My husband and I just moved to Menifee and we finally gave Chronic Taco a try even though it only has a 3 star rating, we wanted to try ourselves. We purchased a burrito to share and it was honestly really good. I think their rating is based off of online ordering as a person came in letting them know they missed adding guac. I can't give a no Stars review here. The opening manager today argued with me about what I ordered. No apology, just snarky and mad at me because she thought I wanted a burrito. I ordered one shrimp taco, Baja style. She had her hand on the corn taco tortillas and asked which I prefer. I said corn. I couldn't complete my order because she was hyper focused on training the new person and sauteing the shrimp for the order. I ordered two more tacos, carne asada, went to the register and this manager asked what I wanted on my burrito. I explained that I ordered one taco. I had my reward ready to go for a free taco and then she began telling me what I ordered and became irritated. I walked away from the food. Then I thought I would mention something to the manager. When I asked for the manager, I was given that look of "Yeah. You're in for it now" and said proudly, "I am the manager." Exchanged a few more words and I walked away. I went to. Rubio's and got the meal I was looking for and it was less expensive and yummy. Deleting my lame app. Never stepping foot in there again. I walk into chronic taco at 10:57 AM. The door was unlocked. Everybody was standing there talking. They looked at me when I walked in the door and said we're not open you have to leave? Really? That was so incredibly rude. They could say if you wanna wait, it will be open in just a couple minutes or Hi. Would've been a nice way to greet somebody. anyways, I'll never order from there. I'm gonna tell everybody not to order from there. They already have a shitty review all over yelp, so I guess it's just adds to it. They just don't have very good customer service. I loveeeeee chronic tacos! So freakin good! The Baja sauce aghhh so yum. The staff are always so friendly and kind and make our visits special when I bring my 1 year old. He always gets a smile, attention or even a sticker. They also don't mind our annoying orders... I like to get my kid a small burrito made like a quesadilla (it's easier for him to eat). And they make it with a smile. I've never had a bad experience, shocked by the bad reviews. It's worth giving them a try, and maybe a second chance if you had a bad experience. 2 employees working taking orders and also cooking food. Got the order wrong 3 times and then forgot the shrimp in the fryer and had to re-cook it. We are literally the only 2 customers in line and it's taken more than 20 minutes so far and haven't even made it to the cash register yet. Well here goes... something! First came here about a month ago, excited to find a Chronic Tacos near my new digs. As a youngin' I was a "regular" at the OG location in Newport, would ride my bike there, stop in late night after water polo practice, etc. Now, I wouldn't go as far as to say that Chronic is the best Mexican food around, but it's good, and with franchises/chains comes consistency, and we all know the old saying that "consistency is key". Unfortunately, the saying stops short at this location - WARNING: this is not the Chronic Tacos you might be familiar with. The menu is different, and you don't get to walk down the line, watching and discussing with them as they prepare your food. So back to my first trip. Week night, maybe 6pm, one other couple inside seated and already served, wrapping up in fact if I recall correctly. Walk in, bunch of high school aged kids, young, free, careless behind the counter, without regard for a soul in the world besides themselves, talking and laughing amongst themselves. Let's stop here - all good in the hood, just an observation, what would I expect anyways?! I wouldn't want to be working here as an adult, I get it, it's a job for the youth and I wouldn't expect anything else. Now time to speed things up a bit... noticed it was different than other Chronic's, was hungry and needed food, figured what the heck, different and bad aren't synonymous, order a veggie burrito, takes a lot longer than I would expect being that I was the only customer there (even if they may have had to-go orders?), took it home, sat down in hopes of enjoyment and fulfillment... disappointment strikes. The burrito was the shape of a square, and over 50% rice! To top it off, no guacamole. Due to my disappointment, I called and spoke with a young girl who was quite rude, and blatantly lied to me saying that the veggie burrito does not come with guacamole, and you must ask for it and pay extra. Frustrated, I triple checked their menu to make sure I wasn't crazy, or worse, wrong, and to no surprise, THE VEGGIE