I went to visit Dr Yang for an initial visit in march of this year. Im going to try and temper what I write, but the bottom line is that I do not trust him one bit and would never recommend him to anyone. Below are the facts of what went down. Feel free to make your own conclusions. 1. The receptionist was great and very nice. She is the only reason this place isn't getting a one star review. 2. My former dentist was someone in Santa Monica that I have been going to for over ten years. I decided to finally find someone local. 3. Dr Yang told me I had periodontal disease and needed a deep cleaning. This shocked me because I never had any swelling or bleeding of the gums. And my previous dentist always complemented me on the health of my teeth and gums. 3. I told Dr. Yang I wanted to wait a bit, but he really applied the pressure and asked me why I didn't want to do it. He basically implied my previous dentist was incompetent. The high pressure sales tactic was really annoying and also a bit surprising. I've never encountered a dentist who pressured me like this. 4. Dr Yang also asked if I would consider getting braces. Another question that shocked me because I do not have crooked teeth nor do I have an overbite. Also, I'm over 50 years old. Why on earth would I want braces at this point in my life? 5. Even though I was very skeptical, I went ahead and scheduled the cleaning. Fast forward a few weeks and I have now moved to Redondo Beach. So I cancelled my appointment with Dr yang and found a local dentist in the South Bay. I went for a visit today and the dentist told me I had amazingly healthy gums and teeth. She even check the depth of my pockets and they were all 2 and 3. Dr.Yang on the other hand, somehow found my pockets to be 7 and 6 in some areas. WTH??? I can't help but think that Dr Yang was fraudulently trying to induce me to sign up for treatments the I didn't need. Just the thought of him trying to get me to do a root planing on my healthy gums really pisses me off. So please beware if you are visiting Dr Yang for the first time and he tries forcefully pressure you into doing certain procedures. I don't trust him one bit. read more

Dr . Yang Dentist very professional and explained in very detail how he was going to do the dental work on the teeth. He answered every question even when asked twice. I completely understood how my dental work was going to be managed. Jaime and the secretary very kind. Secretary(sorry I don't remember her name) explained the cost & how much insurance covers. Jaime is the tech definitely knows her work with the teeth. I was with my previous dentist for many years, went faithfully: good people but unfortunately didn't do the best care for my teeth. Dr. Yang has been my dentist since Dr. Noe retired and Dr. Yang took over his practice. Dr. Yang is an expert and I would not trust another dentist with my teeth. Originally, I lived closer to Downey, but moved 45 minutes away & still prefer to keep Dr. Yang because I trust him and value the work he does. He is very personable and professional. He takes time to explain what needs to be done and makes sure I understand and asks me if I have any questions. He is very reassuring and puts me at ease. I am very grateful he manages to keep me pain-free while he works away on my teeth, doing what he has to do to keep them healthy and me happy. He keeps my teeth in perfect condition and I respect and value his work. His prices are reasonable and he goes above and beyond to make sure his work is perfect. To those that complain about not knowing their own insurance coverage details and blaming the dentist office, shame on you. It's more your fault not knowing your OWN insurance details, and to blame the service provider for doing their job is just petty. I go to dr. Yang and so does my wife and we will continue to go even with the distance between us as you'll find it hard to find a better one. If you drop your service due to your own incompetence, good luck finding one that's as good. If you find one doing less or charging less don't wonder why something wasn't taken care of earlier later when it turns up. Another successful check up. New technology with X-ray equipment - No more cardboard with sharp edge's in your mouth Yay! It is all computerized so Dr. Yang can explain on TV screen in front of you after he takes pictures with a mini camera. No more X-ray negatives. Of course there's no more round spit bowl which is a health law now. I miss that retro look. I guess Nemo will have to find another way home to the ocean. read more

