I've been coming to Mila since 2014 to get my Brazilian Blowout, about once every 4 -5 months. I had my most recent blow-out on 6/27/20. Mila did her usual fantastic job. My hair is naturally frizzy, a bit on the coarse side. After Mila does the Brazilian Blowout, it is straight with lots of shine, very glossy. I love it! Just so you know, the Brazilian Blowout gradually washes out over time. Mine lasts five months. The wash-out is very gradual; I get some soft frizz only in the fifth month. But here's what I really love about Brazilian Blowout: your hair is straight, but it has shine and volume. Especially after your first wash at home, your volume comes back, but NONE of the frizz. This type of straightening is worth every penny, and Mila will not fail you. For something this expensive, you want a stylist who knows what she is doing, and Mila is THE BEST. As for covid 19 precautions, I was very impressed with the measures Mila and others in the salon are taking, in accordance with the rules established by San Mateo County. Mila took my temperature before I set foot inside. No one was allowed in the salon, unless you had an appointment. I filled out a very short questionnaire that inquired if I was experiencing any symptoms currently or in the past few days. The questionnaire asked for my cell number and the date and time of my arrival. Everyone inside was wearing masks and gloves. All the stations were six feet apart, at minimum (I think there were only six stations in the entire space, three on each side of the salon. So that's a lot of distance). You have to wear the kind of mask that goes around your ears, not around the back of your head. The salon has fresh masks for you, in case you did not bring your own. Mila opened a new plastic drape from its package and put it on me (a drape is that poncho-like covering that you wear whenever you get a haircut). She guided me to the hair washing station; I was not within six feet of anyone while walking through the salon. There is a floor-to-ceiling plexiglass barrier between washing stations, as it was not possible to space the washing stations six feet apart, because of the permanent location of the sink basins (well, not quite floor-to-ceiling, but the solid, transparent barrier looked eight feet high). Mila wore gloves as she handled bottles of product. Mila disinfected her station's chair (the one I would sit in) with a spray and wiped it down. I wore a mask throughout my entire 90-minute appointment and so did everyone else (Brazilian Blowout typically takes 90 to 120 minutes). Mila and I did not talk to each other during our appointment, which, in my opinion, is just as important as wearing masks when social distance is not possible (I believe talking, or not, is completely voluntary and each patron should discuss it with his/her stylist. Other patrons were talking to their stylists. But Mila and I elected not to do that). My mask actually stayed on the whole time, it was actually not hard for Mila to work around it! read more

She described my hair as worn out and "overprocessed" by the looks of it although I just have a very thin hair that breaks easily.. and since my hair already was in such a condition I would have thought it should have been treated gently but instead shampooing, cutting and styling were all delivered roughly and I think my hair got in worse condition than it was before.. she even used super hot hair straightener without much conditioning which is the worst ever idea for my hair! Only solution she gave me to keep my hair in better condition was to "not use ponytails".. how am I supposed to exercise or do anything with long hair if I don't tie it? Regarding a cut: she listens to what you want and then cuts and styles to a flattering fit for your face.
