First off I want to say we LOVE this restaurant. One of the best breakfast places in Corpus but recently we noticed they are starting to slack on the basics. Menus are falling apart and a filthy, no soap in the restrooms, table was sticky, crumbs wrapped up in the silverware napkins. This breakfast was a choice from my traveling friend not mine! I would have preferred to have gone either back to the other place or somewhere else. The food was extra large and not well cooked. The staff was wonderful and friendly but that was all. My eggs were not cooked all the way, the potatoes had no flavor, the bacon was greasy and my French toast never made it out until the end of our meal and it was the tiniest piece of -2- out of all of the items at this restaurant my French toast was the smallest. I was expecting it to be as large as the other food items that came out. And it was the only thing that saved me from starving! They are very clean and very friendly, just not for me. I think this is our new favorite place! Loved the wait staff. Very friendly and fast! We didn't have a long wait on a week day morning. The food is tasty and presentation is just awesome. The portions are huge and you will not leave hungry. The taste on my sage chicken was just delicious and had an amazing Chipotle sause on it that I would love to purchase in a bottle. Second time dining at C&E, and I was still not blown away by the food. I had the chops and eggs plate and shared waffle & eggs with my picky son. The batter they use for the waffle is outstanding! We went there for dinner tonight. Place was so clean and nice atmosphere. Since it was just opened last month everything was so clean. I ordered T-bone steak and I asked for rare. When it came, it was more like medium and over cooked just a little. Since I like my steak really really rare, I was little disappointed but other than that everything was really good. I loved their fried calamari and fried green tomato!!!! (Fried green tomato was my very first time trying) my husband had chorizo hash and both my kids had Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes and they cleaned that plate!!! I tracked down a server and they said they would check on it. Food arrived 45 minutes after I arrived. I was by myself - they table of four that arrived before me was still waiting. Server was nice and apologetic ("We're new"). There seemed to be a lot of running around, but not a lot of food coming out of the kitchen. The food was great, but it was BREAKFAST. Breakfast does not take this long to make. As I was leaving, the lobby was JAM PACKED with people waiting for a table (more outside and more walking in). I hope they don't have anywhere else to be this morning... Finally, what's up with the tiny parking lots on Yorktown & Staples these days (spacing is more appropriate for downtown Tokyo or Venice)? Their chicken n waffles are the only menu item I've tried. The first time I ordered it, I was in Heaven. The second and third time it was just okay. The French Toast plate comes with one slice of French Toast, the Eggs Benedict does not come with the mashed potatoes. Nothing came out correctly either, and when we said something the manager snapped at us and said "you're welcome" and the end of every sentence.We were not the only ones having problems, tables around us were also complaining about their food. I saw this place on Yelp and decided to check it out since we are from San Antonio. The wait was worth it. We waited about one hour inside my car since the lobby was crowded. We ended up sitting in the back room, that had about 7 different tables. Our server was amazing, her name was Rejina. She was super attentive and got everything out in a timely manner. I got the crab cake hash, and my oh my goodness that was super delicious and huge plate. My sister got the Nutella stuffed crepe and added strawberries on it. She loved it. My friend got the Nutella stuffed strawberry banana waffle and it was huge portion and she said it was super sweet. The food took a while which was fine because they were super busy and it was definitely worth it. We got mimosas that were $4 dollars each and the coffee was $3. Overall the tab was about $70 for 3 people which I was reasonable for how delicious the food was! We got a side of hash browns and 2 pieces of bacon again really delicious! We visited Chops & Eggs for the first time tonight. First of all, there's a sanitizing station just outside the front door and you can use a paper towel to open the door and there's a trash can as soon as you walk in to throw it away. I was impressed. It has a country type of vibe with wood paneling and a beautiful bar. Next, I'm shocked that the rating isn't higher. The service was so, so good. Our server checked on us throughout, was super friendly, and was able to offer suggestions off the menu. We started with the the smoked salmon hash. The potatoes were seasoned perfectly, eggs cooked perfectly, and the biscuit was one of the best I have ever had. I will definitely be trying another hash next time. I had the Florentine crepes and my husband got the chicken and waffle with eggs and bacon. The crepes were such a unique dish. The filling was really flavorful and the sauce had a hint of spice and you could taste the vanilla from the crepes. As far as the chicken and waffle goes, the portion was huge and the cornflake coating on the chicken was amazing. Everything was cooked perfectly. I love the addition of rosemary too - you can taste the rosemary without it being overpowering. I would definitely give this place a try - great food, great portions, and great service! read more

My wife told me about this place's day it's chicken fried steak. So we took the long drive from Houston. Got there and put ourselves on the waitlist. First, they don't have chicken fried steak, it is called Jordan's Sage Fried Chicken, so basically it is a fried chicken breast with country gravy on it. The portion of chicken was very good, the potatoes had good flavor, but were not pipping hot nor were my scrambled eggs. They also were a little stingy on the gravy, I had to ask for extra. VEGAN REVIEW--This place was great. My grandparents had been wanting to visit forever! They loved it too. They have this cute selfie station at the front, and bathrooms were clean. The staff were amazing & kind. The GM even came by & checked on us. They have 4/5 vegan options on the menu. I got the burger, it was so good! A beyond meat patty w/ cheese. All vegan of course. No vegan appetizers or desserts but that's ok. This place will do if you have a family were only 1 or 2 people eat vegan. Luckily I have that switch in my brain where I can block out music that does nothing for me. Don't be in a hurry if you want to stop here and eat. There will be a wait for a table. Great place in Corpus for breakfast. Our waitress today was amazing. My daughter was set to have chemo in an hour and we forgot the numbing cream for her port. So we had to hurry and ask for our food to go. She was so good...she was already bringing our plates out when we realized it and she hurried and got us the to go boxes and our check. We made it back to her apartment put cream on and ate at her apartment. Phew!!!!. The food was delicious. And made it in time for her appointment.
