I've been to two or three optometrists and Dr. Davis is by far my favorite. She's great at finding your right prescription and not over prescribing. I find that she does very holistic examinations and gives great advice. She knew I had high cholesterol and gave me a sample of vitamins to help get rid of the cholesterol in my eye. Dr. Davis also told me that I was building scar tissue because of UV sun exposure and recommended that I diligently wear sunglasses with UV protection; prolonged exposure could lead to blindness. She even asked if I had enough contacts because being a new mom I wouldn't be able to wear my glasses for long without the baby pulling them off---she really does offer a personalized experience. I agree with the previous posts about there not being a lot of frame selection. I've never had any issues with out-of-pocket costs. If you ask what your expense will be before you go into the appointment you'll know what you're getting yourself into. They key is to make sure your insurance is accepted. Her staff have always been helpful and straightforward and I've never once felt misled or cheated. Dr. Davis is amazing, but her employees are absolutely rude. Young man working behind glasses counter is condescending and patronizing. Took it upon himself to give advice and determine that "100 dollars is not worth" complaining about. If you buy glasses here that are not correct and/or don't work he stated that, "It doesn't matter. If you ordered them and 5 minutes after you ordered them you don't want them we will not give you a refund." Continued to patronize the customers. Went on to call me a "moron" and an "idiot" because I couldn't "understand" that it was a waste of time to ask about glasses that didn't work. Also, stated that it was not the optometrist's problem if "your eyes don't adjust to the glasses." Final bizarre straw was he then went on to say that I was "harassing the employees" and after I asked to speak to Dr. Davis he went on to say, "She doesn't give a sh*t." This seems odd to me. She seems so caring and supportive in the eye exam. After I asked him if he was serious about how rude he was he then made it a point to say that he would call the police. Such a vile tactic. Overall, if Dr. Davis didn't maintain such a poor employee, I would continue to be a customer, but as he so childishly told me, "We don't need you as a customer." read more

Terrible!!! Do not go there unless you enjoy mediocre and overpriced service. Not to mention a sub-standard selection of frames. It's such a long story...but in short. Ask questions because the Doctor does quicky-exams and doesn't seem like she cares much about anything ( I've gone to many, many optometrist before, and she was BARELY CAPABLE). The front desk is rude, inept and slow. Their prices are ridiculous, and the frames look like they are out of a 70's horror film. Do not go here if you are looking for efficient service. There are so many better options right around the corner....good luck! and be thankful you read this, I saved you from a terribly frustrating and pedestrian experience. Shame on them!!! Dr Davis was wonderful. I would give her 5 stars but her husband(the male at front) is a real jerk. I had my entire family get exams and glasses there and still out of pocket over $600.... The male was very pushy and very rude. Prices are so high and frame selection is crappy. He is obnoxious and very rigid on prices and doesn't understand the meaning of customer service. My review for Dr. Christine Davis at Envision Eyeworks is long overdue. Dr. Davis has been my optometrist for five years now and even though I moved from San Diego to Los Angeles, I refuse to find a new optometrist. Each time I have an appointment, the visit is excellent from beginning to end. In my last appointment, I was running late and called Troy, who was at the front desk for my Saturday appointment. Instead of rescheduling me for another day, Troy accommodated me and squeezed me into an appointment the same day. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by Troy and quickly changed out of my contacts and into my eye glasses prior to my eye exam with Dr. Davis. Dr. Davis is one of the nicest and most personable people you will ever meet. She conducted the entire eye exam with ease and answered all my questions. We always have great conversation throughout the exam, which makes the visit pleasant. After the exam, she provided me with a new pair of contacts and made sure they fit well and were the correct prescription. In addition, I inquired about getting new eye glasses and Troy was very informative about what type of glasses to look for. Dr. Davis and her entire staff, including Troy and Martha, are very knowledgeable, organized and always provide superior service. They care about their patients and I always have an enjoyable visit. The Doctor was Ok. I shouldn't even say ok after she called me obese and offered me her weight loss program. I thought I was there for and eye exam?! It's all about business trying to take your money one way or another. The front desk "help" is rude and has very poor manners. One: the front guy with the glasses told the other older front lady not I show me the brand name frames because they cost too much. I don't know what he assumed in his little brain. Two: the older lady accused my kids and I of taking a frame! She literally ran after us and stopped us for that. I had asked for the prescription so I could buy them some where else because I didn't like their frames that they had there because they were UGLY and because they don't have a lot of variety for kids. Helloooooo lady what makes you think I wanted to steal them?! So I went back and followed her and she said "Nevermind I found them you just misplaced them" I gave her the dirtiest look ever. I had no words I was ANGRY and walked away before I went off on her. You don't go around accusing people because you assumed. I will never again will go there. Problem solved. :-) read more

I visited Dr. Davis' office in Chula Vista. The male receptionist was rude and did not help. After I was seen by the Dr. I was told how much everything was going to be, over $300. When I said forget it, he then tells me I wouldn't be able to see any other Dr. for the rest of the year through my insurance, something he did not mention before the exam. A few months after my exam I opened up a new pair of contacts and one of them was defective. When I called to ask how I could replace the defective one I was told I'd have to buy a box of 6 for $50. The prices are outrageous and they do not have good costumer service. read more

