This past summer I went to Raleigh for a little under two weeks. For dinner one night, I went to Chopt. Chopt was one of the best meals I had while I was in Raleigh. Chopt is a salad restaurant in Cameron Village. I think they have other locations as well but I went to the one in Cameron Village. I had been eating out for every meal for about a week now and so I wanted to eat something a little healthier for dinner. I went on yelp and saw that Chopt was near me and the food looked good so I decided to go there. I love salad wraps so I decided to get a salad wrap. I believe I got the Santa Fe Salad in a wrap. I made a few modifications to my wrap. The wrap was delicious and fresh! I absolutely loved it. The sweet and smoky chipotle vinaigrette was one of the best salad dressings I've ever had. I loved my wrap! The service was great as well! The line was long when I went to Chopt but I was served quickly. Overall, I absolutely love Chopt! It is a wonderful place to go to if you want a delicious and fresh salad. Every so often I remember how good my wrap was and I wish I lived closer to a Chopt. I am a Chopt regular at this location, coming at least once a week. If you come at lunch rush expect to wait but I assure you the line goes quickly. I came in occasionally around 3pm and there is hardly anyone in the store! At that time I like to enjoy my salad and do work. The salads are always fresh and I like that they are made in front of you! Note that some sides are extra but you are able to substitute on the "pre-constructed" ones listed on the board. A few times I have had bad customer service from on of the guys that checks you out. Yesterday he charged me over $12 for a salad I paid less than $9 the week before. He charged me for double avocado ($1.99 each). When I explained my concern he seemed upset I would correct him (I'm a grad student on a tight budget for heaven's sake!) I expressed my experience with the manager and she made up for it by giving me a free salad in the future. If you want a fresh (HUGE) salad for a quick lunch I would recommend giving Chopt a try. read more

I genuinely get excited to eat salad when I come here and let me tell you - that is a feat in itself. They have a fast casual way of dining and tons of salad options ranging from the typical Caesars and wedge salads, to the fun seasonal and regional salads with ingredients ranging from quinoa to tikka chicken to spicy peppers. There are a TON of options and ingredient combinations so you'll have a hard time getting bored with their salads. They typically serve each salad with a piece of bread, and you have the option to buy cookies or chips as well. My favorite is their tea and juice selection, which has this delicious mint lemonade that's to die for. Come here if you're in a rush to grab a healthy lunch or simply if you want to grab a bite with your girlfriends post-yoga. First time visiting today. Located in Cameron Village with a fun concept of chopping salad in front of you and tailoring to your wants. The employees were not very welcoming or friendly on this particular visit for me, but the salad is undeniably good. The menu consists of only salad, and they have kombucha, sparkling/mineral/regular water, lemonade, and sweet tea. Prices range from $7-$10 or so for a salad, but you get a hefty portion. I had the Santa Fe and it was $9.46. it was flavorful, filling and came with complimentary bread. Meat: One of my friends had the po'boy salad and the other had the spice Korea Town salad. Their totals were sligjtly higher than mine. They both have come to the restaurant before and this is one of their favorite places. Overall: I will likely come back here but I do think it's a bit overpriced. They were out of avocados. They have salad options but you can also pick your toppings. Service: The service is quite speedy, the ordering system is a bit strange since you shuffle between stations so definitely pay attention when you go to order. The staff is very nice and friendly. Ambiance: The location is nice, they have a funky mural of people surfing on veggies, its also clean and spacious inside. Food: The food was very delicious, especially the chicken soup. I had the Quinoa Bowl and Soup deal and it was honestly more than enough food. Price: The price is a bit high for the food, especially when you think about spending that kind of money on a salad. I spent $12.94 on a soup and salad combo. Although the price is high the food is tasty and if you enjoy salad/grain/noodle bowls this place is definitely a good spot to go. This was my first time at Chopt in any of its locations. But I'm not new to salad bars. Thus I've come to judge the quality of a salad restaurant like Chopt based on their topping options. And that's how I knew Chopt was IT! I created my own salad with mixed greens (which includes kale and cabbage and possibly spinach?), black beans, corn, cheese (mozzarella? I'm not even sure), egg whites, falafel ($1.99 extra), avocado ($1.99 extra) and the Mexican Caesar dressing!! To say that that salad was one of the best ones I've had in a long time would be an understatement! Absolutely delicious !! The service was meh-ok. The person serving me was slightly condescending but seeing as this is more of a "fast