I came to Choolaah today and had a lamb wrap, samosas, and Mint Ginger Lemonade. Each item tasted amazing! One thing that annoyed me was how the wrap sort of fell apart as I was eating it because the bread got soggy, but it was good so I can deal with it lol. Burnt Bread! Do you like your bread black as pavement? Come here. When you bring it to them to kindly ask for a new bread for your wrap, they give you the stink eye and tell you to go sit, they will bring it...with that look, it makes you wonder if they are putting spit in it. read more

We ordered catering after speaking with the manager Robert S. The order was ready on time and the food was fantastic and perfectly prepared and packaged. There was one minor part of the order that was left out but I quickly received a phone call and text from Robert who apologized and personally delivered the item to our home. Wonderful find! Amazing food, fantastic service, very clean and comfortable environment! The cashier was extremely friendly and patiently walked me through the menu since it was my first time. He even let me sample all the sides because I wasn't sure which one to pick! I chose the Black Lentil Daal (must-try!) along with the Tikka Masala with Tofu and Veggies, naan and Pav Bhaji. Everything was so so flavorful, fresh and delicious, not too oily or spicy. I'm obsessed with their tofu- it's incredibly firm and reminds me so much of paneer! The Mint Ginger Lemonade was super refreshing and the chutneys were a nice addition to the meal. Definitely try out the wash station; very unique and effortless way to wash your hands. read more

Have eaten here twice and will definitely come again, but there is one issue: The quality of dishes seems inconsistent. The first time I had the full meal with rice, chicken, na'an, and da'al, and everything was fantastic. The second time I had just rice with da'al and na'an and the da'al was definitely less flavorful, more watery. I love the idea of this place and the simplicity of the dishes and the menu, but I do hope that the quality will remain high (and consistent) in the long term. We'll see... read more

I am up to three visits so it is time for a review. This place is a good idea well implemented. The food is fresh, flavorful, so far consistently well prepared. The sauces are good, but beware of the heat in the description. Hot means HOT! Portions are generous. Other things I like, service cleanliness, no TV, and genuine eclectic cuisine and clientele. We went here with a group yesterday. Between our group, we had simosas, chicken biryani, chicken tikka masala, veggie croquets and grilled vegetables. I had the croquets with veggie masala. It was very good but I was definitely jealous of the chicken biryani. My friend that had that said it very good and the grilled vegetables looked awesome. I will definitely be adding those on next time. I also love the naan there. I like naan anywhere but their naan is a little different. It's almost like an everything bagel naan. I would probably go just for that. I'm looking forward to going back and trying some things that I can't get at a typical Indian restaurant like the tandoori wrap or the salad. Unrelated to the food but important nonetheless, the service here is wonderful. The wait staff is very friendly and even comped me a biryani because they had a delay and took too long to bring it out I didn't complain or even request any compensation, they did it on their own! This is more like white version of Indian food. I don't think they even have or use proper masala to do the bbq. I had chicken tikka masala and the sauce was very much like water. Not thick like real tikka masala. No spice nothing. This is a huge disrespect to our south Asian food. The service was very good and decoration. Store was clean and neat. Choolah consistently provides delicious food in a fantastic atmosphere. I'm in love! We live walking distance from this restaurant and it is a bit like a moth to a flame. The crescent is filled with lovely views, lively conversations, and often with children playing. But the food is what brings me back. It is all cooked in tandoor ovens and is a sight to see. I tried this place on the recommendation from a friend, and overall it wasn't a bad place for a quick lunch. Choolaah had a very clean interior, and the decor was pretty. The menu setup was a little confusing (luckily I had referenced the one online first), as the different parts of a bowl are each priced separately (and you calculate the total price of your meal by the individual components, e.g. protein + base + side). I went with a chicken wrap and mango lemonade because it was a cheap & simple option; my friend got a more complex meal. I got a small lemonade which wasn't listed on the menu. I thought my wrap was pretty sizable (the naan pieces at Choolaah are huge), but I thought my friend's meal was a little small for the price. The wrap was also pretty simple -- naan with chicken, onions, and sauce, I think -- which some people may like, but I think I tend to like more ingredients. I also tasted a bite of my friend's samosa chaat and that was pretty good. I wouldn't have minded getting one of those for myself :) Overall, Choolaah wasn't a bad place for a quick lunch in the area, but I think I would prefer to eat at one of the other restaurants in the shopping center next time I go. read more

Awesomely fresh food! Their selection of chutneys on the side is pretty good too! The mango one is really good. Tried the paneer tikka and it was the most moist and succulent paneer that I have had in a really long time. The best part is that they maintain the quality and don't compromise on that.
