The first time i ordered the home style chicken it had fresh garlic, the second time I ordered there was no garlic at all. We also ordered garlic broccoli and it was very very vinegary and inedible. So we had to throw it out. The chicken fried rice was also very dry. I ordered takeout from this restaurant at approximately 6:15 pm. At 9 pm I called, having not heard anything from them about my order. The woman at the restaurant was rude and told me she would now send my food over. I told her to forget about it and that i'd like my money back. Her reply was, "if you want that, you shouldn't have ordered from Grubhub or Seamless. Order directly from us!" She wouldn't refund my money. I called Grubhub and they took care of it, but point of the story: do not order takeout from here! Have no idea if the food is even good, but service is HORRIBLE. read more

Called at 5pm to have food delivered at 6pm. Called at 6:30pm -- told it is on its way. Call again at 6:45pm. First they don't pick up a few times, then told that it is still on its way because have three orders out for delivery. Call at 7pm. No apologies, super rude manager told me "What, I have a thousand years? What do you expect me to do?" When I tell him to refund the order because had to feed my daughter a whole other dinner, he tells me that there is nothing he can do. AWEFUL! When food finally arrived I refused to accept it or sign for it because my family had to eat a whole other dinner while we waited for this over-priced food and deal with this aggravation. They are the best! I always call to order for pickup but because I am sick and have no voice I ordered online. I had ordered online accidentally for Sunday instead of today. I went into the restaurant to pick up my order today and first he pushed the order through so I could have it today he also felt bad hearing that I had no voice and gave me a water while I was waiting and then when he gave me my food to bring home he gave a ginger soda and said this should help me get better. We love this place and go every time we are in the neighborhood. Family friendly. Our favorites include the sweet and sour chicken nuggets with the sauce on the side, cucumber rolls and ginger-ale. Easy and delicious. Can't wait to get back to Chop Chop. read more

SURLY MANAGEMENT, ATROCIOUS FOOD! We made the mistake of having a family get-together here. Management (the short fat guy with the kipah) was intolerably rude & refused to apologize even when it was pointed out to him that several in the party were old & infirm & could not easily comply with his order to move when we wanted to sit together. (Apparently the concept of the customer always being right was not one he was familiar with.) The beef we ordered was rubbery, stale, & foul-smelling. After a promising start, this place is going downhill fast. Clearly, the management of Chop Chop no longer care about providing courteous service or fresh, quality meat. The food here is great and the pricing is reasonable. I particularly like the sesame chicken and the cashew chicken. The beef egg rolls are also great. Expect an entree to run about $12 with tax. Washington Heights is home to a diverse community, and the YU and Breuer's Orthodox Jewish communities thankfully have some kosher dining options, mostly under the supervision of the Vaad of Riverdale (VHR). I was coming from the Bronx and wanted to grab some real food, so I took the bus to Amsterdam and 181 and stopped at the first kosher place I came across. They had a decent amount of tables for dining in, although they have some junk lingering around the place. First, I was put off by the fact that they had juices and beverages with unacceptable hashgachot (Minute Maid juice with Triangle K and Mash juice with Shield K). The mashgiach was wearing a video games t-shirt, no visible tzitzis, and a tiny little kippa seruga, not instilling much confidence, and the fact that he didn't seem to care that the place had juices with unaccepted hashgachot didn't bother him at all. His very curt, prust (that's Yiddish for vulgar/unrefined for all of you non-members of the tribe reading this), and downright rude and nasty, unspecific answer was "check the website," neglecting to mention what website for which kosher agency he was referring to. I ordered a small beef and broccoli with fried rice, and an order of steamed beef dumplings. The beef and broccoli had an extremely bitter taste to it. The broccoli was very hard, the beef tasted old and gnarly, the sauce was like brown water from a septic tank. No corn starch, no taste of garlic or ginger, nothing. No pleasant taste or flavor whatsoever, and the small was indeed really small. The beef was in tiny shreds that were barely visible, and hardly edible. Maybe a grand total of 2 ounces of meat in the entire order. The fried rice was a dollar extra, and was just fried rice and egg, no onion, peas, vegetables, nothing. I had the most unfortunate experience of finding at least 5-6 HUGE chunks of egg shells in my dish! I almost had a heart attack when I bit into them, and 4 hours later, my teeth are still hurting. The steamed dumplings were much better, although there was a puddle of water on the bottom of the Styrofoam container they came in. They didn't even bother draining them. The dipping sauce was very good, to their credit. However, when I showed the manager the shells he initially wanted to placate me by offering me a free soda! What nerve, chutzpah, and unmitigated gall! I told him I refuse to pay for the beef and broccoli and thankfully, they gave me an $11 refund to my card. This at least saved me the trouble of contacting my bank and stopping the payment. I don't think I'll be returning anytime soon. Next time, I'll have pizza when I'm "In the Heights" (on that point, maybe Lin Manuel Miranda should take all of the millions he's making from those $10K Hamilton tickets and open a Dominican kosher place in homage to his first big musical. I think it would be a big hit.) read more