food" place than an establishment that absolutely needs to value customer service, I'll look past it. What's 3 min of that compared to getting an awesome salad. Of course my review is entirely based on MY personal experience since you or I could go in there tomorrow and not like our salads based on what we chose. I just lucked out that my first time I got a bomb salad. Plus, I've never had a salad that's so chopped up its easier to eat with a spoon than fork. That was neat and less messy. So my family and I were visiting from New York. After a few days of eating southern food we wanted something else. We were craving some light fresh salad. Actually our bodies craved it! We found this place on yelp and it said they closed in 19 minutes and it would take us 12 minutes to get there. We arrived at 9:57 and humbly asked if they were still open while secretly praying that we were not too late. Although they were about to close they waited on us. They were pleasant and patient as the three of us tried to decide on our order. They offered suggestions and let us try the various dressings. In addition my daughter is allergic to nuts and when we told them this they made sure that the station and utensils were clean before preparing her salad. This means the world to my daughter because unfortunately a lot of places are not receptive to my daughter's very serious allergy. We are thankful to them for being so accommodating considering they were closing. We appreciate them being so pleasant and want them to be recognized. Maybe my review is biased but I have been dying for Chop't to come to Raleigh for literally 3 years now, after I first had it in DC. This Chop't certainly lives up to the standards set at the original locations. They did a great job during their opening week, I actually ate here 3 times that week. They do NOT skimp on toppings for your salad by any means, you can tell because the servers are visibly making an effort not to spill your overflowing bowl to the chopping station. Their service and everything was clearly on point for opening week, but I certainly hope it stays that way. When I came here later, I did encounter a little bit of attitude from some of the workers, and several mistakes on the parts of the cashiers which made me a little nervous that service maybe en route to decline. That being said, I'll take poor service in exchange for the healthiest, tastiest, most convenient lunch option in the area. Don't be scared off by the prices, the salads are so huge that I can rarely finish one in one sitting, and they try to source as locally as possible. I have loved this place since I started getting my lunch in DC. Then I moved away and now they have come to NC. They have various different salads and drink options. There's always a rush during lunch but after it's not so bad. I usually order the Chicken Tinga with the Green Goddess dressing. It's heaven and I always get this salad. I want to suggest people go inside. I really want to. But if you're not interested in waiting 20-30 minutes for your salad at lunch time, you might be inclined to order for pickup. Chopt makes pretty good salads that cost a pretty good amount. In my experience, ordering pickup is risky. The last few times I've done so, I've had to wait for someone to help me, even though they like to say "no waiting, just walk up to the register!" Another time, I was told they were out of ingredients (in this case, shrimp), to which, the dish still cost $13+ dollars, even though I substituted it with falafel. Yeah, falafel doesn't cost that much. And how do you run out of shrimp at lunch time? My most recent and probably last time ordering pickup, was today. i waited again, but not long enough to complain about. However, the salad is pretty boring. I ordered dressing mixed in, and of course, there's literally no dressing. Lesson learned. Do not order for pickup. Not everything will go wrong, but something most likely will. I'd guess if you see them making your salad, they won't mess it up like they did mine. Now, time to enjoy this salad with no dressing... I get it: I walk in and see 30 people waiting in line which probably means you guys are working your asses of to get the orders filled properly and in a timely manner. Not an easy job. CHOPT did not live up to the hype...at all. Maybe I'm spoiled by Happy + Hale, but I anticipated CHOPT would be in the same league and it wasn't. If you are already shopping around Cameron Village, this might be an option. If you are considering making a special trip here and enduring the parking lot zoo, I would advise not to. This was my first time at a CHOPT. None of the employees offered an explanation on how to order, menu suggestions or alternative options, or a simple hello. On top of this - the salads were prepped at snails pace and several people had no idea where to stand and wait. It was awkward. A little direction would've helped. The salads were ehhh especially $12-14+. The ingredients were fresh, but limpy - do you know what I mean? Normally I give bonus points for charming outdoor patio seating, but this is just some tables arranged on the sidewalk - nothing special. They do have umbrellas. We are fortunate to have healthy fast-food options available around the triangle, but I'm not convinced CHOPT is the cream of the crop. Happy + Hale is still my fav. I would not return to CHOPT even if I were in the area because Tazza is just a stones throw away & they have a fantastic kale salad. read more

