I thought Chopt was OK/three stars. My wife liked it better than me and would rate this place four stars. I'm not opposed to it. At the time of writing this review, Yelp's average rating for this Chopt location is 3.5 stars (92 reviews) so it's pretty spot-on, in my opinion. If you're in the mood for salad, this place suffices. While Chopt isn't bad, I wouldn't put it among my favorite salad bars/greens and grains bowls restaurants. For example, in Chapel Hill, I like nearby CAVA better for both taste and portion size: https://www.yelp.com/biz/cava-chapel-hill-3. Currently, in the Triangle, there are three Chopt locations: this one in Chapel Hill and two in Raleigh. This Chapel Hill location opened in June 2017. The chain has been around since 2001 and has locations up and down the East Coast. This was our first visit to any location. I'm pretty sure the business is named Chopt because they literally chop your salad as part of the ordering process. The setup is fast-casual, like a Chipotle, with fresh, customizable ingredients selected and placed into your bowl upfront, then chopping with dressing applied and bread added, and then payment. Drinks, eating utensils, napkins, condiments, etc. are self-serve. During our visit, Chopt had several salads with preset ingredient combinations priced around $8-12 each. There were seasonal offerings and warm bowls too. My wife got one of the Chopt Classic salads and I got a Warm Bowl. Everything on the menu was low-calorie. I've got to hand it to Chopt for keeping it healthy, something very rare for restaurants. Salads ranged from as little as 245 calories (Sesame Ginger Crunch, $9.89) to 715 calories (Harvest, $10.99). My wife had the Santa Fe (450 calories, $8.99) with grilled chicken added (+$2.99). The Santa Fe came with avocado, grape tomatoes, corn, Pepper Jack cheese, crispy shallots, and romaine lettuce with Sweet & Smoky Chipotle Vinaigrette dressing. I had the Mediterranean warm bowl (610 calories, $10.49). The Mediterranean came with warm grains or cauliflower rice (I chose warm grains) with Lemon Tahini Dressing, roasted chicken, cucumber and tomato salad, local feta cheese, Mama Lil's spicy peppers, cabbage and cilantro blend, and crispy chickpeas with a House Vinaigrette. At the end of the chopping and mixing process, we were both asked if we wanted bread. We both said yes. In general, I thought the salads were A-OK. All of the ingredients were fresh and overall, the salads were flavorful and satisfying enough. I will say these salads didn't leave me feeling as full as other salad/bowl restaurants, but those other restaurants typically serve more (calories) at more cost. So, if you're trying to diet or eat healthy, I do think Chopt is a fine option. We dined in for dinner and while we didn't feel hungry leaving the restaurant, we could have gone out for dessert somewhere. We ended up having mango sticky rice later that evening. I thought the salads were crisp and well-balanced. The half-slices of bread were tasty. I'm not sure what kind of bread Chopt uses. It's marketed as "Artisan Bread." Speaking of which, there was a sign inside the dining room that listed the restaurant's "Local Partners & Favorite Artisans." For example, the cucumbers, cabbage, and grape tomatoes were all local to North Carolina, the onions came from Georgia, and meat like beef and bacon came from South Carolina. My wife's Santa Fe bowl was served in a clear plastic container and my Mediterranean warm bowl was served in a compostable paper container, presumably because it was warm. All orders are designed for takeout, which is what I observed most customers do during our stay. The dining room was modern, spacious, and clean. They have an uncovered patio with umbrella-covered tables too. Chopt is located in the Eastgate Crossing shopping center on the northeast side of Chapel Hill. Same shopping center as Trader Joe's, two doors down from Chipotle, on 15-501 (the Fordham Blvd stretch of 15-501). Service was good from everyone. Chloe P checked us out. When we visited, Chopt was doing a two-week free delivery deal. Something to consider.

Always a wonderful experience at Chopt. I love having my salad Chopt (yes, this is to be confused with chopped) because it prevents feeling like I'm stuffing my face and getting dressing all over my face. No, I'm not a kid. The store was exceptionally clean and has a serene atmosphere with light music playing. It's a unique salad experience which contributes to its success. Give it a try!

I had high hopes and I confounded myself. I studied the menu on the wall for a long time, but I heard the guy ahead of me get the "mumble mumble jerk chicken" and I thought okay that's the answer. It was on a placard near the ordering line. Well I eventually had to have the worker and me yelling back and forth thru our face masks DO YOU WANT CAULIFLOWER RICE?? // I DON'T KNOW JUST DO IT REGULAR for a while. And I was ultimately disappointed. I will definitely go back, even though it is too expensive. It was good and filling, but too weird. There is no soda-fountain at all, but they do have very nice iced-tea.