BURRITO COMES WITH GUACAMOLE AND FAJITA VEGGIES! Called back and asked to speak with the manager, Jean. When I asked Jean if the veggie burrito comes with guacamole, as the menu specifies, he said yeah, but you have to ask for it because of allergies. What?! I ordered the veggie burrito, the menu says it has guacamole, if I was allergic to guacamole I would request they omit it, am I right?! Crazy. Just crazy. That's like ordering a chicken burrito and they don't put the bird on it unless you specifically ask, "can I get the chicken burrito, with chicken? I'm not allergic to chicken so I am ordering the chicken". Sheesh. After a bit of back peddling and fumbling over his words, Jean was apologetic and kind enough to offer a burrito on the house as their shot at redemption. A month or so later, I called to take him up on his offer. Jean was awkward, but friendly enough and was true to his word. Honestly, I imagine he's in a tough situation, trying to manage a corporate business that probably doesn't pay employees a living wage and thus has to rely on very young adults who probably could care less. This time my burrito was made correctly, with guacamole, proportionate ingredients, and seasoned well. Burrito was still pretty damn square-ish, and not well wrapped. The entire time eating it was a nervous experience for fear that it would blow out at any moment. I appreciate Jean and his shot at redemption (thus the generous 3 stars in my opinion), but I fear my second experience was circumstantial based on Jean's involvement, and that if I were to go back, I would find there was no lasting change. read more

Honestly , there are a lot of places out here that have horrible food and horrible staff , and Chronic Taco isn't one of them . The food taste great, the staff is great, and the portion sizes are plenty . I usually get the beer battered fish burrito , and man I'm never not satisfied. Really good tacos! Very clean place and friendly staff. I got the 2 taco plate with the beyond-beef, black beans, cilantro-lime rice, and hot salsa. In my Mexican opinion the salsa needs to be spicier lol. Other then that tacos were really good. Definitely coming back! read more

This hurts my heart to leave a 1 star but I am crazy disappointed in this location. I spent my entire 20s consuming Chronic tacos- BUT THIS ONE is not even close to the same. When it came to town, I could not have been more excited- and What a let down it has been. I've ordered from here 4 times to give it more than 1 chance, and sadly may be our last. The problem? Probably the employees, maybe lack of training? Maybe lack of caring? I don't know. But what I do know, is that no one seems to know how to roll a burrito, make one correctly, or follow directions. I am on my 4th carne asada burrito with out carne asada and our burritos consisting of 90% rice, directions not followed, and rolled so poorly it falls every where before you can even take your first bite. PLUS Flavor is severely lacking. (Same exact scenario with our pork burritos) Seriously why charge me extra for meat, if you have yet to include it? I will repeat: ORDERED 1 CARNE ASADA AND 1 PASTOR BURRITO. Neither burrito came with any meat and so much rice I physically choked on my first bite of yuck. I don't even have to explain the other problems with it- that should be enough. At this point, If I order a quesadilla will it not come with cheese? P.S. this is not the first, second, or third time this has happened. If they can't make a simple burrito correctly or presentable, they shouldn't have opened up until they could- or don't open yet if you couldn't find viable employees or time to train. BEWARE OF CHRONIC TACOS IN MENIFEE ON NEWPORT. I am a firm believer in the fact that when someone shows you who they are "Believe Them." This past Saturday my husband and I went to Chronic Tacos on Newport in Menifee. The restaurant appeared to be open. There were several people inside eating, however there was a sign on the entrance door that stated come back at 5:30 pm. As we started to walk away, the exit door opened and a lady (customer) told us to come in because the restaurant was open. We entered with four other people, whom we did not know. As we reviewed the menu and decided what we were going to order, I got in line. Now mind you, the other people who entered behind us were already in line. While I stood in line one of the cooks looked at me and yelled, "We are closed. Why did you come in?" I was very embarrassed because of his tone and the fact he yelled at only me. Then the manager walked over to me and my husband and politely told us that the store was closed because they needed to prepare more food for the dinner crowd. He also said he doesn't know why so many people are coming in. Being polite does not remove the fact that he was singling us out. We were