Unfortunately we had really high hopes for this place mostly because we noticed All You Can Eat Taco Bar on the website but apparently the websitr was not correct/up to date so we were left with other options. The waffle fries were delicious, wraps were average and a little pricey, and service was fair (even in the off season). Just got back from this restaurant for the third time. It is close to where we live and like the convenience of going there. This was the last time though. When we arrived we where told we needed to wait 5 to 10 mins for a seat. After 15 mins we where seated in a room with 10 open tables (not sure why we needed to wait). About another 15 mins went by and 2 other tables where seated and served drinks and still no one waited on us. No one ever did so we left. The other times that we have been the food is only mediocre for bar food at best. read more

CRAP service! We had made reservations for at least 16 people for dinner a week prior to dining there. They managed to get the tables together, that's about it. While waiting for our group to arrive, we had drinks outside...we should've gone directly to the Tiki Bar to get our drinks, that woman knew what she was doing!...our "waitress" however, probably couldn't velcro her own shoes. When we sat to eat, we had 2 waitresses (they decided it took 2 to wait on us). One ROCKED IT, the other couldn't velcro her own shoe. Our 1/2 of the group/table had to deal with our appetizers being put in front of us (with a "who's is it?!?" call from the same waitress who took our order) then our meal being placed in front of us not 15 seconds later. My 5 year old daughter not only got a very cold ("made fresh") pizza, but it included something we didn't order....a dead fly between the pizza and plate it was served on. Now...I would've sent it back, but I didn't want to wait until midnight for my kid to get her food! Not to mention my son only got half of what he ordered.... After our "lovely" experience with dinner, we stuck around for drinks. All I can say is...you better have cleavage to get a drink inside...no matter how busy or slow they are! If you want to sit and have a drink and look at the lake... Go to their Tiki Bar...Debbie ROCKS!!!! She's the only one that knows what "good service" is!!!! read more

This place has such potential but the service SUCKS! And I wrote that in capital letters on purpose. You literally have to stare a waitress down and even if you make eye contact you're lucky if they will stop at your table. Come on! We boat on the lake and wish there were better options than this. I guess it's Waypoint every time! As a side note: I'm writing this on a Sunday afternoon as I've been sitting at an outside table for over 15 minutes without one of the three servers currently working even acknowledging us! The Madison lakes present a very limited selection for dining on the water, especially if you come by boat. I've been to Christy's three times, but have eaten there only twice. Why didn't I eat three out of three times? The last time we were there, we waited 20 minutes in the gnat infested outdoor seating (and this is after we consulted a waitress) without even acknowledgment from a server. We ended up getting back in the boat and heading to another restaurant. Christy's food is decent - it's bar food. It's not the best I've had, but it's slightly above par for bar food. The food being decent is where the praise stops. If you're coming from the water, bring plenty of a rope and fenders. Christy's pier is the WORST pier on any of the Madison lakes. They have ZERO cleats to type up to and tires are sparse. Most of the boat parking is parallel to the shoreline, so your boat gets hit by incoming waves on the broadside as it bangs against the pier. The outdoor seating is composed of a few picnic tables, 5 or 6 six round stone tables with stone stools, an outdoor bar, and some wood bar seating overlooking the lake. Comfort is subpar. Be prepared to endure gnats and mosquitos, as Chisty's does not employ any citronella candles or propane mosquito traps. Lastly, and most certainly the worst, is Christy's wait staff. All three times I've visited, the wait staff has been the shining disappointment of the evening. Sure, they are nice people, but they suffer from being disorganized and slow. Extremely slow! Twice, I've sat for 20 minutes while watching multiple servers pass by without even an acknowledgement that someone would be with us soon. When we finally flagged down a server, they told us they didn't know "who's section" we were seated in. I will not visit Christy's again. For food on the water, I'll stick to Mariner's Inn or Nauti-Gal - both restaurants have a proper pier (protected from waves, floating, soft rub rails, and plenty of cleats to tie off to) and good waitstaff, as well as having good food. read more

Love going here during the summer. Nice bar outside and great people and boat watching. Went here for dinner last week and it was just Meh. Food was bland an uninspired. What the waitress offered as the special was not what was delivered. After we asked, she still didn't know what was included with the dinner. Walleye sandwich was just OK. Service was on the slow side too; one server for the entire 2 floors. The lady tried hard, so she earned a good tip. The kitchen and management could do a lot better. Probably will not go here again for dinner. Too bad because we do like the place overall. read more

