I honestly don't know where to start. First, this restaurant is absolutely amazing. Every time I go in the customer service is always on point with everything and especially the food! I've tried everything on the menu and each dish and sides have their own unique flavors to them. Thinking about the eggplant mix gets me drooling. The staff are down to earth and really care about each individual customers experience while at the restaurant. I highly recommend stopping by and giving them a try. It's hard to find good middle eastern food in Massachusetts, let alone a restaurant that serves authentic Persian food. Growing up outside of Detroit, there's a place like this on every corner. I grew up on this food and have missed it dearly. Husband and I both had the chicken gyro plate and with Persian tea and I ordered an extra side of rice and hummus for our toddler. Chicken was so tender and perfectly spiced and the hummus was the best I've had in a long time. Staff was very friendly, which was extra appreciated because our toddler was louder and messier than usual. We got a take-out order of ground chicken kobideh ($9.85), steak tips kebab ($12.85), chicken tenderloin kebabs ($9.85) and side order of falafel ($5.50). The meat was not seasoned well at all. All three entrees were mostly rice (95%)with a 1 skewer of meat (2 skewers in the chicken kobideh), one whole roasted tomato and grilled onion quarter. Even the rice was plain. We paid $50 total. I think they included the tip (around $9) which I don't think should have been done by them ....that should be left up to the customer. All in all, the food was bland and not worth the money. My husband and I went here because a nearby restaurant was very busy. I'm so glad we did. The food was fresh and flavorful and perfectly done. I had the falafel plate and my husband had the ground beef kabob plate. We shared and we enjoyed both entrees. Not only was the food great, we got a free history lesson when I asked about the herbs used in the food. Par, who was at the counter, was very passionate and knowledgeable not only about Persian food but the history behind it. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and Par's lesson. The food is absolutely mouth watering, there is a shocking amount of variety, the quality of the meats are out of this world, the family that own the restaurant are super friendly and treat you right at home, and the prices can't be beat! Decent food, nice flavors, friendly face behind the counter, slight language barrier but nothing that can't be overcome. Value leaves a lot to be desired as I will explain below. The hummus is fantastic, some of the best I've eaten. Texture hits that sweet spot right between smooth and chunky and the pita bread was really fresh. 8oz of hummus and a full round of pita for $4. Ordered the chicken kabob skewer, received and charged for chicken kabob plate, an upgrade that almost doubles the prices but only includes white rice with a few (and I stress the word few) onions and peppers. For that you jump from $6.50 to $12. Garlic & Rosemary fries were made fresh, very tasty and priced appropriately at $3.50. I also ordered one of their higher priced dishes, the Fesenjon plate, which is a chicken walnut stew made with pomegranate juice. Incredibly delicious, wonderful flavors, and who knew walnuts and pomegranate went so well together. My only issue with this dish is that it only came with three (3) cubes of chicken. Ordered 2 plates of beef koobeidah (sp?) and 1 plate lamb kebab and got chicken for the beef. Was not happy they messed up order. Kabob were otherwise tasty (even tho it wasn't what we wanted) but it was just served with plain rice. Wish they had some sort of sauce to make it all go together. I often grab lunch from here on Fridays as a special treat. Although it's a bit of a hole-in-the-wall, the food is delicious and usually generous enough to make your lunch into two meals. The only negative is that I highly recommend calling ahead to order. Since most meals are cooked to order, you may be waiting awhile to get your food. They claim they are a Persian cuisine restaurant. Ordered Chicken wrap for ~ $9. The wrap was not made well, and had thick chicken cubes drenched in mayo. Had a bit of tomato, lettuce. The wrap almost immediately started to fall out under and unwrapped itself. So had to eat it with fork. I cant understand why the mayo .. since there are so many wonderful flavors in the "Persian " cuisine. Seemed like they wanted to not put in the work. There is a lot of Persian influence in indian food, so i understnd