. Food prices are good $20 for two people for lunch not bad. But with this comes the poor quality. Most servers barely speak English and the place is not clean. The tables, floors and the self-serve area were pretty dirty, not sure what the rating from the Health Department is but if I was an inspector I would rate it C. We had steamed dumplings, Mongolian beef, and orange chicken. Everything was fresh and very good. Chicken was tender and not overly breaded. Husband said his beef was excellent. Serving sizes were more than ample. We took home enough food for another meal each. With that in mind the $12-14 per dish is reasonable considering we can have a second full meal from what we took home. Service was good. The restaurant was clean and comfortable. Really nothing good to say. The fried rice felt like old steamed rice, the chicken had the texture of old nuggets and the beef was swimming in grease. The chili sauce tofu was soft tofu and greasy and the pickled vegetables was only cabbage. The only fair thing was the seaweed soup. So many great and good Chinese places in Richardson/Plano. Their food is the freshest and the best tasting. We always order a combination of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Pork + Tofu, Spicy Chicken Cubes, Hot Spicy Boiled Fish, Spicy Cabbage, Mala Pea Jelly, and have tried a lot of their menu. Eyebrows raised on the authenticity, however we gave it a try because it was a recommendation and we were ushered to sit down by the waiters. Ordered all the typical Sichuan dishes - fish in chili oil, dan dan noodles, chongqing chicken, and many others. THIS PLACE LACKS FLAVOR. Nothing was spicy enough. The dan dan noodles tasted straight up like plain noodles?? It came in this huge bowl of red soup, but it had no flavor. Bill was like $90, but don't think any of us enjoyed our meal. I tend to judge most authentic Chinese restaurants by their braised eggplant dish, and Sichuanese definitely delivers. This place has been a go-to restaurant for my family and I for years, and aside from the eggplant, which is always piping hot, cooked to perfection, and wonderfully flavorful, we've also enjoyed the shrimp fried rice, boiled fish, mapo tofu, and sauteed potatoes. Everything is very affordable and easily shared, just the way I like my Szechuan cuisine. If you're on your own, a lot of this food reheats very well, so don't worry about over ordering! Most of the reviews posted for the restaurants in this strip mall at Park and Coit are written by what I would call in a nice way "Far East Foodies." Lots of references to authentic preparation and ingredients. This center has about six of these restaurants in a row, each with a unique Far East cuisine. This review is written by a North Texas guy who is most familiar with Pei Wei. More on the Foodies later. Entering the restaurant there is a chalk board with the specials..written in Chinese. Right there I knew I was not in Pei Wei. It gets really good from there. For lunch they offer about 50 specials, all for $7.99 each including a soup and salad bar. I plan to play it safe with Kung Pau Chicken. The meal was just outstanding and different from what I guess is Americanized food. The chicken is in a wonderful brown sauce with peanuts, peppers (look out for them) and cabbage. The fried rice is not the dry stuff that is served everywhere. This is in a flavorful moist sauce. This is really a treat. What about the dinner menu? Probably over one hundred offerings. I didn't really review it but it is impressive. The service was very friendly and prompt. This restaurant does not look like much from the outside and is pretty basic inside. It is located next to the Dunkin Donuts on Coit that has been there forever. So, back to the Foodies. At lunch, more than half of the customers really know what they are doing. They are ordering multiple items from the dinner menu and sharing. Doesn't take long for them to order. They seem to know what they want. Everyone seems to have one clay pot on their table to share whatever is in it, among other items. When they leave, they take huge portions of leftovers with them. First things first. They were SUPER DUPER service dog friendly. Let's face it.. you kind of have to be...but not everyone is courteous or kind about the fact that they have to accommodate them. So HUGE kudos on that. So, we ordered Dan Dan noodles, Kinights Beef, and Chon-qin crispy spicy chicken. The first thing that arrived were the Dan Dan noodles. Followed quickly by everything else. The noodles were quite fragrant and we caught a whiff of peanuts. I'd served us both some noodles....when we decided to double check and see if it did have peanuts in it. My friend has a peanut allergy. She won't die...but an inhaler will need to be employed and her stomach will basically flip her off and tell her where she can go. They confirmed that it did have peanuts and so we asked for a new plate and fork and proceeded. The beef dish was oily AF. I spent (no exaggeration) the first 5 minutes, spooning and skimming oil off of the top of it and that still didn't get enough off. Most of the meat we were served was just the fatty bits with a few chunks of solid meat in there. While there were Sichuan pepper corns in there, the dish just wasn't incredibly flavorful or amazing. Same with the Dan Dan noodles. Super oily and SUPER basic. You aren't getting a starring dish with them. Which I'm a HUGE fan of Dan Dan, so that was quite disappointing. Now the Chon-qin crispy spicy chicken....was awesome. Super damn oily lol. I feel like if I'd gotten that and a veggie dish....it would have been ok. But oil ontop of oil ontop of oil was just.. a lot of, you know...oil. This dish, however was really solid. And the bucket...yes bucket of rice they brought out is something I'm sure many ppl would appreciate. So, overall....I maaaaaay go back to attempt to try other dishes to see if everything isn't coated in oil...but, it's a slim chance. And our server was super sweet and lovely :) read more