Enjoyed a beautiful day on the patio last Sunday listening to the Blue Olives (they're great!) and sipping beer. Ordered the nacho's and was fully disappointed-a somewhat small pile of flavorless corn tortillas and minimal cheese, chicken, peppers, and a clump of black olives. It appeared to have been placed briefly under a hot broiler as the top was charred and any buried shredded cheese was unmelted. The result was a very dry dish that required multiple cups of salsa to provide flavor and moisture. I was actually quite surprised at how good the fish fry was. I had some great hashbrowns with it and my wife really enjoyed the salad that accompanied the meal. If you're a craft beer lover like myself, you'll be disappointed in their beer selection, but Christy's is worth a visit solely for their fish fry. read more

One star because I couldn't give them no stars. Definitely eat here if you NEVER want to see food. Our reservation was at 6:45...we didn't see food until 8:10. Our waitress came to the table 5 times to tell us the food was coming. 3 other tables who came after us were served but not us. The manager told us there was trouble in the kitchen but other people were eating but not us. We were served FREE drinks that were not removed from our bill. I refused to pay, manager threatened to call the police and I agreed that she should. She said we didn't have a reservation which we did - I guess in her mind you can treat people with no reservation worse than those with a reservation. At the end.....she finally took the drinks and additional money off the bill. But, WE WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN. EVER, EVER, EVER. read more

Great spot! Food is really great, not sure why I love the hot ham and cheese so much, but it's great. Nachos are awesome as well, but it's really the burgers that are as good as you can find anywhere. The buffalo chicken wrap is a surprise winner as well. Our server was wonderful, but the manager was a disaster. It took us an hour and a half to get our food. The assistant manager and server apologized profusely and offered us a free round of drinks and a small discount on the bill. The manager brought us the bill and not only was it not even slightly comped, she had charged us for the "free" drinks. When we explained that the bill was too high, she said, "you know what; I'm just going to call the police. I'm not dealing with this." She was yelling and being incredibly rude. She refused to listen and was extremely aggressive. When the assistant manager and server explained everything the bill situation was finally taken care of. We are two retired people who eat out twice a week and always looking for new places to try. Christys was recommended so we decided to try last night ( Friday . September 28 , 2012 ) . We always sit at the bar for two to three cocktails. There were three gentlemen talking as loud as if they were at a Green Bay game ! whay made it worse was the fellow behind the bar was twice as loud and he appeared to be management or an owner. We only had one drink and proceeded to dinner. The waitress was extremely pleasant but new to the game. Everything and we waited a while on a slow evening was brought at once. Also had an outside door in the dining room open and this with an outside temp in the 50"s. Extremely cold. We did ask for it to be shut and it was. Food was as advertised but if this is what your looking for in a nice pleasant eveing out it definltly is not for you. read more

My husband is in sales for a living. You are 18 miles from our house. He got so drunk today, and nobody cut him off or tried to make sure he got home safe. He was there for at least 4 hrs. It took him an hour and a half to get home! Can you cut people off? Maybe try please. I also manage a restaurant so please be more aware of who your letting leave. This place is good only for the outdoor atmosphere. Their online menu does not correspond to their actual menu, buy they don't seem to see this as a problem. I requested my favorite beer: "Oh, we're out of that." Then, my second favorite: "We're out of that too." As a vegetarian, I had to order a black bean burger, which was burned, as was the bun. I asked for a dark or spicy mustard. No, they just have the mainstream basics. Combine this with extremely mediocre service. I will never eat there again. read more

I have been to Christy's quite a few times over the years and have never had a very good meal; however, last night's meal was a disaster! It started with the bartender getting our drink order wrong, One member of our party received a different potato than ordered, 1 had a different salad dressing than ordered and I had the worst fish fry EVER. It could have been good if the breading wasn't soggy on one piece and excessively crispy with holes in it (looked exactly like a funnel cake!). The baked potato tasted dry and leftover. The one high point was a waitress (first night on the job) that was very friendly and actually cared about our poor experience. Christy's is back on my list of places to avoid. read more