what i should look / taste like if made well. Probably wont go again. I bought a groupon for Chop Kabob. I think I paid $12 for $20 of food. When I went there to use it the guy behind the counter said they longer accept groupon or any other coupon. He pointed to a sign taped to the counter. He wouldn't accept it for $20 as he had agreed to when he offered it on groupon. And he wouldn't accept it for the $12 I paid. On top of that he said they wouldn't accept any published coupons, even if they're within the valid date printed on them. Is this even legal? Can a business lure you in with coupons and then not honor them? Go where you want to eat folks, but these guys have shady business practices. read more

Never again. Feel ripped off. . Overpriced, low quality meats, rice tasted like bleached white flour, dry, no taste, like straw. . Here's how we got suckered. Not finding a neat place on a Friday at 7pm, we took a chance on this 4-star Yelp rating with 56 reviews. As we approached, this 4 star had only one 2 other customerrs on a Friday at 7pm? That should have been a sign. . The menus were difficult to decipher. Wife ordered lamb kabob plate for $11, and I ordered a lamb gyro. In NYC and Montreal, that means roasted lamb, hand sliced from a spit, and tightly rolled, like a souvlaki. I asked the waitress, she said, oh, you want the wrap. What comes with it? Nothing. What about the plate? Yes, that comes with vegetables and white and saffron rice for $10. Ok, so give me the lamv gyro plate, that means wrapped, right? Yes. Ok. . The decor was as cheesy as it can get. Taking 2/3 of the floor space were oversized grills and a walled off back area with a really cheap cashput counter. Quite large for the merchant area. Overhead were cheap flouerscent lights. The tables were the cheapest we've seen. The chairs were equally low end. It felt like a pizzeria where no one looks at anything as they rush in and out. . The cleanliness seemed an afterthought. We and the next patron to come in had to clean our tables of minor debris. . Then the "4 star" meals came. On paper plates. . My wife's lamb kabob plate: Picture starchy cheap long grained white rice mixed with so-called saffron rice that looked more like rice colored yellow taking up 2/3 of the plate with a medium sized mound of cubed lamb. . Though the chunks were cooked OK, they were NOT kebobs and they were laced with stringy fat making them displeasant to eat. . My lamb gyro plate: Picture all the same as wife's. Perhaps the lamb was cubed a bit smaller. But no gyro. Called a person over. I asked where the gyro was. Said that is a gyro. I said that's cubed lamb sitting on a plate. He said that's our gyro and I should have ordered their wrap. I said I did order the wrap on a plate with the extras, like my wife's. He offered to bring over some pita. I said for what? You want me to wrap this into a souvlaki style wrap myself after ordering the wrap. They didn't get it. . They offered the pita again. I said I would like the wrap I ordered. Ok, but there's no sides. Ok, I gave up fighting and ordered a side of fries. About 5 minutes later two massive wraps showed up, complete with the same hard to chew stringy lamb. And no fries. The wraps were to large, they couldn't stay together. . Being really hungry I managed to eat one but after 20 minutes still no fries. We got up to pay and leave. One guy said, oh, the fries were for you? There were only 2 other customers. I got a doggy bag. The cashier threw in a small pastry and apologized for any confusion. . Anxious to get home, we swiped and reviewed the bill at the door. $32! We went back in and said we ordered 2 $11 plates. They said they were really 14 and the chalk menu writer drew the 4 like a 1 and also grouped items tightly together making it even more confusing. At home we tried the fries. There were cooked well, tasted hood at first but, shortly after the 1st one, we found them *very* greasy and doused with rosemary and tons of garlic. The garlic was overwhelming. Overall, this place ranks as one of the worst places we have ever eaten in - and we've had a lot of experience with a wide range, style, and cost level of eateries. Stay away. read more

