Food when I say I will go to Manhattan again for this dish. I will buy 2 next time. My order was $ 10.00 in cash or you can do card for $11.00 I ordered the chop steak spicy ( which isn't really that spicy) it was delicious. The lady at the window was great very friendly , they will also accommodate you a little my friend doesnt like broccoli so they did leave that out for him. I only got a picture of my food before inhaling it. My friends food let's just say they were good. Chop steak is on a bread of white rice with steak on top with a couple steamed vegetables and a couple fries mine was topped with a spicy mayo sauce or they have regular mayo sauce which is what my friend had. This is a food truck so they dont have seating, however there is a fountain nearby that you can sit at however this was our last stop for the day so we ate on the way to the train I dont recommend it is hard to hold and shovel in but I couldn't wait to eat it till we got home. Chop steak truck keep up the great work

Good meal for the price. Service is friendly and efficient. It's right by a public plaza so in better weather you could probably sit down and eat. I usually get the chop steak without sauce. Steak is cooked to temperature and flavors are fine but if you skip the sauce you might want just a hint more salt and pepper. You get white rice, and small portions of steamed carrots and broccoli and a handful of fries. All in, it feels relatively healthy and satisfying and would be a more regular meal if it wasn't for the larger portion of red meat. When you're in the mood for it though, it definitely hits the spot. A worthy addition to a midtown lunch rotation.

I've heard about this place from my colleagues and was told there is always a long line. I tried it for the first time earlier this week to see for myself. I went around 1pm and yes, there was already a line of people waiting for their food to come out. All in all, it was about a 15 min ish wait for me. Now supposedly it is made on the spot hence the wait. I got the sesame steak with spicy mayo. The pros are the meat is beautifully seasoned and while I found the inclusion of fries to be a bit weird for a Thai inspired food truck, it wasn't bad especially with the spicy mayo sauce. This sauce definitely has a spicy kick to it in a very very good way. My only complaint is that the meat is a bit tough and wish it was cooked more tender for sure. But you know what, for $10, I would most certainly go back and at least try other selections. After having gone back for a few more times and tried their basil steak and separately their $12 classic steak (asked and cooked to perfection of medium rare), I am a big believer with their food and give it 4 stars. Be prepared for a long wait.

Meh... if you're going to get steak from a cart, Steak Freak on 50th is much better. I got steak basil and the meat was tough. The "spicy" sauce is more sweet than spicy. Decent portion for the size, quick service which makes me question how fresh everything is. Probably won't come back.

I saw Chop Steak Truck when whoring around Midtown, and the name and pictures made it sound simply divine. Any time I can eat for under $15 in NY, I certainly go for it. Hmm, maybe that's why I gained so much weight during my short trip there. Chop Steak Truck serves your standard Asian steak stir fry with a twist - fries. Yum fries. Steak and fries are of course a classic combination, and Chop Steak Truck certainly served what they promised. I had a perfectly serviceable, cheaper meal at Chop Steak Truck and would certainly consider it again.

Chop Steak Truck is one of the handful of tasty but pretty filling food trucks serving $10 lunch options in the Midtown area during the week. I've had both their classic Chop Steak bowl and Basil Steak bowl a few times and they hit the spot whenever I'm in the mood for a low frills steak bowl at an affordable price. Bowls come with steak on rice with a handful of fries and a few pieces of broccoli and carrot slices as well. Aside from the addition of onion/bell pepper/basil, I can't really tell too much of a difference but doesn't really matter IMO because they are both tasty.

Curry steak. Curry sauce comes on the side but I poured some of it onto the steak.

After reading other reviews, I had high hopes but was a bit disappointed. I expected the steak to be a regular steak cooked to order which is them sliced and put into your order. Instead it was basically shredded beef which is cooked well done. The vegetables which I believe are supposed to be steamed seemed raw to me. It was just 2 pieces of broccoli and a slice or two of carrots. The French fries were good and the accompanying side of curry sauce was actually quite good and had lots of flavor. Not the best or worst experience in my opinion so I may try another dish in the future but I'm not in a rush to do so.

Wanted to try this spot since I've walked by several times and today I finally did. Not sure if it's too cold outside or what, but there was no line here. I ordered the Basil Steak which comes out pretty quickly, while my colleague ordered the classic steak. The classic steak took WAYYYYYY longer btw. All the orders come with a small handful of fries, a lot of rice, 2 pieces of blanched broccoli and 3 pieces of carrot. The basil steak was pretty tasty and relatively tender. The spicy mayo is definitely needed though since there's SO much rice. I do love my rice but I try to steer clear of too much carbs, but without the rice this would not have been even close to filling. The portion size was decent but I was still slightly hungry after, but still had food coma. So the food was sort of filling and quite heavy. My colleague got a side of curry with his order, which they charge $2 for. The curry tasted like Malay curry.

Basil Steak, $10 as of 4/28/21 -- delicious and hit the spot!

