    Simply delicious

Absolutely blown away by my experience here. On a trip last month to Amsterdam, my travel buddy told me he had heard from multiple people this spot was a must, so I secured a reservation immediately. This is chef's choice prix fixe menu done right. We opted for the 5-course menu that they serve only on weekends. The evening started with a big problem: my jetlagged self overslept a "nap" and woke up right at our reservation time...RUSHED up to get ready, calling the restaurant in a panic. Here in the U.S. I feel we would have had to kiss our reservation goodbye. However, the man who answered was so kind: chuckled, said no problem, and squeezed us in an hour later than our original time. I tremendously appreciated that consideration and gesture. That same energy was what we noticed immediately upon our arrival, and extended throughout our entire experience. A relaxed, non-stuffy setting...warm, friendly in every aspect. As for the food: every part of our meal was simply fantastic. Perfection. We opted for the wine pairings that went so well with our meal, and each dish was truly incredible. I really started getting full by the end of the meal. Throughout it, I saw produce that was so fresh and beautiful, I'd find myself staring in awe at the simplest things: at the white asparagus. At the pure redness of the absolutely perfect strawberries. The list goes on... Our server was so, so wonderful...the entire staff in fact. What's best, I've never in my life had such an enjoyable experience where they all truly made us feel welcomed...not once were we rushed. In fact, at the end they asked if we wanted anything else to elongate our meal. 3+ hours of divinity spent here at Choux. Hands down one of my most memorable culinary experiences. Ever.

Absolutely one of the most delicious restaurants! We were lucky enough to snag a table at a highly desirable restaurant with lots of reservation envy, so really glad we could squeeze one in. We did the chef's surprise tasting menu with wine pairings and we were floored by the entire experience. Each course was its own story giving us uniqueness and complexity from plate to plate. Absolutely a dining dream. Scallops were on point and the horseradish was a fabulous touch. The beet salad was a refreshing cleanser between courses. The venison was perfection, not gamey at all. Our server was a star as well, actually that's what her name translated to and she lived up to that. Loved how friendly and welcoming she was throughout the meal. Plus the ambiance is dreamy and cozy as well. What a beautiful backdrop to enjoying one of our best meals in Amsterdam.

Creative and delicious! Choux is a restaurant I would definitely eat at again when I am in Amsterdam. My husband and I opted to take a taxi from our hotel to Choux. As the taxi wound its way past the train station onto an industrial street that appeared somewhat abandoned, suddenly there was Choux. Don't let the location fool you--this restaurant was hopping! You will definitely need a reservation. Walking into Choux is like walking into a different world from the outside environs. The decor is modern, but there is also a rustic hint as various ingredients are displayed in pickling jars on shelves around the seating area. Choux offers a tasting menu--they have fresh ingredients and are making certain dishes that evening. Your choice is the number of courses you would like to enjoy. I made the mistake of not writing down the courses we had, but each one was beautiful and delicious. One caveat--pigeon was the protein for the meat course the evening we dined at Choux. We were willing to try it, but it turns out my husband and I don't like pigeon. I cannot blame the restaurant for something that is a matter of personal taste and, honestly, we didn't mind not eating most of one of the courses because the overall experience and meal was so phenomenal. The restaurant has some wines open on any given night, enabling you to enjoy a glass if a bottle is too much. My husband and I opted to try a couple of different glasses instead of ordering a bottle, which added to the fun of the evening. We have dined at a number of tasting menu restaurants in Amsterdam and in other countries. Choux was one of the best from start to finish. The restaurant is unpretentious and the cooking is creative and tasty. If you enjoy the surprise of a tasting menu meal, I highly recommend Choux!

Incredible meal. Creative, beautifully presented and delicious. A high end meal in an accessible room. Great natural wines. As a New Yorker, this had incredible value as well. A highlight, highly recommend.

Dined here in February and opted for the 5 course meal - loved that they sourced local in season ingredients with a strong focus on veggies. Creative dishes without being over the top. Portions were just enough to fill me up without feeling overwhelmed. Very reasonably priced for a tasting. Large enough space to accommodate small groups.

One spectacular dish from a spectacular 4-course dinner.

Choux is simply superb. Each dish in a set 4-6 course meal is unique, unusual, and utterly delicious. I rarely do thbut with Choux I'd say this is the must-go-to restaurant in Amsterdam.