Went here today for lunch. I ordered the chicken kabob plate. I waited 20 minutes for my lunch. There was no one else there. Lunch cost me $16. The chicken was good. Everything else that came with it was horrible. The rice was bland and the two small vegetables were cold. My wife has been suggesting we try Chop Kabob for awhile, but I kept finding reasons not to drive out to Westborough from Framingham. Let the record show that I now deeply regret not accepting the sound uxorial advice I received on this matter (this is more generally true, but not really germane to the subject at hand). The point is: I could have had their delicious kabobs and that tasty Fesenjan sooner, if only I'd listened to my wife. Sigh. Anyway let me get on with Chop Kabob. Everything we had was delicious and having four boys with us, we tried quite a bit of the menu. The ground beef and lamb kabobs were very Persian and terrific. The yogurt sauce and hummus were both excellent. We had a little of the tasty crispy saffron rice, and did I mention that the Fesenjan was very tasty? Although it was called something else on the menu, maybe just chicken stew, it was very tasty. If you haven't had the pleasure, Fesenjan is a Persian chicken stew made with pomegranate and ground walnuts. It is delicious in a way that seems to me to be very characteristic of Persian food, which doesn't overwhelm you with peppers or spices but combines subtle flavors in a delicious, understated way. Apologies to the more knowledgeable about Persian food if I'm off base in this observation. I don't profess any expertise, but I have some Persian friends and relations who have been good enough to feed me repeatedly, leading to a longstanding love of Fesenjan and Ghormeh sabzi, another fabulous stew featuring dried limes, fenugreek, and lamb that is also on the menu at Chop Kabob, perhaps under the moniker green stew. I haven't had it yet at Chop Kabob, but after this visit I'm dying to try it. Let me just mention one thing commented on by another reviewer: the amount of rice. In my experience, Persians tend to eat a lot of rice with just a little stew or meat, so the proportions can seem off to Americans used to proportions favoring the sauce or meat as found at many Chinese or Indian restaurants in the U.S. Lastly, to the owners of Chop Kabob who have struggled so much to get to the U.S. and open their restaurant, thanks so much for all your hard work and delicious food. My family really enjoyed it and will be back. To everyone else, get to Chop Kabob and try some great Persian food. It is a great casual addition to the metrowest restaurant offerings. read more

Once I ordered I realized I did not have my credit card ( they don't take American Express). He told me " no problem" call us with the card once you get home. Such a nice trusting thing to do. The interior isn't much to look at, but this seems like more of a lunch place so I don't see any reason to complain about that. Prices are fine for Westborough, you can eat a meal here for less than $10. The falafel is solid, if unremarkable. I really liked their mixed vegetable spread with pita which works as an appetizer or lunch for one. The garlic and rosemary fries were a miss, basically just frozen crinkle cuts with some rosemary dumped on top and nothing to hold them together. New Iranian place that opened in Westborough. It's not your typical Iranian restaurant like you'll find in Boston in terms of the interior seating and decor, but the food is not too far off from places like Shiraz, Khayam, and Jasmine. Especially for the price ($10 for two skewers and rice!), it's a great spot for pick-up. Again, not really a sit-down location, but food is still above average. As of now their menu is fairly small since they're still very new, so I recommend either the chicken or beef kebob platters. Not 5 stars because I do find the food a little dry for my personal liking and in in comparison to most Iranian places I've eaten at. It's definitely worth a try, and I will be back. read more

We have been here twice now. Both times my husband ordered the ground beef kabob platter and he loved it both times. I tried it and thought it was ok the first time and outstanding the 2nd time. The meat was seasoned and grilled to perfection. I ordered chicken kabobs and falafel wraps and really enjoyed them. They gave a lot of falafel in the wrap and it was delicious. This place is amazing for kabobs. I ordered chicken kabobs with pita and hummus as a side it's so delicious. The chicken is so soft and well cooked. The guy at register also offered us a complimentary special chai(tea), which is great. I never had that type before. This is overpriced food truck food. I got a lamb gyro for $10. No tahini on the side, no salad. It wasn't good. The lamb is supposed to be thinly sliced (it says so in their menu), but what I got was cubed lamb that tasted like it's been in the refrigerator. For these prices it should be much fresher.
