I was greeted by Marcel the manager with a firm handshake and a huge smile. I like that. I looked over the craft cocktail list and decided on a platinum moscow mule(not sure what makes.it platinum..maybe the light haired server who goes by the number 302..yes a number not a name. I told 302 he could call me Miss 954. This is going to be a fun night I can tell already. My mule is outstanding it's like I'm drinking limeade!I I got here for happy hour which is 5 to 7 pm and ordered 2 small plates on the happy hr menu which are the clams casino and the Thai calamari(both 7 dollars) and also had to try the burgundy escargots. Those were not on the happy hour menu and are 16 dollars for an order of 6. The clams casino are delicious little clams with bacon and a light bread crumb dusting and I think thyme or rosemary. They are very good! The escargots float in a heavenly garlic butter topped with a fluffy pastry puff top. It sops up the garlic butter rather well. They are almost like escargot shooters. The Thai calamari is spicy with scallions and green beans in it. Truly delicious! For my entree I was torn between the crusted grouper that my friend paula ordered but instead opf being a copy cat I ordered the hong kong combo which was chilean sea bass and north atlantic salmon over spinach with a miso broth and a side of jasmine rice came with the dish. Paulas grouper was atop sauteed florida kale. Generous portions cooked impecibly and the service..well that alone ranks 10 stars..302 was attentive, helpful and a great server. I found out later 302 has a real name its walter. From the deep wood interior to the casual patio seating no matter where i was I was always looked after by my server 302! On a scale of 1 to 5 our food was a 10! IF you want excellent delicious food (seafood, steaks, chops or chicken) THIS is a must try. I suggest going like I did at the tail end of happy hour for the reduced small plates for appetizers and then order your main dish, Not that I was looking to be cheap or cut corners but when the small plates are 1/2 price for happy hour how can you not take advantage of that. On a side note: I had some of the thai calamari left and asked to have it doggie bagged for my dad and somehow 302 accidentally threw it out. When he brought my doggie bag from my meal I asked what happened to the calamari and walter explained he accidentally tossed it out BUT he would have the kitchen make me a complete new order...I said NO but there it was all wrapped nicely for me to take home. To me this shows supreme class and excellent service. They didnt have to do that for me but they did. Can I give more than 5 stars..I wish I could because Chops deserves 10 stars. From beginning to our ending irish coffees everything was tip top perfect! A must try for all my yelp friends! Thank me later. Will I return? You better believe I will! Came here tonight thinking it would be a good place, however, majorly disappointed. We had a girl server named Lona who literally only came to get our drink and food order. Never came back once except to give us the bill. Food took about an hour and a half. We didn't get our bread until half an hour in. Food was not that great for the price paid. Don't waste your money. I am reaching out in regards to a horrific experience I had at Chops Boca Raton restauraunt yesterday, November 29th. To begin the meal we sat down at the table for 20 minutes before being approached. A polite Indian man who was running the main dining room noticed that we were consistently looking for a waitor. He approached us to take our drink order and told us he was going to get our waitor. Upon finishing our appetizers a young woman at our table, my son's girlfriend, asked for a fork because hers had fallen on the floor. The new fork never came. On the third time asking the waitor, José, for the fork he snapped at her and said I know ma'am I requested one for you. The young women at the table politely asked jose not to speak to her that way. It all gets worse from here. My wife ordered her second drink which 20 minutes later still hadn't arrived. When we realized the second drink was never coming we reordered it along with the rest of the tables second round. When the main course arrived 2 of the 5 potatoes came out ice cold as well as a requested medium steak cooked well done. When telling the waiter to please have this corrected we also requested to speak to the matirede. The Indian floor coordinator, Monroe the maitrede, and a blonde women all surrounded our table making a mortifying unecessary scene. The worst part of the night has yet to come. When the bill arrived I placed my Chops staus card as well as my personal debit card into the check cardholder slot. When receiving the check back I found only my status card, my debit card went missing. We had the entire wait staff with flash lights in hand looking for the debit card. After 15 minutes went by with no success the blonde woman whom I believe may be the general manager insisted that I didn't put my debit card in there and that I should check my car. The waitor, José, agreed with this as well. My 22 year old daughter who runs customer service for a high end retailer saw how this was being handled and took charge. My daughter as well as the Indian man went through all garbage cans and bill folds at the pay station. She continued on to ask them to pull up the two previous and two after paid for meals to see if the card was brought to their table by mistake. When the entire team ignored her request my daughter asked jose to show her exactly where he went when he took responsibility of the card upon leaving the table. Jose lead my daughter, retracing his steps, into the dish washing room where my daughter, not jose, lifted rubber wet mats in an attempt to find the card. My daughter apologized to the men washing the dishes wearing all white for interrutung their routine. Upon further look my daughter found the card underneath a garbage can in the corner of the dish washing room of your establishment. It was in a pile of water. My daughter picked up the card to have it ripped out of her hands by jose. My daughter asked three times to have the card back before jose would give it up. On the third time asking for the card back jose threw it at my daughter and said here you go ma'am and walked out of the dish washing room where he left my daughter. This was a Friday night of a holiday weekend where my kids flew in from New York City. You can never give me back the night that was taken away in the short time that we had to spend together. My entire family left the restauraunt feeling as through we were treated as criminals. My daughter requested that I explicitly tell you the details of this night so you as the owner can appropriately share with all team members to ensure that this NEVER happens to another family. This is the only reason for this email and i wanted you to be aware of how the establishment which bears your name is being mismanaged. I hope you had a nice holiday weekend, this experience ruined mine. read more

