Dr. Igna is, hands down, THE best dentist ever! Every fear I've come to have about dentists and dental offices was not only discussed but soothed by this amazing woman on my first visit. She is one of the most kind, sincere, personable, down to earth and compassionate people I've ever met in the medical industry. She obviously prides herself in her work because her office is immaculate. The seating area is small but gorgeous. The rooms are clean and beautiful too. The most important part? She always explains what she's doing, as she's doing it. The only potential complaint I could see someone having is regarding the parking situation, but she validates so there's no excuse! I have been a Dr. Inga patient since 2011. Previously, I drove to Beverly Hills for my dental work because of the level of care and I was a dental chicken, having had several bad experiences in the SouthBay. After 15 years, I wanted to find a local dentist with the same level of care and compassion. I started looking for offices closest to my home and thought to try Dr. Igna in Hermosa Beach, 5mins from home. From the minute I walked in, I was greeted warmly and the office is beautiful. This reminded me of my Beverly Hills office. Dr. Inga asked about my dental history and informed me on the latest dental technologies and dental care maintenance. So, my first consultation was very thorough and painless!! I laughed all the way home and couldn't believe I found Beverly Hills level of care on my first try and just minutes from home. Too good to be true, right? Since, Dr. Inga has solved many problems for me, notably, one that I never thought to be related to dental care. I had suffered from headaches over last 10 years and had no previous history. I thought they were related to an early sports injury, but during a cleaning visit, she asked how I was doing. I told her about my headaches and that they always start in the back of my neck. She immediately gave me a curious look and began asking questions. After a few minutes, she informed me that I was grinding my teeth in my sleep and suggested I get fitted for a mouth guard. I agreed, and have not experienced a headache in 3 years. Yes, the rare and elusive 5 stars. I don't dole these out easily. First, let me say that I am so picky about my dentists. I'd been going to the same one since I was a kid and loved her, but when I moved to Hermosa, the schlep to the valley was too much for a dentist appointment. I tried a few dentists in the city, but wasn't pleased with anyone... ...and thats when I met Christi Igna DDS. Recommended by a coworker and right down the street on Hermosa Ave, I figured why not give her a try. Thank god I did. Her office is centrally located in Hermosa and easy to find. Its clean, organized and non-intimidating. All the staff is friendly and welcoming. Dr. Igna does the thorough cleaning herself, instead of letting a dental hygienist do it, and I appreciated the personal attention. She took care to make sure I was comfortable and let me know what procedure she was going to do before she did it, so there were no surprises. She's super knowledgeable and easy to trust. I'm super obsessive about my teeth (and who I trust them to), so believe me when I say you're in good hands here! read more

I called over a month ahead of time and the first thing I asked was, "Do you take my insurance?". They assured me that they did, so I booked an appointment. They sent me the new patient paperwork, called to confirm the appointment a few days ahead of time- all good. Then they called back and told me they actually do NOT take my insurance, and they are not sure who told me that they did. But they offered to let me pay cash if I want ($290+). I'm sure this was a mistake... but what a big one! They just wasted over a month of my time that could have been spent finding a dentist that would take my insurance, and now the pre-wedding cleaning I was planning on is probably not going to happen in time. I cannot thank you guys enough, hopefully this glowing 1-star review will show my deep appreciation for everything you've done for me. Maybe you will be able to correctly answer the question of "do you take ____ insurance?" correctly for other people, and not colossally screw them over? Never thought I'd be devastated over my dentist retiring but here I am! Dr. Igna was THE BEST dentist I ever had in my life. She was intentional and kind to every tooth. I always associated cleanings with anxiety and pain until I met Dr. Igna by chance when I lived in Hermosa. She pointed out my grinding problem and gave me a thorough assessment--I left with new awareness for my oral health. She also took great care to communicate with me during the entire session--I have sensitive gums and bad recession due to grinding, so I'm always nervous during cleanings. To my surprise and joy, cleanings were always pain free with Dr. Igna! I was so enthused I brought my husband to her practice, who also agreed -- she's the best dentist ever! I've been going to Dr. Igna's office in Hermosa for years and have always had a positive experience. I used to dread going to the dentist even for a cleaning, but I actually look forward to my appointments with the Dr. and her staff who are friendly and knowledgeable and seem happy to see me. I recently had a veneer completed and Dr. Igna always takes extra time to make sure everything is perfect. She also explains everything she is doing and why, while the procedure is going on. Her and her staff (especially Desi) are very competent and helpful, and they make going to the dentist a better experience. I recently moved to the area and went to Dr. Igna for a cleaning. She did an excellent job! She got rid of plaque that is hard to reach because my teeth are so tight. She also removed some remaining cement from my old permanent retainer. She spent extra time making sure my teeth were spotless and for no extra charge. I had ZERO pain during and after which is rare for me because I have sensitive teeth. She also took time to talk to me about recent studies that link oral hygiene to other areas of body like the heart. I had to go back to remove my sealant from one tooth and add a filling. I've had braces twice, teeth extracted and 3 implants, and this was the first time I didn't experience any pain when she stuck the needle in to numb my mouth. I was so relaxed I started to fall asleep while she was working. I recommend Dr. Igna especially for those who are reluctant to go to the dentist. read more

