My nephew's car was towed there because of a flat tire. We thought we only needed the donut put on. After an inspection, Zach told us the actual condition of the tire. The right front tire was also bad. He was not pushing us but took the time to explain the danger that my nephew would encounter. We had a wait but he made sure that we had the car that day. This location has the worst customer service I made an appointment for 12:00 pm got there at 11:30 consider is a busy day , I was told it be about 2 hours came back to Check at 1:30 the car was not even move. Normally I do not ever leave reviews but I need to let people know not to go here! If I could give 0 stars I would. I came in for work on my starter they did the work. Replaced it. The starter they replaced failed. I was stranded had to take it elsewhere to get fixed would like to AT LEAST be compensated for a failed part. Not the labor or whatever at minimum failed part. Ask to talk to manager he berates me about how I should have brought it back there... I was stranded had no choice. Then when I ask for his supervisor he says contact corporate and hangs up. When I immediately call back bc I thought we got disconnected he refuses to get back on the phone with me. I fill out the form online as directed and it has been 14 days and I am still waiting for a response from corporate. I have emailed the address I have back twice and get no response or no help. Avoid this shop at all costs even when they screw up and you have proof from another mechanic with videos of the part being tested and failing. You have the part in your hands and bring it into the shop. They wont look at it. They will not admit they are wrong or that there is any fault on their end. Nor will they respond to you after they hang up and tell you to call corporate. Then you get no response. Avoid at all costs. I would have thought a big company would stand behind its work and its parts however that is not the case. Avoid at all costs UPDATE. Finally after this post they reached out to me. I rarely write reviews. I haven't written one in months. However, I had an appointment at this location. It was an afternoon appointment and usually care repair shops are slammed. This Pep Boys was no exception. I needed to get the oil pan cover tacked up on my car as it was dragging. The man who greeted me was kind, courteous and said up front, I'm not sure if it is reparable as these guards get a lot of abuse, but if you give me 20 minutes, we will see what wr can do for you. Within 15 minutes my car was back and fixed. I went to pay him, he said no, "you're good". It's rare to have such great customer service. I made an appointment with this location #1632 last week for this morning at 10. I even got a confirmation text from them last night. I walked in and told them I was here for my appointment and the bald dude with glasses said to me "yeah I can't help you my mechanic called out." As if I didn't have an appointment, I understand things happen but I said to him, "you could've at least given me a call of notification that my appointment needs to be rescheduled." Came in to this location to have my brake pads changed and my tires rotated about a month prior to a road trip up to North Carolina. The day before we left for the trip I changed my own oil, and as I was finishing up I noticed the brake fluid reservoir cap had been left off... I immediately called the Pepboys location and got sent to voicemail. I called 2 more times and finally got through to Miguel aka "Mickey", and he told me to bring the truck back in and they would "top off the fluid". I advised that the cap had been left off for a month, and the fluid, which attracts vapor, likely needed to be flushed to avoid rusting in the lines and vapor in the pistons. He said "ok bring it in and we'll flush it out". I advised that we were leaving at 5am the next day and would have to bring the truck back in when we got home. After the call, I checked out the rest of the vehicle to make sure everything else was ready and safe for the trip. The VERY FIRST LUG I check was not even finger tight... So after my tires were rotated, one of the techs must not have checked to make sure 1) the lugs were tight, and (2) never torqued the lugs to spec.... I drove for about a month with a loose lug nut and have no clue if there is any damage to my vehicle because of it. Thankfully we were not injured due to the negligence of this shop. We went on our trip, and came back and I dropped my truck off at the shop. I spoke with Mickey when we dropped the truck off and got quite a bit of attitude, with the typical "Customer states" attitude acting like it was my fault the brake fluid was not sealed properly. I dropped the truck off, and about 30 minutes later got a call that the "truck was ready". I picked it up and was told the brake fluid was completely flushed out. Interestingly, the fluid looked that exact same as when it was dropped off. As soon as I picked the truck off I noticed the brakes were very mushy and the truck would shake when braking. A few days laterI took the truck into a local mechanic and he drained the brake fluid and told me it was full of water. And it was obvious it had not been flushed out. Obviously this Pepboys location can't be trusted, and lied to my face and wasted several hours of my time with driving back and forth and dropping my truck off. It's very upsetting that these chain repair shops can't be trusted to do basic work, basic safety checks, or keep their word. I used to recommend Pepboys all the time to family and friends, and will no longer be doing so in the future. Very disappointing. read more