It's always a bad sign when your blood pressure is higher leaving a restaurant than when you got there. Our experience tonight at Chops was infuriating for so many reasons, most all related to service. We walked in at 8 tonight and found two seats at the bar. The bartenders were on the opposite end chatting with each other and a good 5 minutes or so passed before one nudged the other to come over. She came and stood in front of us without saying a word. Finally she asked "what would you like?" And we ordered drinks. She brought them. Then zero interaction for a half an hour. Another man sat next to us and it took them over 10 minutes to come greet him. Finally we flagged down the bartender (who after disappearing for about 10 minutes absolutely reeked of cigarettes) and asked if we could order something. "Sure" she said... And placed napkins in front of us, and plates and menus, but NEVER CAME BACK to ask what we wanted to order. Now it's 8:45. We finally get the other bartender's attention and we order some appetizers and another round of drinks, since our first round had long been empty. The food was fine. Shrimp cocktail was good, but way better at other places... Crab cake and lobster bites were good, but nothing I'd go back for. At this point, we just want to go home. All told we were there close to two hours for appetizers and drinks because of the slow, distracted, unprofessional service. The bar was so dirty, and when I walked to the restroom, I could see service trays piled with dishes throughout the place. Sorry, that doesn't happen at Houston's or Morton's. They could do well to visit both places to see what good service looks like. Also, the bathroom was gross, with dirty stalls and toilet seats coming off their hinges. We will not be back. read more

Firstly, my colleague and I walked into this place and was given the up and down look by the server...umm k. "Hello" I said...they appeared confused. My colleague was like "is any one going to sit us"? After the normal salutation of course! The sever pointed to the area were we wanted to sit... I guess that was a no! The hostess said that we had to sit ourselves. Wanted to order black cherries with my Manhattan and the server lied and said they didn't have it(not his fault--appear inexperienced... I over heard the conversation as I asked this server to ask the bartender if they indeed have these types cherries. I overheard the bartender say, we do but it's for a particular person...what does that mean? I wonder...The sever comes back and lied again saying that "we don't have it"...I quickly corrected him and told him I overheard the conversation. He said sorry, "yea it's for a particular person"...I guess I wasn't worthy of a small cherry for my drink.. I decided not to order my favorite Manhattan drink, I heard so much about! Twenty minutes later, the sever comes back and says that the cherries were brought in by a customer is why I couldn't have any. So you mean to tell me that someone from the out side can bring their own contents in this establishment? why the excuses? I had one glass of wine (which I kindly returned because it was so bad --yuck)...I did not feel welcome and that was it! It's the very small things in life and this was mine! Too bad I couldn't taste the lovely food I heard so much about! Oh well...I quickly exited... Nice place though! read more