I ordered curbside pickup and they were very prompt with bringing me my order. It is a nice size salad for the price. I got the sesame ginger chicken salad for $12.35 and it tasted pretty good. It was not extravagant like "omg this is so good" but it was still good and filling. Be sure to get extra sauce if you like a lot sauce.

Vegan Mexicali

Picked up 2 salads for lunch. There were some good vegan options- I got the vegan Mexicali salad. It was tasty and well balanced! The ordering and pick up system was very easy. Parking in this plaza is difficult at Lunchtime

Will & Well is a great addition to Boxyard if you're looking for a fresh salad, grain bowl, or…read moresmoothie option. The setup is counter service, with a handful of premade salads and bowls on the menu, or you can build your own. The build-your-own option starts at $12.99 and includes your base, five toppings, one crunchy/dry topping, and dressing. Proteins are extra and range from about $4.25-$6.50, with options including tofu, shrimp, chicken, steak, and tuna. I opted for a build-your-own bowl with chicken, which came out to just under $20 before tip. At first, that felt a little pricey to me, but the portion size was absolutely massive. Honestly, it was large enough to easily make two meals, which made the value feel much better. The woman helping me was incredibly friendly and even let me sample three different dressings before deciding. I also appreciated that you can get your dressing on the side if you prefer. All 3 I tried were good, but all very different, and I'm glad I had a chance to try them! One thing to note is that it was fairly warm inside the business, which gave me a little pause considering it's a salad-focused concept. That said, everything tasted fresh and high quality. There were only two employees working during my visit on a Wednesday around 6:30, and with about 4-5 people ahead of me, it took around 20 minutes to place my order, get my bowl made, and check out. The staff was working hard, and being incredibly helpful, but if you're in a hurry, just plan accordingly. Overall, I'd definitely return. It's nice to have a quality salad option at Boxyard, the ingredients were fresh, the portions were generous, and the service was helpful and kind. Just be prepared that there may be a bit of a wait and to spend around $20 if you're adding protein (but you can easily share or make two meals from it!!!) My picture doesn't do the size justice I promise!

First, this is now a family business and as a result they are almost always understaffed. Usually only one person seating folks, taking orders, making drinks (when they know how,,) running tables, refilling drinks, preparing and paying checks, etc.. all the same person. With one or two more in the kitchen. There is sometimes a language barrier as well. Bottom line, decent food (the birra tacos and hotdogs are solid) a bit pricy because of the neighborhood but otherwise an okay time. Hope they get the other part of the building opened and can hire more help at some point.

We sat at the entrance very far from the bathrooms. Appetizer was good, we got chips and queso. I ordered something but the server forgot to place the order. My oldest daughter ate the mac and cheese but it was very basic mac and cheese and my youngest stopped eating her chicken fingers after 1 bite. I tried it and there was no taste to it. Just blend chicken, the breading had no seasoning. I will never go back to that place and I do not recommend it.

My husband and I went on a late Saturday afternoon and we were seated immediately. We shared the Fido's Fries as an appetizer and I got the Chili Cheese Dogs as my entree. Almost everything could be made veggie or vegan so I asked for the dogs to be veggie. My meal also came with a side so I got the frickles (fried pickles). The Fido's Fries were beer battered fries, topped with cheese, bacon (we got the pork option but they have soy), scallions, & sour cream (on the side). The fries were absolutely delicious! I loved my chili cheese dogs as well. It was a very generous portion because it was two dogs and a ton of frickles. As a dog lover, I adored all of the dog art & statues around the place. The menu is even dog themed. I mean they call appetizers kibbles & bits. That could not be any cuter! There is indoor seating (with a bar) and outdoor seating. As you can probably already tell, the restaurant is dog friendly (with their outdoor area). They even have a dog friendly menu (called puppy meals). Service was superb! There is no dedicated parking lot but we easily found free parking a few blocks away. My mom is a vegan and we sometimes struggles to find creative meals when she visits. I will definitely be taking her here next!

My drink was good but I'm pretty sure the house made syrup was made with sweetener that was not cane sugar and I'm very sensitive to any other sweetener. Menu was large and I had a hard time deciding. It is a somewhat vegan place much to my surprise so I figured why not try it here because I do love good vegan option even though I do eat meat I ordered the trio of patties black eyed peas and black bean. I took a bite of each and left the rest. Three different staff noticed my untouched food but none inquired or offered replacing it or removing it from bill which to me would be a gesture of a good business practice. My companion enjoyed and loved each morsel of his crab cakes! The battered fries were great! My server was very kind and attentive.