This my second bad experience at this location. Dropped off my vehicle on Saturday morning (9:30ish), I did not have an appointment, but I asked the attendant if he thought it could be handled and he (gentleman named Jacob) said that they should. I explained that all I needed was a check engine reset as I knew the problem was a speed sensor that goes off every time I drive my Crosstrek a little too hard. I have custom wheels causing the issue. So I left my vehicle and waited for the phone call. After no one calling, I called in at around 2:30 pm and Ernesto stated that they had not been able to get to the vehicle. I told him that they can keep it overnight if they were going to get to work on it the next day. He said that he would check the status and that someone would call me back. No phone call. Sunday came around and again no phone call. I called at 1:30 pm and asked for an update and I asked if they will be able to help me. Talked to Ernesto again and now he stated that they had fallen behind, and again told me to wait for the call. They close at 4 pm on Sunday, so at 3:30 pm I went to the place and asked for my vehicle back. After a short struggle to figure out where my package had been stashed, my keys were returned, no regrets or apologies from Ernesto. This place seems disorganized, terribly managed and their employees project the stress they are under. I'd advise you to go elsewhere. Because if this is how scheduling or customers are handled... I can only imagine the attention to detail they give anything else. read more

Very slow. I dropped my car off at 8:40 and my appointment was at 9am, they didn't touch my car till 4:30 and were bad with updating me. Front desk worker was weird to me and my friend when we went in. Messed up my car and said we had to pay for the problem that was cause because they didn't fix that part on the receipt. Also had my car in a handicap spot and I'm not handicap and when I said what happens if I get a ticket they said they weren't paying for it. Over charges so much as well. Will not be returning and now have to go to a whole different shop to get re get my car fixed! :( :( read more

Ernesto was rude, condescending, and argumentative. He told me I was wrong and didn't know what I was talking about several times during drop off and pickup. He called me names and yelled at me. He charged me over $130 more than the final price I was given before I picked up (he said the guy who gave me the final price was wrong too). Some guy came from the shop and altered the price but it was still over $40 more than the price I was told. Ernesto made fun of me when I knew my plate number saying "oh look she does know something" but told me I was stupid when I didn't know my exact mileage. He tried to speak to my husband rather than me, because obviously he thinks women don't know anything and called my husband boss and sir but call me miss. Had my tires replaced and picked up my vehicle at the end of the day. My tire sensor has been on since I picked up my car. I called them to get this fixed. They tried to tell me the sensor needs replaced. There was nothing wrong before I took it in. I know their techs get a percentage of sales and try to add repairs that don't need done. I will never go back to a pep boys. And our well established company will never take their trucks there either . I took my vehicle to the Pepboy's Riverview location on 10119 Mcmullen Rd to have 2 new tires replaced on the front of my 2014 Optima due to one of them constantly going flat. My appt was at 3pm. Ready time 6pm. I called twice throughout the day to check on my vehicle. Told it moved to 7pm. I called again and was told it would not be ready until the next day. All of this without any notification of pending issues. The next morning, I pick my vehicle up and the job I requested was not completed. Instead of my front tires being replaced. They replaced the 2 rear tires. Was told they rotated them after installation. Showed pictures of old tires prior to drop off. There explanation was rears were worst condition, so they changed them without notification leaving me with the same issue I came in with. Notwithstanding the car was there a week earlier for slow leak in front and rear tires. they found a nail in one rear tire repaired it and no issue with the front tires. No indication of extreme wear on rear tires either. Without consulting me they replaced wrong tires. Explained to me they did their job correctly and that I should not have a complaint. Even after accepting to purchase 2 new tires. Now they are not available, and I will need to come back the next day. Very poor customer Service, very little concern for the customer, The second issue with them. Personally, I would not recommend this store and will never use them again....Oh yes another item.....told my brakes and rotors need service. Funny they were just serviced and replaced at Kia a month earlier. I noticed the same issue in a couple of other post. Suggesting this service. Seems to be a standard to get more money. I went for an oil change and was told my brake pads/rotors needed he call me and tell me my I need new rear brake pads, but it's not an emergency but needs to be done and it's a little over $500 or so to get it done, which obviously is a lot (I GUESS THEY THOUGHT I"VE NEVER HAD BRAKE PADS DONE BEFORE, THAT OR IM