This place has a great ambiance and the service is second to none. The food however was subpar for the price. I pad $49 for a ribeye that was burnt and tough. The sides were ok but nothing out of the ordinary. I am basing this experience mostly on the steak. Bland, charred, tough, not a $49 steak at all. What a bizarre concept! 90's cover band blaring in the bar while the elegant dining room was filled with dark rich wood and tile ceilings. We were greeted at the door with a cool reception while at the same time, another party of 2 walking into the bar had the host turn from us to rush to shake one of their hands while the other in the same party stood with his hand outstretched that went ignored. We were seated with no wine list (had to request one) which we found a bit strange for a steak house. Server was friendly, server assistants didn't look up as they were clearing our courses. Wine list was reasonable as were the entrees. We had 2, 2 lb Maine lobsters, a salad and 3 drinks for under $200. Server didn't check back with us when our entrees were delivered and apologized at the end of the evening stating, "Sorry I didn't check on you but it looked like you were enjoying your dinners". It felt like Olive Garden (or worse) service in a fine dining steak house. It wasn't bad, but didn't match the decor or menu. As we let ourselves out, a man in a Chef's coat rushed the door and said good night as he pulled the door shut. The host and another server were seated at a table outside the restaurant and said good night as well as we walked away from another chain restaurant we won't be going back to. There was obviously no managerial presence that evening. I haven't yet been, but the other person in my party said Jake's Stone Crab next door is much better. read more

Great steaks but don't discount the fish! Everyone at my table had steak. I ordered the "Hong Kong special. Having just returned from a vacation which included Hong Kong, I wanted to see how this dish measured up. Very very good. Light, fresh, nice broth. Added the rice into the broth and I was a happy camper. Everyone else enjoyed their lobster and steaks. Nice ambience, good attentive waiter. If I have a negative it would relate to the bar. Definitely, if you closed your eyes and listened to the bar staff, you would think you're in some key west biker bar. Total lack of class! And our experience was terrible even despite our dinner host being a regular knowing and being attended to by some of the managers Service: 5-10 minutes till approached an introduced by the server. Constant having to waive staff down for water refills. More infuriating as restaurant was uncomfortably warm. Admitted by the staff itself. that there were HVAC issues, Food: B quality at best. Not sure if the steak was prime (although the prices were) but clearly an inferior quality full of fat. Steak tartare was INEDIBLE. Both as to texture and taste. Manager came and inquired and apologized but left it on check anyway. Tells you a lot. Food preparation and delivery: Poorly timed. Meal took forever. Just ordered the $175.00 40oz. wagyu beef dinner. What a gimmick 30 oz of bone and 10 oz of beef and fat. Don't bother going to this rip off. My first impression from the outside was positive as it holds a high-end type decor and outdoor seating area. Once we walked inside, the ambiance made a sudden change as the hostesses ignored our request for "table for 2" and took the following party first. I am not one to play the "racist card" but our demeanor and grammar definitely didn't play a role in that poor excuse for service. We were told that the "lounge" area was self seating, however we noticed every following party being seated as normal restaurants do. We then waited 10 minutes before being asked about drink choices (which is 8 minutes too long in my opinion) but the waiter was wonderful. Now, on to the food. I ordered the "Steak & Frites" and my boyfriend ordered the baby lobster tail (fried) and the clams. Everything was great except my NY strip was a bit too charred, leaving a burnt and bitter taste afterward. We had the White Chocolate Banana Cream pie for dessert which was great and the wine selection is superb. I may or may not return to be honest. Check for yourselves! read more

The restaurant became very noisy as soon as the music started. The music was at the bar area but it was heard throughout the restaurant. The diners needed to raise their voices to overcome the sound of the music, causing an annoying dinning experience. I was unpleasantly surprised that my lobster came cut up. Great date night. Wife had I both had the set menu weekdays M-TH for $49 and drinks separately. Vanilla Manhattan was awesome. Lychee martini was ok - too sweet. By course: excellent chop salad and lump crab/shrimp appetizers. She had the NY Strip, which was perfectly charred and temp, and I had the stuffed lobster. Lobster was great, stuffing was so-so. Did not meet our expectations. "Ceviche" was cooked fish sitting in a dish consisting of primarily chopped vegetables. Lobster roll contained too much mayo. Porterhouse not up to fine steakhouse standards; too much gristle, not cooked to order. Servers not professionally trained. One guest in our party left the table as the entrees were served. The server kept her entree warm. When she returned, she had far too long a wait for her entree to be served. This is unacceptable in this type of establishment. The selection of craft beers is absolutely pathetic. The acoustics make it impossible to have a pleasant conversation during the meal. Hostesses dress inappropriately. Incredibly disappointing overall. Foodies should choose a different steakhouse. read more

