While shopping around the King street, I stopped here for dessert. I ordered a hot green tea and a piece of Opera cake. It was the most delicious opera cake I've ever had. Also, it wasn't very sweet at all. I wanted to go back and have it one more time and also try other pastries but unfortunately the weather suddenly turned very cold to walk there from the hotel right before flying back home.

It seems obvious that Charleston would have a few places like this, but I can't recall having found a chocolate shop I liked. This place had a mouthwatering pastry display, and the mousse cake I got was as indulgent as it looked. The various packaged chocolate bars looked worthwhile, and they offered drinking chocolate as well. Perhaps on a cooler day I'll try that.

This is our most favorite place to indulge. So many delicately delicious French desserts. However, today we found the most yummy caramel pecan tart. Basically, the French version of pecan pie, but better. Toasted pecans with caramel sauce, topped with cream, and dark chocolate. Hopefully they'll make a larger version for the upcoming holidays.

I DIED AND WENT TO HEAVEN. This place is decadent and yummy and even more yummy. This place offers pastries and chocolates galore. Everything is made in house and the options are not lacking. I indulged in a 72% cacao chocolate and an eclair and the other person in my party got the apple tart. Everything was delicious but we favored the chocolate over the pastries. In addition to the multitude of sweets they also offer coffee and gifts.

This is a hidden gem in downtown Charleston. I wouldn't have found it if I didn't do some research before our visit as the store is a little hard to find. I am happy we stopped by as the macaroons I got were the most delicate I've ever had. I wish I would have gotten more but at this point we've already been to several dessert shops. I was starting to get sugared out lol. I would like to take one of the classes if we come back to Charleston.

If there's one thing I could never get enough of, it's donuts. Particularly this one! You might think this place is only for chocolates, but don't sit out on the pastries! The French donuts from here came highly rated from a friend and when I traveled to Charleston, it became one of my must-haves. They make extremely small batches so be prepared to be there early or you may or get one! I had to come back more than one day before I finally scored one. There was a lot of built up anticipation for it to deliver, and it did. This babe was phenomenal. Cinnamon sugar on the outside, ooey gooey icing on top, and some otherworldly deliciousness piped in throughout on the inside made this by far the best donut I found in Charleston. Covid protocols are in place so only one customer/group is allowed in the store at a time. Service staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient so the line moves quickly.

These chocolates melt right off in your mouth, you can tell they are quality chocolates! The flavors are also very strong and distinct-- my favorite was the one with praline. Not only that, the chocolates look beautiful and they have a huge selection of unique flavors to choose from. Such a cute little shop, definitely check it out if you are in charleston!

Walking in, there's a big display case full of beautiful chocolate candies. Reminded me of when I was a child and my granddaddy would take me to the Godiva store downtown to pick out some chocolates. These at Christophe's are extra fancy tho. They're hand painted! Well some of them are. A lot of the others are shaped like cute things. I got my friend a shark made of chocolate. It was hollow but the cutest thing was that it was filled with chocolate fish inside the chocolate shark! That's so appropriate for summer. My friend loves sharks and she loved this gift!!! Also, their coffee is pretty good, but they don't have many options for flavored coffees and lattes like I usually opt for. However what they do have usually hits the spot. They also sell deli sandwiches. I get the salami and Swiss sandwich. They heat it up for me in the kitchen. It is always delicious. And it's always followed by chocolate, which is the best part!

We arrived for dinner with our 2-year-old. The tone was set immediately by our server, who was visibly annoyed when I didn't respond to his greeting fast enough because I was tending to my toddler. Rather than reading the situation with any empathy, he sharply said "Hi, miss" in a way that made it clear he expected immediate attention. Not a great start. Things only went downhill from there. My husband had to briefly step away to take a work call, and instead of accommodating the situation in any reasonable way, the server dropped water and bluntly said he'd return "when your husband is back"--effectively refusing to engage with me at all. Trying to make the best of it, I decided to feed my child first. After waiting quite a while with no assistance, I had to flag someone down--who turned out to be the manager. What followed was honestly the most appalling part of the evening. I asked if they could simply warm up my child's food. Not only did she refuse, she told me I could not feed my child in the restaurant. No alternatives offered. No attempt at accommodation. No offer for a kid friendly food item, or no offer to feed her in the hotel lobby. Her "solution" was that I should leave the restaurant and go find some outdoor space nearby to feed my toddler. To make matters worse, she added that "service will start at 6:15 sharp," essentially implying I should figure it out and be back on their timeline. The complete lack of empathy, flexibility, or basic hospitality was astonishing. I have never encountered such dismissive and hostile behavior toward a family with a young child--especially at a supposedly high-end establishment. Mind you we have been to plenty of restaurants including 3 Michelin stars. If you're dining with a child--or frankly, if you expect to be treated with basic respect--I would strongly recommend going elsewhere.