This is my first review ever, I have to let you all know about the horrible customer service this place has. The receptionists (Martha and the other male) are rude and do not even acknowledge once you pay your fees. They do not explain how the procedure works, they just want to schedule the appointment so you can not be seen by another Dr. The Dr. is not accessible, if you need to talk to her about what she prescribed you have to schedule an appointment and you are charged again even if you only have a question regarding your prescription. I know I will be telling my friends and family not to go there ever. DO NOT GO HERE!....1st of all, Im a nurse & I do understand medical terminology & process, but the front desk (Marta) is a F MORON, uneducated, & very incompitent not to mention I cannot understand half of what she was saying over the phone & thats is why i want to speak w the doctor.. I have repeatedly told her that I need to speak w the Dr personally regarding my contacts & prev visit, but I never got any follow up. Then she put a wrong claim to my insurance. It was a very big mess. This lady is sending a bad to reputation to the practise. If I cannot speak w the doctor on the phone, why should i even bother returning to this office. I have reported this clinic to the BBB & to my insurance. I was so disappointed w my service that I have told my family & friends never to go to this place.. I dont think that there should even be a STAR, but just bec I think Dr Davis was an OK doctor on my initial visit, I will give it just 1 star. Dr. Davis was thorough with my exam, even giving me a progress evaluation to make sure my contacts were the right strength and fit for me. The office is clean and the equipment is state of the art. The staff is nice and knowledgable and Dr. Davis was able to answer my questions and have me seeing in HIGH DEFINITION again!!! I am SO PLEASED with my experience! read more

Dr. Christine Davis is knowledgable and professional! She and her staff are beyond courteous and helpful. The receptionist gave me a courtesy call to remind me of my appointment and once there, the man gave me a 20% discount on my frames without me having to ask. He also offered to readjust the glasses I was wearing for free. I will have my new glasses in LESS than a week. Fabulous! read more

Lied to and cheated are the words I would use to describe my experience at this office. I came into her office for a normal eye exam. Everything seemed normal, you take the same exams you would at Wal Mart. I was suggested a new brand of contact lens and was told I would receive a free trial pair. When the exam was finished I was led into reception to cover my bill. Contact-less, I was near blind and feeling helpless. Near sighted people can relate to this feeling I am sure. The receptionist starting throwing out all these numbers of cost and fees, which seemingly had no origin. I felt ambushed. I was then told that in order to receive the trial pair I had to purchase 4 Boxes! I then told the reception that I didn't need the contacts and a prescription would suffice. i was then told I wouldn't be able to get a prescription without purchasing the contacts. After a pressure sales pitch which included a rebate of $50 I agreed ( Upon receiving my contacts it turns out the the rebate is only $30). Then i was charged for a contact fitting fee, which I have never paid at any other eye doctor and not notified of. I walked away spending twice as much as I expected. I would never go back to this office and would suggest you go elsewhere. read more

Why didn't I listen to the previous reviewer? Absolutely horrible experience! First of all Dr Davis was nice but her staff on the other hand was absolutely UNPROFESSIONAL! Outrageous prices and hidden exam fees, almost paid over $500 for no-name glasses and generic contacts WITH vision insurance! The gentleman working the front was so rude and said I was bombarding him when I asked for a break down of what I'm paying for. I was the only customer at the time! Other vision centers I've been too always showed the prices of the eye exams, different lenses, and frames and showed the break down of what your insurance will cover, but at this place they just tell you what you owe and expect you to walk out the door with no idea what you paid for! I have never been treated with such disrespect and rudeness. I plead you not to go to this place, it's a rip off!!! No customer service what so ever! Will report them to the BBB! read more

Dr. Davis is nice HOWEVER, they are ridiculously over priced for glasses that are not even name brand. I ended up paying an arm and a leg for a pair of children's glasses AND I have really good insurance. Not only did they over charge me for a pair of so-so glasses for my daughter who is only 8, but they recommended the wrong size. It hasn't even been a year yet and they are too small and too tight. They should have never let us walk out with glasses that were not sized properly. They kept insisting it was okay and I kept thinking to myself, these do look a little snug, but what do I know?? I'm not an eye specialist. Not to mention the fact that the guy who apparently is her husband is like a pushy car salesman. He kept trying to get me to purchase a pair of prescription sunglasses for myself when I didn't need it. I don't even wear glasses on a regular basis, just for reading. I don't even wear them then either...why would I need prescription sunglasses? Her husband should just stay at home and fix stuff around the house or mow the lawn instead of running the business for her. read more

Dr Davis is a very sweet and knowledgable but her staff especially the man that works in the counter selling the glasses is so rude and obnoxious. I also had an issue and I asked to speak with Dr Davis because I wanted to complain about him and he said she was not going to return my call and that I could take my business elsewhere that he and she did not care. After trying again to speak with her another lady answers phone and clarifies me that he is actualy her husband. Well I would of never thought she would have such a rude and mean husband. I feel sorry for Dr Davis. I just took my business elsewhere. I now go to Dr. Helfon Hanono in Imperial Beach. They are very nice there and knowledgable and dont pressure you to buy glasses and dont get all rude like at Dr Davis. I feel bad because Dr Davis is so sweet lady. I doubt she will ever fire her own husband so I just go elsewhere. Very bad service here. Do not recomend. Not worth your time if you going to deal with this type of person the man with the glasses. He is the only guy there so you will for sure know who it is. =-( read more