STUPID..). They call back and when they were done with the oil change, and NOW I'm days away from the pads wearing through and making contact with metal and asked what price would be better for me to do it. At this point, I've completely lost trust with the tech/sales team because I'm being hustled and told two different things. WHY was it not an emergency when it was $500, and now it IS an emergency and you can come down on the price? I don't like being told different things, and I don't like not being given the right price the FIRST time. Don't try to make me feel like you're doing me a favor, Pep Boys. I pick up the vehicle and the sales rep offers me a credit card so it's nothing out of pocket. It's not about the money. I called Pep Boys after finding a screw in my tire. They told me they didn't have any appointments available, but if I dropped it off they would squeeze me in today. Shortly after leaving they called to let me know the screw didn't penetrate and they didn't need to repair the tire. I can't believe how honest they were. I pulled into this location after I discovered my flat tire at an establishment in the same plaza. When I walked in and explained my dilemma, I was asked if I had an appointment....I said "no, my tire literally just went from 45 to 10 psi in 30 seconds". The response I got was "I can put some air in it for you, but I won't be able to do anything else". The gentleman then began to put air in my flat and while doing so, noticed that the tire was damaged beyond repair. He stood up and stated, "I'm not even going to put any more air in it, you need to have it replaced". He pointed to other establishments nearby and proceeded to leave me in the pouring rain with a tire at 13 psi. New location. Came in for an oil change and tire rotation. Service was good, since I have over 75,000 miles on my car I made sure I got the HIGH MILEAGE oil. It is a bit pricey here compare to a Tires Plus or a 10 Minute Oil Change station. I checked their tires they had in store and it seem a little too expensive for unnamed brand. The people are nice. I would not bring my vehicle here for anything other than possibly a routine oil change. Our experience at this location is they do not know enough to know when to tell the customer they do not have the knowledge/ability to do the job. We brought a car to them for a headlight replacement, thinking that is a simple job that should not require us to take the car to the dealership. I honestly do not know if it should have been a straightforward, simple job or not. What I do know is the Pep Boys people did not know how to do the job and they botched it badly. Now my car is sitting at the dealership in Tampa waiting for parts to replace/repair due to the inept job performed two year ago by Pep Boys. I am driving a rental car for 4 days while my car is waiting to be repaired. Seriously guys, please at least know enough about your profession to know when to admit to the customer that that they should take their vehicle to the dealership and why. I can say that regardless of the industry, more damage is done by well-intentioned, low knowledge people, attempting to do what they should not be attempting to do. They were very polite so at least they were nice while they screwed me. When I got home I noticed they did not rotate the tires. I have no idea if they even changed the oil, but will check today. This was my first visit to this location since we moved and I was treated in a very professional way by Scott the Service manager. Scott found out that I had a nail in my tire and a tire belt that was failing causing vibration. Unfortunately I could not get a single replacement tire for my car because the tire is not being made anymore. Because I had road hazard as well a low millage Scott was able to prorate my old tires for new ones at a price I felt was most fair. Another place might have taken advantage of me but Scott I feel has built a reputation in doing the proper thing for the customer. His staff of techs were most experienced. I had previously been here with my daughter's car and had a good experience. Yesterday I stopped by with my car to get an oil change and was told it would be a couple of hours...but we have appointments available for tomorrow. I elected to take a noon appointment for today. I arrived a few minutes early. Here it is 1:03 and my car is still sitting in the lot....so much for making an appointment. This will be my last visit here. I live nearby and could have easily returned at a later time had I been given the option. Like most people I have a full plate too...sitting in a service waiting room is not a good use of my time. UPDATE: Now 2:07 and I'm in my car and the work is completed. I updated the rating from 1 star to 3 stars. For two reasons, 1. The work quality as far as I can tell is good and 2. My car battery died on a Friday evening when I was leaving work at 5pm. I had visions of not being able to drive all weekend or having to get my car towed all over town. It just so happens I work across the street from this location and they are thankfully open until 7pm! I was able to get a jump with enough juice to get over to them, they were open and got my car right in so I did t even have to shut off the engine. I waited maybe fifteen minutes. They have an extremely clean lobby and my Total bill was approximately $140 our the door. Their system automatically offers discounts direct from the manufacturer so they had originally quoted me $160-$180 it was a bit less.
