The chicken, on the other hand, was a little too salty and had several burned pieces. I understand that some people enjoy charred chicken, but this was too much char for my preference. I also strongly prefer white meat and assumed the kebabs would be made with chicken breast, but they contained a mixture of white and dark meat. Garlic sauce is usually my favorite part when ordering from similar restaurants, but I did not enjoy the garlic sauce here. It tasted more like sour cream mixed with garlic, which was unusual and not what I expected. The cauliflower was also different from what I anticipated. I expected battered, fried cauliflower, but it appeared to be a large piece of plain cauliflower dipped directly into hot oil. There was also a significant amount of oil pooled at the bottom of the container. Overall, the portions were generous and the delivery was timely, but the flavors and preparation just weren't for me.

The food looked decent upon first glance, but I wasn't sold just yet. After my first bite of fish, I was taken aback by the delicious flavor of their cream sauce paired with the blackened fish. It was a solid portion of fish and tasted of good quality, so it didn't stand much a chance. The sides were also just as delicious. It's hard to mess up fried okra so my expectations were met to a tee. The collard greens were actually so incredible as well. I don't really know what they're made of but I definitely will be trying it more in the future, if other places prepare it as good. They also had a house hot sauce with was more flavor than heat, but paired wonderfully with everything. That said, Yard Dog is not a dog at all, but a superb little restaurant with a great menu and mouth-watering foods. Oh boy! Wife and I entered and were surprised at just how small their dining area was. Couple that with a not-so-pleasant noise level, you will have difficulty seating more than four and conversation will be tough, but not impossible. You came to eat. It is a very cozy, busy and fun place. In addition to the super menu there is a chalk board with specials. Check those out first. I spotted catch of the day, which was Red Snapper, a favorite of mine, which came with two sides ($26). When served, it was three fillets, so the whole eatable parts of the fish, topped with a Cajun spice mixture and a horseradish sauce. This is a to-die-for or last meal item. The fish was perfectly cooked and my side of collards were as mammy has done for eons: flavorful with pork and a perfect complement to my catch of the day. And the fried okra was great and I paid the $.50 for ranch dressing, as fried okra SHOULD be so complemented. Wife does not eat sea food, so she was, initially, confronted with the challenge of finding a dish without seafood in it. She did. There were a number of options, like pasta with Andouille sausage ($21) which is listed as with shrimp, but they omitted the shrimp for her. She also spied blackened meatloaf and some other items for the next visit. The place is busy and the wait staff is hustling as fast as the kitchen can get orders out. The kitchen looks so small, but they are a blur of motion cooking and plating. Kudos to the kitchen and servers. Our server was Sophie and she was excellent. There are beverages on a separate menu, mostly wine, beer and hard cider, with some non-alcohol items also available. We both had hard cider at $6 a can. Draft beer was available at $7 a glass. We will definitely return, even give lunch a try. I will most likely answer the siren call for five stars, which is certainly in the cards. See for yourselves.

Parking is easy too, which immediately lowers my stress level. Big parking lot, easy in and out, no drama. Normally, I'm a total creature of habit here. I usually order one of their incredible bánh mì sandwiches because that in-house baked baguette absolutely steals the show. Crispy outside, soft inside, and the perfect ratio of bread to filling. And of course, I almost always pair it with one of their dangerously strong Vietnamese iced coffees because they are rocket fuel in the best possible way. But this last visit, I actually veered away from my regular order and tried the beef short ribs over rice, and wow -- it absolutely did not disappoint. The short ribs were tender, flavorful, rich, and incredibly satisfying. When the plate first came out, I honestly thought the portion looked a little small, but clearly my eyes were bigger than my stomach because by the end of the meal, it was actually the perfect amount of food. Filling without making me feel miserable afterward, which honestly is a rare gift. I still stand by their garlic noodles, summer rolls with peanut sauce, and smoothies too. The pineapple and passion fruit smoothies are especially fantastic. What I really appreciate about Lula's is that it feels approachable. Whether you already know Vietnamese food well or you're just starting to explore it, it's a welcoming place to branch out and try something new. The staff is friendly, service is fast, portions are thoughtful and generous, and the value is excellent. Honestly, if I lived closer to this side of town, I'd probably eat here constantly. Charlotte, get curious about food. There's a whole world waiting for you out there, so get out there and eat your way through it.

I am NOT joking... 42 hours of vomiting and come to find out it was from the rotten, slimy shrimp from Chop't, Arboretum.I should have known better, when there were ZERO customers in the restaurant at Lunch hour on a Friday and 8 employees standing around with nothing to do. I was told by ER doctor it was a bacteria found in shellfish. I KNEW right away it was the smelly shrimp from Chop't. My gf assured me that shrimp "smells fishy". It was my first (and last) time eating shrimp. Never again. Worst part... the people working there said they knew something was wrong with the shrimp but served it anyway! read more

I just went to Chopt for the second time yesterday. Great salads with lots of variety, which I appreciate. This is kind of a given for a salad place, but they have a lot of vegetarian/vegan options. The staff was very friendly, especially Caesar. My main issue here, and the only reason I didn't go with five stars is the price. I understand that quality ingredients come at a cost, but really, $1.99 extra for avocado? That's fairly outrageous. I ended up going with a build your own salad using a combo of the siracha dressing and chimichurri ranch. I would definitely recommend it. read more

It was being skipped over and then treated like my frustration didn't matter. I've been there around 5 times in the last month, but after this experience, I will never return.