Well I don't know if we went on an "off night", but the the lobster Mac and cheese was a joke almost no lobster and didn't even taste like cheese the texture of the dish was off. We did get the Thai calamari which was amazing. However that was all that was amazing. Steak was not cooked to what was ordered and felt like we were rushed. I have had the pleasure of dining at Chops Lobster House many times. The food is of the highest quality and is cooked to perfection. The caesar salad served on a chilled plate is the best I have ever had. The burger is freshly ground sirloin, juicy and delicious. I also love the tuna tartar, crab cake and flash fried lobster. I dont love salmon However they cook salmon just the way i like it. Save room for dessert, the banana cream pie is to die for. My review extends to the attentive yet not intrusive service. I had the scallops and risotto; they were good but not exceptional. My husband had the special filet ......again good but not exceptional. The chop salad was very good but we did not like the lobster bisque. The almond praline and berries was good, but Max's grill does a better job. For steaks I would prefer Abe & Louies or Council Oaks. For seafood.....Blue Moon. Service was excellent and overall a nice experience, but you can definitely do better in S. Florida. read more

A Great establishment. Me and the hubby celebrated our anniversary dinner there and were more than satisfied. The staff is extremely friendly and pleasant. The food was Deliciously Good and Presentation was great. We decided to try the prefix menu (appetizer, entree & dessert) for $54.00 which we chose the ceasar salad, shrimp&crab, surf & turf with white Mac/cheese, truffle fries and chocolate cake. The steak & flash fried lobster tail was delicious and perfectly proportioned. When it was time for dessert they wrote happy anniversary across the plates with a candle lit (great gesture on there part). The staff would occasionally stop by and wish us happy anniversary and even held fun conversation. The chef stop by the table to check on our food and thanked us for our business. They messed up my steak order twice, but the food was good and everyone was very nice. I wanted to give 4 stars and my husband wanted to give 2 stars. We were using a gift certificate, but had I been paying for the meal myself, I probably would have given 2 stars. A fancy steak house really has no excuse for both serving the wrong meal and way undercooking a $50 steak. They did send 3 separate people over to apologize for sending the wrong meal. They offerd me a drink, but I don't drink, and I was not sure it was being comped due to getting the wrong meal, or not being comped. They did give us a free dessert, but since we did not want it, we took it home for our kids. When the server came, we told her about a nut allergy. She told us the bread had nuts, so we told her not to bring bread. The bread basket arrived while she was taking our order. Maybe she did not realized it arrived ( with nut bread inside). I did not realized I got the wrong meal right away. After a couple of bites, I realized my meal was covered in sauce, when I ordered a plain steak. I pointed it out when the server asked about our meals. They said they would bring a new one, and yes indeeed, they sent the wrong meal. The second steak was served way less cooked than I asked for. I did not realize until I got to the middle. I showed the server and he agreed, yes, it was not cooked how I asked for it. The meal was good, but a good steak house really should cook how you order. I probably won't return. The food was good, but for what I consider an expensive meal, I want what I order and the way I ordered it. read more

The service here is really good and the restaurant is beautiful. The crowd varies and it is an interesting time. There are plenty of things to look at, to say the least. There is a full bar, nice wine list...the menu is good but the portions are minuscule for the price. Whatever you order will taste good, for the few bites it takes to eat it, but this is not a place you'll leave full unless youre ready to order a lot...It's pricey, like everywhere else in its league. It's good for what it is but I've been to many fine restaurants and this one is just not up there with my favorites. The reason it is NOT a 5 star restaurant to me , is that it is SO NOISY you cannot have a conversation with the people at your table! We were in the back area, where the ceilling is made of tiles, terrible acoustics. Plus, the restaurant is too packed, and tables are too close to each other. So, since you have to yell to speak to the person across your table, everyone yells and the noise level is maddening! Chops, you can definitely fix that! Obviously one of the most expensive places we have ever been after over 20 years in Boca. And this was worth waiting for. If you want a 14 oz lobster tail perfectly cooked and served with a flame underneath the clarified butter, this is the place. If you want a soft shelled crab large and perfectly cooked, this is the place. If you want a great martini artfully mixed and a perfect pour, this is the place.