dressed appropriately and excited to be supporting a new business in our community. I explained to the manager that the City of Menifee is excited to have a new restaurant and it was posted on the Menifee Facebook group. That could be why people were coming in. Again, he asked us to leave and come back after 5:30pm. The manager did not ask anyone else in line to come back. As the manager was talking to us, two more people came in the exit door and got in line. He clearly saw them enter and get in line. But he never asked them to leave. I was extremely upset but maintained my composure and we left. I worked serving the county of Los Angeles for 29 years. I treated everyone with dignity and respect. Even when I was disrespected, spit on, yelled at, called racist names, and attacked because of the uniform I wore. But this was very different because it was personal and directed at me and my husband. We were the only two people of color in the restaurant and the only two asked to leave. The poor lady (customer) who directed us to come in approached me as we were leaving and wholeheartedly apologized for telling us to come in. I told her it wasn't her fault at all. It was embarrassing, belittling, unfair and prejudice. When you show me who you are, I believe you. I pray this prejudice treatment of me and my husband is an isolated incident, however if this type of treatment is not corrected it will be repeated. Inspite of the treatment we received at Chronic tacos, Menifee is a great and welcoming community and I am glad we sold our home and bought here. Ignorance, prejudice, and disrespect is way too common in this world, but I refuse to allow it to change me. Chronic Tacos will never ever get the opportunity to treat me nor my husband like that again. We will take our business else where. After we left, I called the corporate office to report what occurred. No one has returned my call. Apples do not fall far from the tree. If the corporate staff doesn't value customers than it's no wonder why the cook thought it was ok to yell at me, and the manager felt comfortable to ask only my husband and myself to leave. As far as the food goes it was not as great as I would have anticipated especially for the prices of this place. First time in a chronic taco restaurant. Was pleasantly surprised by clean and nice ambiance inside. Air conditioner at appropriate temp for such a hot summer day. Cool tunes on ceiling speakers. Not too loud so adds to nice dining experience. I like how they break down on menu and menu board the various styles or preferred flavor for the burritos or tacos. I went with carnitas burrito in street style or flavor. Their menu board describes ingredients so you know how each style is flavored. The young lady at counter was pleasant and helpful. She converted my order items into a combo which saved me money. Once i sat down they brought over my food in about 7-8 minutes. Burrito is HUGE. Love the slightly toasted flour tortillas cuz adds nice texture as I bite into it. My burrito was delicious. Chips and salsa were fresh. Definitely recommend. Leaving a 2 star because of not a worker issue. But a training issue. Because almost every chronic we go to has this same issue. My friends gave the same complain. Me and my gf get chicken and regular cheese quesadillas, my friends do the same. And we always have to ask for more cheese. They always skimp on the cheese, you need to add cheese on the top of the meat so the tortilla sticks to the top as well. It's annoying having it fall apart cause there is only cheese on the bottom half. Literally nothing holding it to the top tortilla. It's not just the meat versions. My gf's quesadilla tonight was practically a tortilla with a tiny bit of cheese. Wtf is that. Not to mention a quesadilla is literally CHEESE, the fact this is an issue is ridiculous. It should be over flowing with cheese. Especially when it's a $8 quesadilla. Please fix this through our all locations. Such an annoying problem to have. Quesadillas shouldn't be short on cheese, they should have too much if anything being cheese is not expensive and that's the entire dam ingredient. I'll change my review when you fix this issue. If not I doubt I'll be going anymore. Sucks when I've probably spent over $1,000 at your seal beach location alone. So happy I found a Chronic Taco In Menifee! I frequent them in OC. This one is HUGH and so nice! And most of all YUMMY! I highly recommend the carnitas tacos. BEWARE WHEN ORDERING HERE. Because I ordered through the yelp site, it goes through Grubhub. Nowhere does it tell you you are ordering thru Grubhub, but you are if you do the online order. You will pay about 20% more for that. To be fair, I don't know if this is the fault of Chronic Taco or Yelp. The food is pretty good, although the carne asada was very tough in my bowl-rito.
