I went to the No. 1 high end Asian Restaurant in town and was extremely disappointed. A friend suggested Thai Spice and I had some of the most delicious food I have ever had. I had a light meal of Bam Bam chicken and a bowl of chicken rice soup. Both were absolutely delicious. I finished them off with a cold Thai tea. I can't wait to go back with friends and have a family style meal. I ordered delivery because I was home sick and not up to driving. The deliverer was from the restaurant and it was prompt. This is one of our go to places for take out. They have so many delicious options, and you can't go wrong with either their sushi or their thai dishes. My favorite specialty rolls are the monkey junction roll, the thai spice roll, and the Hurricane roll (pictured). If you like spicy then you will not be disappointed. I found the 2X and 5X spice levels to be plenty spicy but you can go up to 20X. You may want to plan ahead as they get pretty busy and there is usually a lengthy wait for pick up or take out. read more

Our "Sushi Book Club" met here today for lunch. It is located on the frontage road off of Carolina Beach Road. This restaurant has an expansive menu, with a mix of Thai food and sushi. I chose a specialty roll called Hawaii. It consisted of tempura shrimp, kiwi, and a mango sauce. The serving was generous, and the kiwi and mango sauce offered a unique, sweet flair. I counterbalanced that with wasabi for a delicious flavor combination. On Saturday, the restaurant also gives you soup and vegetarian spring rolls with a sweet and sour sauce. The service was friendly, and, when they brought the check, mints were provided. I had unsweetened tea with lemon, but I spied wine bottles, so it's probably safe to say that you can enjoy a glass of wine with your meal. read more

I love Thai spice, I've been to a couple of other Thai restaurants and they don't compare. The food is very reasonable and yummy. It's about $12 bucks for a good amount of food for dinner I always get the pad ka pow and mild spice. The employees are always friendly , best Thai place in Wilmington in my opinion. read more

There are actually quite a few Thai places in Wilmington and I've pretty much tried all of them. By far I'm confident to say that Thai Spice is the best, at least with respect to Noodles. Their drunken noodle, pai Thai, pad see u and the like are consistently among the best in town! The dining environment and staff are very nice, too. One thing to keep in mind when you order is the degree of spicy-ness. On a scale of 0-10 (with "Thai spicy" being 10), I usually go for 1 or 2. I think a 5 would be considered really spicy and an 8 TOO spicy. Another thing is that unlike places like Asian Fusion Noodle House, which opens throughout the day, Thai Spice closes at 330 and reopens for dinner at 530. So don't come in at 4:30 with the expectation that it's open from 11:30-9:30. read more

Been here twice and the sushi chef was so generous every time ! Knowing that I love salmon sashimi so much, he would make me a salmon rose on the side of my usual Salmon on Fire roll. Their portion sizes are huge too and they are very generous with their thick sashimi cuts. I highly recommend coming for their weekend lunch specials. Everything comes with soup and spring roll. The sashimi lunch special does not disappoint ! You will definitely get full from it. Unless you're overly ambitious like me and over another speciality roll on top of it. They're also very accommodating with you when you're having a difficult time deciding between two dishes. The first time I came, I had a hard time deciding between the sushi and their curry. they ended up giving me a kid size curry (which was also a generous portion btw) and my roll. My husband and I have been here a few times before and it's always phenomenal whenever we've been. I happened to notice the other day that they have a big sign out front now that says the deliver, and that's all I needed to see to solve my week night dinner needs for the evening. We both ordered the Ginger Salmon, we've gotten it in the restaurant before and I was a little worried about how it would taste getting it delivered, and it not just coming straight out to your table, but it was still delicious. The salmon was cooked and seasoned perfectly. It was also a nice size portion, just as if you were eating in. My pic does not give this meal justice, it's sooo good. YUM. Finally got a chance to try this place. I ordered the green curry with chicken (medium spice) and spring roll appetizers (4) for take-out. I called from home, was told it will be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived at Thai Spice probably about 20 minutes later. My total was about $18. The gentleman who took care of my order was very nice and attentive. I was not waiting more than 10 seconds before he approached me. The container was very hot, so I was happy the timing was good. I picked up take-out from other places after the food was sitting too long and it got gross/cold/soggy. It is important to give correct pick-up times. The food was placed into 3 containers: the spring rolls, curry, and rice. I was happy that the presentation was still attempted even with take out. The rice was in that upside-down cup shape and not just thrown in the container. I appreciated that. The spice level was wonderful. When you order medium, you should taste the spice, especially at a Thai restaurant. I highly recommend this place. It is less well-known and harder to find than other restaurants in Wilmington, but it is definitely now my restaurant-of-choice for Thai food. read more

