I was seriously craving carne asada fries and there wasn't anything close in Irvine so chronic tacos seemed like the next best option. The portion is very generous but not as authentic tasting. It's pricier than other Mexican places that have carne asada fries but it's much closer. They had a new taco with potatoes but I definitely had to try it. I was a regular costumer of Chronic tacos, because my kids liked the food from this establishment. However this last time, I had such a bad service that I probably won't go there ever again. I order 3 of their bowls . 2 with shrimp and one with chicken. I asked for 1 chicken, and 1 shrimp with guacamole. The guy said it cost extra for the guacamole.And I told him that it was fine, and that I was aware of it. He proceed to get a spoonful of guacamole and put in the chicken bowl, but for the shrimp one he just put whatever was leftover from the spoon,which was very little without refilling the spoon and proceed to put covers in both. I thought " well , I guess he didn't hear me right and thought it was just for the chicken bowl. But when I went to pay, they charged me for 2 servings of guacamole. I asked the guy at the cashier if he was charging for 2 , because he really put on one of the bowls and almost nothing in the second bowl. He replied and I quote what he said " well that is not my problem, and you could always ask for more and pay extra for more. " I tried to explain to him that the guy only took one spoon full and put in the chicken bowl and not to the shrimp one, and he just shook the spoon with whatever was let over from the spoon. Again he replied " Mam, that is not my problem !" he didn't bother to open the bowl to check if indeed there was any guacamole or offer to put more. the clerk had a really bad attitude and a very poor customer service. I would even be Ok to pay extra $1.50 or whatever they charge for guacamole, but I cannot stand the impoliteness and rudeness , and I can't believe that is how they treat a regular customer. Well EX Customer! Honestly speaking you can find a lot of other good mexican places and Chronic Tacos is not the only one. Besides other mexican places they cook the food right when you order it whereas Chronic Tacos they had their meat, beans and rices, beans and all there other condiments seating there God knows for how long and with their back door open and flies flying around ! The food is served in great portions and always fresh and delicious. The manager helped us cash out and had an amazing customer service! Whenever I go to Chronic Tacos I usually get the breakfast burrito. The breakfast burrito is the ultimate hungover food to get! Their regular sized burrito is sure to get you stuffed. The food is also customizable so you can tell the staff asks you what you want and don't want on your food. Although haven't tried their taco's, my boyfriend enjoy's their tacos especially during Taco Tuesday. He normally orders 4 tacos to get full. I have been here once in my life and the service and quality of the product has not made me want to come back. Is this a successful company? Of course! My boyfriend loves this place. It just so happened to be that my first and only experience with this brand was without him. I came in confused and not knowing what to get. Two men were behind the counter and didn't offer to provide me with suggestions or recommendations even though no one else was there. I was never asked if I needed help, if it was my first time here, or if I was familiar with the brand. It would have been nice to have received that kind of assistance. I left with my food and it was decent. I definitely prefer Chipotle more as they seem to be more patient, helpful, and understanding when you don't know exactly what you want and the product tastes great. read more

The ease of ordering through email, confirmations via email and phone, when my husband picked up the order, everything was ready on time, packed with extra plates, napkins and cutlery. Every attention to detail was payed. The food was amazing! My guests raved about the Carne Asada, Chicken & Carnitas. I will order again anytime I need catering. First visit and was impressed. My son and I ordered the chicken tacos which had a great flavor. Also my son liked that he could add whatever he wanted to the tacos and that they had a lot of chicken in them. Affordable and fast. Will def be coming back again. I live in Irvine and frequent Chronic Taco. (love the guacamole) I also am on the food committee at WHS for Grad Night. We try and find establishments that the kids request and this was one of them. The kids love their food and I was pleased that the owner was willing to work with our school to give us a generous donation. I recommend Chronic Tacos on a few levels. One- their food is so yummy and the portions are generous, I often split a meal with my daughter. It's also an efficient operation. There is usually a few people ahead of you but the wait is only a few minutes. Two-I like to frequent restaurants that give back to our community. read more

This location is smaller than others (only 3 small tables inside!?) but the food is still just as mouth watering. This place was founded on the backs of hard slacking skaters so no surprise that some of the employees might move a little slower. It hasn't affected the food quality. A decent spot with good burritos. Ended up ordering a carne asada burrito along with two chicken tacos. The burrito was big, and being that one gets to choose from three types of beans, then one can mix and match. In this case pinto beans, carne asada, rice, cilantro, onions, some guacamole (which might have been extra) and some pico de gallo was what was inside the burrito. The tacos were done on top of a big corn tortilla, and decided to go with basic onions, cilantro and pico de gallo. The burrito tasted really good, and if I were in the area I'd hit this place up again. The tacos were to go, since I was on my way to a concert at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater, but I gotta say they were good. I choose to make my food a combo, but the chips were too salty and not as fresh as I would have liked them to be.Also, they need to work on their salsa because the green salsa was a bit bland. This is probably the best place that I know of for carne asada fries in Orange County. I usually have to drive to San Diego for the my favorite place. I wish they offered queso fresco to be a little more legit but overall it's still really good. Friendly, staff, fast, fresh. This location is an absolute joke. There is a lady who colors her hair blonde with a ribbon that ties around her bun. She was extremely rude yelling out at my friend " hello hello, helllooooo" in an obnoxious voice. The line was long and wasn't moving so it was merely impossible to see the veggie/ cheese selection area. My friend had to lean up against the clear glass in order to get a glimpse. The lady tried asking me what I wanted on my burrito, but I told her I need to wait cause I can't see. In the time that I waited, she managed to touch another counter, bottles, refilling the condiments, grabbing a cleaning cloth to clean, touch a man on the back/sides multiple times all while wearing the SAME GLOVES!!!! I tried grilled shrimp tacos and chronic fries, also with grilled shrimp and lots of toppings and sauces. My orders were pleasantly spicy, though I do think their serving size for the fries was too large for both me and my roommate to finish successfully.