I passed this truck the other day running errands in Midtown, and fondly recalled when I used to see a long line of people eagerly awaiting their food from this place. I couldn't remember if it had good reviews or not, so I quickly Yelped the truck before walking up. 4 of 5 overall - pretty solid - so I placed an order for the Basil Steak ($10). From what I can tell, the Basil Steak is different from the Classic because it includes additional veggies (peppers, onions). They asked if I wanted white sauce or spicy sauce, and I asked for a little bit of each. First bite was heaven. Really well seasoned food - not too salty, which I hate - and just enough fries. The whole thing was served over a happy little bed of white rice. I agree with the other reviews that the veggies (broccoli, carrots) are a bit more on the crunchy side, but honestly, that's what I prefer. Don't love my veggies all soggy. Note the name of the truck - it's "Chop Steak" - so you're not getting a "regular steak" (would you, for $10??) -- it's chopped beef. It's quite good exactly the way it is, and for $10, made my belly very happy. Thanks for the positive first experience! Hope you guys are successful through this pandemic and beyond.

    Combo over rice

Despite the fact you have a plethora of Halal carts, Jiannetto's Pizza Truck, and La Cense Burger Truck (not so much recently) surrounding it, the Steak Truck offers the best diversity for a food truck, ranging from the chicken/lamb combo over rice and cheesesteaks to burgers and fries. The cart is never too crowded during lunch hours, and $6 is guaranteed to give you full stomach in an area overwhelmed by high-priced, midtown lunch spots. The chicken/lamb combo over rice is fresh and appetizing, and the rice is not stuck together in lumps that you get from some Halal carts out there. Adding a piece of pita bread and few chickpeas in there was a nice touch too. The burger is served with a reasonable-sized beef patty that is juicy and tender. The fries were crunchy, and not soggy like McD's. The wait time was no more than 3 - 5 minutes, and the truck sits right across the street from my office building on the NE corner of 47th & Park For the convenience and a price of $6, what more can you can ask for?

    Basil Steak for only $9!

This truck is a gem found in the heart of the city. The quality and quantity of food for less than 10 dollars is unbelievable. They have a great selection that tastes great and fills your belly. Great value. High quality. Must go early as the lines build quick after 12 and they do run out of steak.

At this point I have to accept that it's probably not for me. So why do I keep coming back? Because at 2 AM after a late night, when everything else is closed and you're starving in Times Square, that platter of chicken and rice over white sauce smells like salvation. They're the only game in town at that hour, and honestly, in the moment, it hits. It's the next morning I regret it. If your stomach handles it better than mine, you'll probably love it. I feel like this place is good, but the white sauce is what makes it. Would I wait another 50 minutes in line, again? Heck to the no - but 1 time? Yes, just to say I tried it. I came in line around 9:45pm and waited approx. 50 minutes before being served. the line just grows and grows.... it is crazy busy! I don't get the line concept here. Because while I was in a long line, when I get to the front, there's another line to the left of the truck... and people seem to be getting their food faster, and the line is like 2x shorter. So that's kind of confusing. Ambience in line and ordering = chaotic. The line is quick in terms of when it is your turn, KNOW what you want. Because you have like 5 seconds to order and that's it. I ordered the special (the spicy rice, lamb and chicken combo, extra white sauce, 3 squirts of hot sauce, and a topped with fries). $13 in total. I would like to say, advice to folks to know what you want before you come. I did not look at menu options beforehand and I did fairly little research so I honestly did not know what to order, just looked at some google reviews and pictures. That is going to help you, in case you do not want the typical lamb and chicken combo. To the food - 1st - they don't care how much hot sauce you want. they're making these bowls in the masses and are just giving you a single squirt so they can make 20 bowls all at the same time. I was hoping for more spice in what I ordered, but it was very slightly spicy. I'm not sure if they let you serve yourself to more, but I'd definitely want more of the hot sauce. 2nd - I didn't taste any spice in the spicy rice. I'm not sure if, again, due to the fast production that it all just taste like regular rice? but didn't see what the hype was there. 3rd - I genuinely think the white sauce is what brings it all together. The chicken was OK to me. I didn't think it was anything special, and would give it a 3 out of 5. texture was OK, flavor was OK... the lamb definitely stole the show. The lamb was absolutely flavorful and full of delicious spices. This reminded me of what I've had in Dubai. Very rich in flavor and just the perfect amount of spices. Overall, I think if you wait for your food to cool down like 20 minutes, you'll get to taste the flavors more. Everything hot together, for me, just didn't allow me to really absorb all the food. But the rice was your average rice. Pita was deliciously soft and pillowy which complemented the white sauce. Chicken was ok. had an OK texture; nothing life changing. lamb was fantastic, and fries were just fries (nothing memorable). For a NYC experience, a 1-time, 50 minute wait is acceptable. And, for $13, that's pretty cheap for the amount of food you get. I would eat it again if the line was 5 minutes. Otherwise, I'm positive you will find similar food/better food elsewhere.