So I returned to Thai Spice for a friend's birthday dinner and instead of ordering one of their Thai dishes, I went with the highly recommended sushi. I'm updating my review to 4 stars (5 rating for their sushi, 3 for Thai). I was absolutely blown away at both the decadence and portion size of their sushi rolls. Great price for the amount of fish too. My previous order of green curry came out a little watery. Also for dinner pricing, the food portion was on the small side, which I found disappointing. We loved this place! Honestly, Id driven by this place dozens of times, and I never thought twice about it. On a hunch, my boyfriend and I went here for an 'early' dinner on a Saturday night. I'm so glad we got there at 6pm! We got one of the last 2 top tables, and from then on out, people just kept coming in! There were also several people coming in to get their to-go orders, so that's good to keep in mind. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. Our water glasses never got too low. The food was simply delicious. Flavorful, but not heavy or over-powering, like Thai food can sometimes be if it's not done correctly. The sushi roll I got not only looked amazing, but it tasted amazing. The fried shrimp added such a nice touch, and the toppings on the roll added an extra layer of flavor. Hidden on the side bend of the road, in the darkness, is Thai Spice. It is legitimately a hidden gem because you can easily miss it. The first time I came here, I got the green curry. The curry here is phenomenal. I really like how you can choose the level of spiciness, from 0-10 (or what they call their 'Thai High'). My friend got a relatively high level of spiciness and the waiter was kind enough to bring him a shot of milk or Thai Tea (something in that nature) to help with the spiciness. Although a small act of kindness, it is truly representative of their impeccable service. I came back here today for the second time and we chose to do family style since we had a large group. I recommend doing "Family Style" when you go to Thai restaurants and have a large party, because that way, you get to try so many different kinds of dishes and it ends up being cheaper when you split the price. Their fried rice is a little dry and the chicken was a little chewy. The Thai Chicken was good, but the sauce really drenched the chicken and I wish it still had a little crunch. But once again, I emphasize the DELICIOUSNESS OF THEIR CURRY. Our waitress was completely patient with us the entire time no matter how many times we asked for something. I definitely would recommend coming here, and it may very well be one of the best (if not the best) Thai spots in Wilmington! read more

The food was decent but our party of 3 (2 adults and 1 kid) took over 45 minutes to get food (after being seated; I dont consider waiting for a table against a restaurant score, unless it is empty and still takes time). It may have been an off night but that was our experience. Took so long a guy next to us was losing his mind and not taking the wait very well. Biggest pieces of sashimi I've ever had! I've never been more impressed with a meal in my life. The soup serving size was awesome, so was the size of the entree. Our server Anthony was on top of everything and one of the most helpful servers my husband and I have ever seen. We saw him helping other members of the staff throughout our meal while maintaining consistent check ups on us. He was a great worker and a great team member for this restaurant. It's refreshing to see a restaurant keeping amazing prices and making sure their patrons are well taken care of. I cannot stress enough how great of an experience we had! We loved everything we ordered! The Basil Fried Rice, Panang Curry w/Shrimp, Pad See U noodle dish w/ shrimp, and Spicy Shrimp Special Roll sushi. The portions are generous and full of flavor. My niece loved the Thai tea. I hear the take out is great too. But eating in was comfortable and a pleasant experience. Our waitress, Cat, was outstanding. I can't wait to return. read more

I'm a former Wilmington local now living in Nashville, but I go back about six times a year to visit family. I was looking for a nearby sushi place I found on Yelp. I saw this restaurant as I was approaching. Since the sushi place had fairly poor reviews, I decided to have some Thai food, instead. It was a good decision. I only had a single item - Thai Spice Chicken (item T3 on their menu). It was spectacular and went great with a couple Singha beers. I like my Thai food spicy, so that's how they made it. They even brought me a side of their homemade hot sauce to add if I wanted to. I was by myself and my bill was a little over $20, including the two beers. Very reasonable for the quality and the amount of food I got. I could only eat a little over half of it. The service was great. Even though it's in a small strip center which is usually a turn-off for me, they have made the most of it with the decor and low lighting levels. It's a nice place. When I go back to Wilmington for my next visit, I will go back to Thai Spice. This was one of the worst service I have EVER experienced dining out. We arrived when there was still open tables. They provided us two sets of silverware for three people dining. Our 4 year old was never asked if she wanted anything to drink. When the guy who seated us brought our drinks we asked for another water for our 4 year old. Our 4 year old said thank you as he slammed the glass on the table and walked away. The waitress finally came 15 minutes later and quickly took our order. The food then started coming out one plate at a time. Each plate was dropped off, but the dirty plates were never cleared off. In the course of the hour and a half we were there we only saw our waitress to take our order. Our drinks were empty and dirty plates lay on the table. The food was decent which is a shame because the service was terrible and that just ruined the entire meal. read more

Ordered from here last night - was excited to try it as it is close to my house. The stir fry dishes -garlic & pepper and vegetable medley with chicken were both "soupy" with way to much watery liquid in the container. This was not a sauce just the color of dirty dish water with no flavor. The bang bang shrimp appetizer was very good - shrimp not over cooked. The spring rolls had obviously been reheated more than once and were very dry and oily. Staff was polite. read more
