Good meal for the price. Service is friendly and efficient. It's right by a public plaza so in better weather you could probably sit down and eat. I usually get the chop steak without sauce. Steak is cooked to temperature and flavors are fine but if you skip the sauce you might want just a hint more salt and pepper. I've heard about this place from my colleagues and was told there is always a long line. I tried it for the first time earlier this week to see for myself. I went around 1pm and yes, there was already a line of people waiting for their food to come out. All in all, it was about a 15 min ish wait for me. Now supposedly it is made on the spot hence the wait. I got the sesame steak with spicy mayo. The pros are the meat is beautifully seasoned and while I found the inclusion of fries to be a bit weird for a Thai inspired food truck, it wasn't bad especially with the spicy mayo sauce. This sauce definitely has a spicy kick to it in a very very good way. My only complaint is that the meat is a bit tough and wish it was cooked more tender for sure. But you know what, for $10, I would most certainly go back and at least try other selections. After having gone back for a few more times and tried their basil steak and separately their $12 classic steak (asked and cooked to perfection of medium rare), I am a big believer with their food and give it 4 stars. After reading other reviews, I had high hopes but was a bit disappointed. I expected the steak to be a regular steak cooked to order which is them sliced and put into your order. Instead it was basically shredded beef which is cooked well done. The vegetables which I believe are supposed to be steamed seemed raw to me. It was just 2 pieces of broccoli and a slice or two of carrots. The French fries were good and the accompanying side of curry sauce was actually quite good and had lots of flavor. From what I can tell, the Basil Steak is different from the Classic because it includes additional veggies (peppers, onions). They asked if I wanted white sauce or spicy sauce, and I asked for a little bit of each. First bite was heaven. Really well seasoned food - not too salty, which I hate - and just enough fries. The whole thing was served over a happy little bed of white rice. I agree with the other reviews that the veggies (broccoli, carrots) are a bit more on the crunchy side, but honestly, that's what I prefer. Don't love my veggies all soggy. Note the name of the truck - it's "Chop Steak" - so you're not getting a "regular steak" (would you, for $10??) -- it's chopped beef. The truck is attractive for a few reasons: 1. The lines are not that long compared to the other trucks in the area (e.g. you won't wait for 30 minutes like you can with the Greek truck) 2. The menu is super simple: some form of chopped steak with rice/french fries and token veggies. The steak itself comes in a few flavorings: basil steak, curry steak, sesame steak. A few others. Some say that the food here is cheap. It's so-so. For $11 you can buy enough food to be semi-stuffed. Expensive by "halal truck standards" but cheap by restaurant standards. Some say the steak is delicious. Yeah, it kinda is. The steak has obviously been marinaded for a long time. Very tasty. but you'll notice that the steak is rather tough. It's a cheap cut of beef (duh.. it's a food truck!) and to make matters worse, they cut the beef *with* the grain, not against the grain. That means lots of chewing, and steak between the teeth. Too chewy. The veggies are "horrible throwaway veggie tokens". No, really. They're obviously frozen. Think "Bird's Eye frozen vegetable mix" from the freezer section of your local supermarket. They put french fries in your rice. Crazy, right? OK, french fries and rice are good in a "reverse keto" kind of way. Despite all this, the food is tasty and it's a halfway decent bargain for marinated steak. I just wish they'd use a nicer cut of meat and learn how to cut against the steak grain. I had the sesame steak, and I'd probably order some of their other steak dishes just to try them, but honestly, I wouldn't come back for the same dish twice; I'd rather wait 15 minutes on the Greek Truck's line. read more

I first read about these guys on Midtown Lunch and saw that these guys were ranked fourth in this year's Street Meat a Palooza. They are so mofo'ing good. Unlike other chicken and rice vendors, they actually include a decent salad with spinach and arugula leaves accompanied by dried cranberries. They also throw in some surprise waffle fries, falafels, and pita. It's good variety, the chicken and gyro meat is grilled to moist perfection, and the yellow rice is seasoned to titillating levels. Simply delicious. And if you get sick of the chicken and gyro platter, you can easily switch off onto something else that will clog your arteries probably just as much. The cart uses a flank steak that is marinated well and is akin to the kind of steak that one would see at a Latin American comida tipica spot. All in all the sauce toppings placed on the steak, rice, veggies and fries were really well done and I was surprised that I liked it so much. At the end of the day, the combined white and spicy orange sauce kind of made the beef taste like marinated kalbi in that spicy Korean red sauce but all together different at the same time. All I can say is that it seems that positive reviews must be from people who lost their taste buds. My co-worker and I got different chopped steaks, which we could barely tell apart. The steak isn't wagyu (is a food truck), but it's marinated and cooked very well. I can always do without the regular or spicy mayo, but the house sauce is very flavorful. My only request would be to remove some rice to make room for more vegetables. As an FYI, many people have commented on the wrong food truck. Anything prior to 2015 is for another truck.
