I've been here several times for takeout and it has never disappointed me. I got the chicken kabobs and they were tender and delicious. Same for my wife, who got the lamb chops. We added the spinach and dal sides and they were perfect complements. This food was reasonably priced, especially considering current conditions and our experience with other places, so I highly recommend it. My wife and I are relatively light eaters and the portion sizes are good, so we will be enjoying leftovers as the food reheats well. read more

Consider another option for halal. This place is not sanitary. Food gets left out over night. I went there at 8pm with a group of 7. The place didn't have any customers so I asked the waiter twice if they would serve us. He said it was fine both times. We ordered appetizers and entrees within 15 minutes of seating. We were never asked for drink orders. We received over cooked and cold food. At 9pm, the waiter informed us they were closed and to hurry up. We asked for the check and some to go boxes. At 9:15, he was back asking us to leave. What a poor display of customer service. We left and noticed the waiter and cook were leaving the restaurant as well with all the food and dirty plates still on the tables. They speed off in the parking lot. read more

So glad I found this place via Yelp! I no longer have to drive all the way to Fremont for the beef patty! It's pretty tasty here. It's a little on the spicy side for me, but that's how it's traditionally made. It's tasty! I have only had the beef patty, rice and the pumpkin bolani. I spent about $30 on just that, which is kind of a lot for one to two people. Really one person (because we only had one entree). I ordered to go via GrubHub so I can't comment on the customer service for dining in. But for pick up, my order was ready in time. It was a really easy process. I would come back and try the other dishes next time. It'll probably become a staple place when I flip to vegan next month. read more

My families favorite Afghan restaurant! Great service and even better food. It's located right off the freeway. There used to be a Persian restaurant here (Shiraz) but Chopans has taken their place. Went for a late lunch Sunday from shopping all day; ordered the Kabuli pulao - lamb shank with rice raisin and carrots and it did not disappoint; fall off the bone tender and so flavorful + huge portion, which I initially thought I was going to take home half; but it was soo good, I finished the entire huge dish. This is a consistently great place to eat "comfort" food. Even the bread is thoughtfully made served warm- flaky on the outside yet a little chewy in the middle. I placed an order for 2 orders of Bolani Kachaloo and 2 orders of bolani kadoo. The presentation was nice and the food was just okay. The Kachaloo was good. The Kadoo was not really cooked. It was like raw squash/pumpkin, we were disappointed. I don't think I will order from here again unfortunately unless i get a strong craving for Bolani Kachaloo. The service was ok because I asked for a hot cup of water but they brought we warm water. We ordered mantu, bolani kadoo, 1 Chopan kabab, and 2 lamb kababs. We were group of 12, so we ordered many different dishes to try like shami kebab, chapli, chicken tikka masala, manto, chicken kebab, 2 types of boloni, lamb kebabs, chicken sandwich and banjan! Friendly service and the food was decent. The bolani portion is HUGE. I didn't realize it'd be served to me in a pizza box. I know Afghan food is supposed to be heavy, but this was a little oilier than we like. I'd come back but I'm going to try some other places first.