As a girl growing up in Newport Beach, I went for my regular checkups at Dr. Smiley's office in Corona del Mar. (What a great name for a dentist, right?!) It was then that I formed the opinion in my mind of what it should feel like to go to a dentist; warm, friendly with a homey atmosphere and beach decor where it feels like family. Well now, a few years later since I've moved to Los Angeles, imagine my surprise at finding just such a place right here in Downey! When walking into the office (that looks like a little house), the decor in the waiting room takes me back to my youth with the beachy accents, pictures and furnishings. Gayle offers a warm and friendly greeting and Jamie is the sweetest dental assistant. I swear, I don't remember laughing so much at the dentist's office before (and no, there was no laughing gas being administered at the time). But Jamie is always so fun and funny and all of the staff just have a sunny outlook on life which makes going to the dentist an experience I actually look forward to. I have to say, Jamie has an intuitive knack for making sure one is comfortable at all times during any procedures, plus she did an amazing job of taking my xrays. Normally, the cardboard holding the films scratches the inside of my mouth or gags me, but every time when Jamie takes the xrays, it is over in minutes, done right the first time, and with no discomfort whatsoever. Amazing! This dental office recently changed ownership. Dr. James Noe was the dentist for many years and he recently handed the reins over to Dr. Christian Yang. I received the notice in the mail about 6 months ago so when I went in yesterday, I was looking forward to meeting the new dentist who was worthy to fill Dr. Noe's shoes. I have to say, Dr. Noe did an excellent job of selecting his replacement. Dr. Yang was professional and knowledgeable and was able to boil down technical dental jargon into words I could understand. This put me at ease. Not to mention, after the results of my xrays came back and he told me that I have 2 cavities forming, I expected him to tell me they would have to be filled right away. Instead, he explained that they were only on the enamel and were not close enough to penetrating to the dentin level of the teeth so we would just watch them for now. No need to fill them right now? Wow! This shocked me. What dentist would pass up a chance to make more money on the spot? I realized then and there that Dr. Yang was not in it for the quick buck but that he cares for his patients like his own family, that it is a long-term relationship, and his focus is on keeping each person's oral hygiene in top condition. I'm looking forward to going to Dr. Yang for many years to come. read more

I've held my tongue about my experience here until I was given a bill. I have never been asked to pay any remaining balances after my insurance was applied for a routine check up and cleaning, until now. I was looking to for a dentist closer to home and decided to give this office a try as it was about time for my semi annual check up. What a mistake as this place will nickel and dime you and try to up sell services. This office needs to do a better job of verifying insurance coverage to make sure clients avoid having to pay unnecessary out of pocket expenses. When I called to inquire about the remaining balance, they said its bc my insurance only allows x-rays once a year. Had they told me to wait another month, I could have avoided this charge, which they would have been able to verify with my insurance before excepting me as a new patient. Sorry, but this office lost out on my future business all over a marginal charge that they wanted to enforce vs the actual amount they collected from my insurance and could have continue to do so had they cared to keep me as a customer. They could have forgiven the remaining balance since it was due in part to their neglect to verify insurance coverage. read more

Dr Yang is my mother's dentist. He is very kind, compassionate, patient, and takes the time to answer all of your dental concerns. Dr Yang has the gentle touch which is of utmost importance for my 78-year old mother. My mother can be rather uncooperative if she dislikes her dentist , which is why I had to find a new dentist . I found Dr Yang via Google search for dentists in our neighborhood. Dr Yang's fees are reasonable which is great because we pay cash. He does not double book patients so you can go right to the dental chair to begin the dental procedure without having to wait an additional 40 minutes or more as with my mother's previous dentist. Dr Yang respects your time and schedule. I highly recommend Dr Yang to anyone who needs a good, competent, patient, and masterfully skilled dentist. read more

Update: We just received a bill for $57 for our check up. This was supposed to be 100% covered by insurance but since the receptionist didn't do her homework to make sure we qualified, we had to pay some out of pocket expenses! We were only a few weeks away from using our 100% coverage. She could have alerted us to that and we could have waited. We urge people not to go here unless you want to pay a premium for old school equipment that is semi-clean. read more