5 stars from top to bottom. This restaurant created such a lovely and personable dining experience and the service was perfection. Our waiter was funny and charming, and great with the natural wines. Highly suggested for those visiting Amsterdam. We decided to try Choux on a Saturday night (packed house - but spaced out tables and the acoustics made it seem quieter). We were seated promptly and asked if we'd like to start with drinks. The menu here is odd, but definitely in a good way. Diners are given the main ingredients to each dish, but that's all. So you're given a glimpse of what you're getting into but not the whole picture. Basically if you're a picky eater or a bit skiddish, Choux isn't the place for you. We chose the 5 course wine paired menu (because why not?), which mixes both vegetarian and meat dishes. My least favourite dish was the squid. The texture was a little too firm and the flavours weren't incredible. My most favourite dish was the dessert. Holy moly that was the best dessert I've had in ages. Pistachio ice cream and blood orange with some sort of granola-y mixture. No idea what was in it but I was delighted. Stop by Choux for a nice evening meal with a date or maybe a small group of people. Not suggested for children. A+++ Choux, can't wait to visit again!

Can't express my love for this meal enough- certainly the best I had last year and perhaps one of the most memorable in my life! Everything extremely imaginative, thoughtfully presented, and delicious. It's a little off the path but still an easy walk and worthwhile. Great service, an excellent meal, and worth the price and trip! Hope to come back one day!

This was everything every reviewer said about it and more! An amazing and unique dining experience! This place is located on a quiet street behind the Double Tree Hilton and Starbucks. If you are walking there, you may question for a second that you are going the wrong way as it is in an out of the way spot. We came on a Wednesday night at 9 p.m. and we had a reservation. It was very busy! We chose to do the 7 course meal and it was a perfect serving size for each person and the courses were nicely spaced. It will be difficult to name every ingredient as there were so many and sometimes it was hard to understand exactly what the wait staff said in describing it due to the language difference. We really loved everything we had and we just did vegetarian dishes and some fish. If you are an adventurous eater and love a delicious, beautifully plated meal with lots of vegetarian choices, you will LOVE this place! We also loved our primary waitress who was just adorable!

The restaurant is multi-course menu establishment. I'm a vegetarian, which proved no challenge for their capable kitchen. The food was edible art in both appearance and taste. Well done.

And despite ALL of our meals in Amsterdam being excellent, this one may have been the best. We wanted to try Dutch food, not totally knowing what to expect and were blown away by the combination of flavors and textures we consumed. We started with the pickled herring which was served with onions and pickles- fresh yet bold! I'm still thinking about those little fishies weeks later. Then we each had the sampler-ish plates (I forget what it was called). Hers was the vegetarian version and mine was with sausage. There were 3 kinds of essentially mashed potatoes with veggies mixed in: 1 with spinach I think, 1 with carrots, and 1 with sauerkraut. Mine came with a delightfully rich gravy and my moms came with some kind of lighter yellow sauce (I think mustard based). We tried these same dishes at other Dutch restaurants during our stay, but nothing beat The Pantry. The service in this quaint and cozy spot was also excellent!

Portions are substantial and a very good value in a neighborhood where tourist-markups are the norm. They have a/c, but in order to feel it you'll need to sit closer to the back of the restaurant/near the kitchen, as there is only one wall unit back there, and they leave the front of the restaurant open to the elements (even in 98+ degree heat).

I found it browsing Yelp, and the name alone told me this was going to be a meat-forward kind of night. Fair warning if you're bringing anyone squeamish about restaurant names: The wife wasn't thrilled about it going in, though the food won her over fast. Getting there was its own small adventure. The place sits down a narrow alley, and our Uber couldn't get us all the way to it, which turned into a bit of a hike. That happened to us more than once in Amsterdam, using the exact address didn't always mean the driver could actually reach the door, so budget a few extra minutes if you're headed here. I normally default to steak, but the menu had a burger topped with pulled pork that promised more meat than a straight cut, and I couldn't pass it up. Delicious. Genuinely one of the best burgers I've had. But the wife's flat iron steak might have stolen the night. Flat iron is one of the most underrated cuts out there, and this kitchen proved it. She was still talking about that steak days after we got home, enough that I ended up buying flat irons from Costco just to chase it. The atmosphere is cool and a little edgy, dim lighting, a lot of character, and yes, some genuinely creepy decor scattered around, including an old doll that stares at you like it's judging your order. It ran loud, but not so loud we couldn't hold a conversation across the table. Service was good, just on European time rather than American time. Getting the check took a while, which threw us off at first, but that's the norm across the EU, not a knock on this place specifically. Pricey, but worth every bit of it. We'd go back without hesitation next time we're in Amsterdam.

They didn't quite communicate with each other about our need to split the check a specific way, but it worked out in the end. We enjoyed some cocktails and beer (ranging from 9.50 Euro to 12 Euro), as well as the Pork Belly and Pickles to start off (21.50 Euro for 300 grams). Tasty way to start the meal. The three of us shared our mains and enjoyed what we had. The Favorite Ribs (24.50 Euro) were flavorful; the L'Incroyable 300gr (Ribeye; 34.50 Euro) was good, but our least favorite of what we ordered; the Le Cannibale Royale 170gr (burger) was super tasty. We also enjoyed some frites (4.90 Euro) and some delicious Mac n Cheese (6.50 Euros). Good time and good food!