At first I was very happy with her. She obviously cares greatly about her work. It was a little weird how much she micro managed her staff but the results were good. Then I had a problem with one of the fillings she did, not a big deal, not sure what happened but not a big deal. At the check up where she confirmed there was a problem she got visibly frazzled. Couldn't remember what work had been done on what tooth, and was just clearly agitated. That agitation and an increase of dental work since I had been in her care made me want to get a second opinion before I continued. The second opinion agreed with what she had recommended so I scheduled an appointment back with Christi. She started canceling appointments on my for increasing silly reasons. I had a hole in my tooth for months because I thought she was going to fix it but then would cancel last minute on me. Ultimately she said she would no longer be the dentist for me nor my wife (who never had an issue with her) and I had to go somewhere else to get the hole fixed. I would expect that level of immaturity and inability to deal with something that doesn't go exactly how you like from a teenager, not a professional. Also she uses actual film negatives for x-rays instead of digital images, making sharing of information difficult. Films been obsolete for over a decade. read more

I rarely write reviews, but I feel it is important to write this one so that others do not make the same mistake that I did.... Dr. Igna was recommended to me by my coworkers who love her. From the beginning I had many minor issues, my initial appointment that lasted almost four hours, a sloppy cavity being filled that resulted in another 3 hour appointment trying to figure out the problem, etc. I kept going back, wanting to give it another chance. I went in to have 2 cavities filled. Before the appointment they asked me to pay my amount not covered by insurance, no problem. While I was in the middle of the procedure, Dr. Igna said "while I have my tools out, I'll just smooth out your two front teeth." I trusted her, so I said 'okay'....that was my mistake. I received a bill in the mail a week later for $75 dollars. First I called my insurance who said I had been billed for something that they rarely see. They weren't even quite sure what the procedure was...so I called the office. They kept me on hold because they couldn't find the info in my chart. They said they would have it available the next day. When I went in the following day, they said "I'm sorry, you actually owe $200, the bill was incorrect." I had many questions, including why they did not tell me the day of the appt my estimated cost, to which they had no answers. I find this to be very shady business. PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE....make sure you ASK about what is being done and what the costs are. read more

I have never had a worse experience at the dentist. I had a route canal, and instead of just sending me to the endodontist, she said she would try to remove as much of the decay as possible before sending me there. This meant an unnecessary EXTRA dentist visit as I would need to go to the endodontist anyways. Not knowing better, I let her go in, and not only was it extremely painful, but it used up a lot of my insurance coverage. This felt like a complete ploy to get more money out of me before sending me to the person who would actually fix my tooth. I have had a lot of dental work done, and have never been in such pain. It has been the only time that I ever needed to take painkillers to help afterwards, and I literally cried in my car. She also kept telling me to let the endodontist know that she left a layer of decay on the tooth on purpose, because she didn't want him to think she "did a shoddy job". I had another route canal done later, and her removal of some of the decay in no way made the first route canal cheaper or faster. It just used up my dental insurance, caused intense pain, and made that tooth take a lot longer to heal. Long story short, I would never go back to this dentist. She was horrible. read more