Service is quick and friendly, the staff always ready to give suggestions on combinations if you want to go off menu and build your own salad. Ingredients are fresh and tasty as well, and they definitely don't skimp on the scoops when adding them to your salad. Be sure to get a free piece of bread with your meal as well as it's quite tasty! The only small downside is that these salads can get pricey, especially when you're making your own. This has been my go-to salad spot at least once a week for 2+ years, but not anymore. The quality of food as well as the consistency has really gone downhill. They are always out of something on the salad bar, and the avocados are usually brown and mushy. Also, the fact that they don't chop the salads anymore is frustrating, considering their name is "Chopt." Aside from the food, many of the employees are rude and seem irritated with any small addition or subtraction of toppings. Customer service is certainly not their priority. With lots of options whatever your eating preferences or restrictions and featuring fresh food made to order, Chopt is a good choice if you want a healthy meal or if you need a restaurant that can offer lots of food flexibility. You can pick from their existing salad mixes or make your own combination of grains, proteins, vegetables, seasonings and more! A small selection of soups and sweet rounds out the menu. I think the concept is nice but when I was last there, either through the slightly disorganized ordering process or due to the very loud atmosphere, my order ended up being incorrect. Rather than leave work again and wait through the lunch rush I ate what I got; it was edible but not what I wanted, and at that price for a salad I'd really prefer to have received what I ordered (the order as printed on the receipt was correct, oddly enough, but not the salad itself). I can't say that I was in love with the California Steakhouse salad I got but it was well prepared and light in calories, the restaurant was clean and the staff was really friendly. Now for the bad. Man, I wanted to give Chopt 5 stars. Back when I lived in nyc, I loved Chopt. It was the healthiest and most convenient option near my apartment, and it never disappointed. The Chopt in Cameron Village kind of disappointed. The staff were great, but a few things left me underwhelmed. First, there was very little chicken in my salad. Traditionally, Chopt will chop the salad in front of you and you'd be able to see your ingredients and find comfort in knowing you're getting a lot. Apparently nowadays, everything is pre chopped (which is fine) but they give you "scoops" of your ingredients (eg, one scoop of tomatoes, one scoop of onions, one scoop of chopped chicken...etc). I probably had 1/4 or 1/5 of a chicken breast in my whole salad...so that was disappointing. 2) the menu got way smaller. If you wanted a salad, you were limited to 4 options. This isn't how I remember Chopt from my nyc days (which were only a year ago). 3) expensive as hell for what you get. As I said, my salad was lackin protein. Our bill came out to $23 for two salads....which just wasn't worth it. I'll say: the price of $10-$11 a bowl is standard (in nyc it was the same), but my salads have usually been meatier. All I could talk about during my lunch was how I felt like they skimped on my chicken given the price....so clearly it bugged me lol. that said, Chopt is a healthier option than, let's say, Village Draft House (I love VDH but it is a guilty pleasure). I'd go back to Chopt if I wanted to eat a healthy meal, but I'd probably ask for double meat. read more

I kept hearing about how awesome Chopt was and knew I needed to try it ASAP. I downloaded their online app which makes ordering and running in to pick up your meal super easy. I've ordered online three times and have only had to wait for my food once. If you order online you head right on over to the checkout and don't have to wait in line. The interior is bright and cheery and I love all of their tea selections. I wish you could select to purchase a drink when you are ordering through the app. My favorite salad so far has been the Texas Po' Boy. The Panko chicken and the Tex-Mex ranch are really delicious together. This one is heavy on the calories, but for me it was enough for two meals. I like the California Steakhouse salad, but the steak is more like pieces of roast beef than the tasty strips of beef they feature in the salad photos. The The California Goddess dressing that comes with it is pretty freaking awesome though. My least favorite salad has been the Palm Beach salad. I don't know, it just wasn't satisfying at all to me, maybe it was just a bit too healthy for it to be a full meal for me. Chopt has become my new go to lunch spot due to the array of salad options, not feeling totally horrible after shoving my face at lunch, and the convenience of ordering and paying on the app and just running in to pick up. read more

Unless I am starvin' like Marvin I can barely finish a whole takeout salad.