So I know Christy's is a Madison tradition with those lovely views of Lake Waubesa. But this place is a one-track pony... location, location, location. This is a family-owned bar/restaurant and the owners know they have a captive audience. The beer is cold and the food is average, but the service is atrocious. On a recent beautiful Saturday afternoon, there were only two servers for the outside seating area. There's no host, so we (4 adults and 1 kid) sat at a picnic table and proceeded to wait at least 10 minutes to no avail. We eventually went inside to order drinks and lunch. At no time during our visit did a server ever approach our table. I'd certainly be inclined to write off this awful experience to a bad day or poor staffing, but unfortunately this is more the rule rather than exception. One really weird thing is the Friday Fish Fry that features a special menu available ONLY inside, this isn't communicated very well; so you'll grab a table outside, wait to order only to learn you can only order from the pizza/sandwich menu. read more

We tried the fish fry a few weeks ago after hearing great reviews from friends. We weren't disappointed. Everything was wonderful. Tonight we went back and our experience was the opposite. The lobster bisque was cold ( Apparently, they forgot to turn the burner on and we were the first to mention it. We were there at 8:00pm.). The fish was okay and the waffle fries were cold. My husband asked why we didn't get any bread. He was told that they ran out. We found that interesting since people who were seated after we were had bread. Not sure we need to go back. read more

Worst service ever. we arrived at 7 pm on a Friday night. Since it's on the lake, were not surprised there was a wait, but didn't really seem to be enoughpeople waiting for 1-1/2 hour wait. We sat on the deck with a couple of drinks, and enjoyed that. At the 1-1/2 hour mark, went in to see how much longer and were shocked to see the mostly empty dining area in the bar. Maybe the upstairs dining was busy? Nope- one table of 4 waiting to be served, and 2 large tables of people who had finished eating and were doing their party speeches. We think they just forgot us. Brief wait for the waitress.10 minutes later got our salads for 2 of us, soup for 2 (husband wanted cole slaw, but they were out). Soup was good. Salad was very small, with a huge carrot 'coin' and cucumber slice. italian dressing was blah, bleu cheese dressing had no bleu cheese chunks. 30 minutes later, caught the attention of our oblivious waitress to check on the status of our order, and her comment was "didn't they tell you it would be an hour wait?" Wouldn't that be the waitress' job? After another 20minutes, and the 1 hour mark, i went to find a manager. Bartender blew me off, so I went to find the host,who apologized, said it was coming out now, and said they "were just catching up". From what? The bar area dining was almost empty, and we were still one of two 4 person tables up in the big dining area. 5 minutes later, with no waitress, no food, we left. We will not be back. Maybe the food is good, can't comment on that, but the aggravation is not worth it. read more

Took a group of family there. My sister had been there and ordered a salad on fish fry night. Should have been my first clue. My broiled fish was like a wet warm paper napkin and the people who ordered fried said it was too much batter, hard on the out side and mushy on the inside. I could not eat my broiled mush so my sister in law gave me part of her fried fish. It was greasy but got the taste of my fish out of my mouth. The soup was late and cold. The service was the worst I've experienced! Our waitress was confused the whole time we were there. We know because we were watching her and trying to get her attention. The food came cold and wrong. I'm pretty sure the burgers came colder than the salads did. The "garden fresh salad" for my daughter came with whole baby carrots and yellow slices of cucumbers. Also it didn't smell right. The beer selection leaves a lot to be desired and the waitress couldn't remember what 7 beers they had on tap. My daughter ordered a lemonade and the waitress brought a pink tinted water. She said it's just water but a little residual cranberry juice was left over from something, not from us. We never got the lemonade. When we finally got the bill, we were billed for food we ordered but never received. The waitress came back from fixing it, she brought the bill for a different table. I chased her down and let her know and she brought us the correct bill finally. Well, turns out we were charged for the wrong bill and our bill after looking at our cc statement. It's really terrible when you take your family out for dinner and the food was so bad that the kids couldn't eat much and want to stop somewhere because they're hungry! I'll be going back one more time to get this bill fixed and that's it! read more

Do not take your family here unless you like to watch drunks urinating off the pier. On the other hand if you are a drunk, it's probably a fun place to be.