I cannot tell you how happy I am with Dr. Igna. I have been in L.A. a long time and never found a dentist that I liked. I went to Dr. Igna's office on recommendation of a friend, and she did not disappoint! Her office is small, with just her, the secretary, and 1 dental assistant. They run very close to on-time. Everyone in the office is really pleasant to deal with. The exam rooms are equipped with TVs (with cable) in the corner, and the first thing they do when you sit in the chair is hand you the remote. It was the first time I've ever had my teeth cleaned while watching "What not to Wear," but it definitely made the time go faster! :) The exam and cleaning themselves were simple and painless. Dr. Igna uses an ultrasonic cleaning system that means a lot less scraping... maybe the occasional sprinkle of water on your face, but otherwise the most comfortable dental cleaning I've ever had. I had to return for some fillings a few weeks later, and she was equally considerate and gentle with those. The location is beautiful, a block from the beach and a block from the Hermosa pier. They validate parking in the lot next to the Bank of America on the pier. I live pretty far from Hermosa, but it is worth the drive every time. If I ever leave L.A. I will only hope to find a dentist this good again!! read more

Dr. Igna and her staff are amazing. I have had such horrible experiences in the past with dentists not being able to get me completely numb, you can imagine how painful and terrifying going to the dentist was. But Dr. Igna took the time to listen to my fears and also took the time required for me to become completely numb before doing any work. I know it sounds simple and obvious, but she has been the only dentist who did that. It's quite a relief not to experience nerve pain while getting dental work done. I read the bad reviews and I'm sorry for those people, but I have been seeing Dr. Igna for years and have never had an experience like those. My bill and the expectations have always been explained to me at the front desk and if Dr. Igna discovers something she is concerned about while doing another procedure she explains it to me very clearly and asks for consent as well as making sure I understand what she thinks is the best plan for my dental care. We are always in accord before she does any procedure. And there have been times when I put off a procedure because I couldn't afford it. She never made me feel bad about saying "no" to a procedure. Dr. Igna has always conducted herself in a professional and compassionate manner and I constantly refer friends and family to her (OK and complete strangers too) she is amazing! read more

I have always been impressed with the quality of care I received at Dr. Igna's. I went to her for about 5 years and am picky about choosing my dentists. She is someone who I trusted with my teeth. She was very accurate with her cleanings and precise in what she did. She was on-time and prompt and was fun to talk to during the cleanings. She's a good dentist who is too busy to take new clients. After seeing Dr. Igna for an initial exam, I tried to schedule an appointment for a needed procedure--replace a temporary filling. A month later, she still hadn't been able to fit me in. When the temporary filling fell out (costing me $65 to replace), I complained to the receptionist that I needed an appointment for a permanent filling. Her response? Dr Igna is an excellent dentist, and I think what you want most from a dentist is someone that is great at what they do and go above and beyond for your health. I have read the other reviews and my take is appointment delays and waits are bound to happen anywhere where the doctor is taking their time and treating a patient..you wouldn't want someone to rush through your visit just so they can make time!! I have been going to Dr Igna since I was in middle school, which is over 14 years ago and she is the absolute best dentist around. You can trust her decisions, she is honest, thorough, and kind and she truly has worked some miracles on my teeth that had cavities and were in desperate need for fillings. My entire family has seen her, and she has taken time to get to know us and I trust her 100%. Her office is always spotless, dental equipment is always clean, her staff has changed over the years but there is a real team spirit in how courteous they treat each other and work together which just makes you feel good. I have had an exceptional experience with Dr. Igna's work and her entire staff. I rarely write reviews unless I get very exceptional service which brings me to recommend this office to anyone looking for a great dentist. Dr. Igna is incredibly diligent in all of the work that she does and it is a caring, kind and highly skilled dentist with reasonable prices. She was recommended to me by my brother who had gone to her for years and I now I am recommending her to friends. I had a very difficult experience with another dentist leaving a tool in my root canal and I had to find a new dentist to go through a very long repair procedure. It was overwhelming to get back in the dental chair after that experience but this office gave me faith again and left me with fantastic results! I love this dentist!! Best one I've ever been to. She is honest, thorough, and sweet. She lets you know everything that's going on including what she's about to do so that you are not caught off guard. She also informs you of all of your options and the possibilities and doesn't pressure you in to doing anything you dont want to do. She did a crown and veneer for me and I am extremely happy with her work. Also, her assistants and receptionist are great too! Her office is super nice - very clean, everything is new and modern, and flat screen tv's for you to watch while you are sitting in the chair. On top of that everything runs very smoothly. They were never behind the four times I was there, and everything runs as it should from check-in to the actual dental work to check-out. Highly recommend. read more

Dr. Igna is the best dentist. She doesn't just look at your teeth and leave the room. She actually talks to you about your teeth, addresses your concerns and gives tips and advice. It never seems like she is just trying to rush patients in and out. She's also very gentle.
