Waited a very long time for our food. Came home to dig in and it was just ok. The al Pastor taco was amazing. The chicken taco I couldn't eat. The queso sauce was very runny and had no flavor. The biggest issue was the bean and cheese burrito. They charged us $6.95 for a tiny burrito. It was smaller than half the of the chorizo burrito, which was $8.95. Bummer! Quick caveat: I have not been to any other Chronic Tacos locations and this review is based solely on my experience at the Menifee location. Overall, I was SO excited to try it and eagerly awaited its opening; unfortunately, my experience left a lot to be desired. Pros: The cashier was kind, friendly, and patient. I expected the menu to only be tacos and was surprised to see burritos, burrito bowls, quesadillas, tacos, even carne asada fries, and tater tots! He walked me through the options and made recommendations which I found very helpful. I also liked that there were so many different options for example there were 3 different salsas (pico de gallo, salsa verde and salsa roja), beans (black, pinto, refried), cilantro lime rice or Mexican rice, and a variety of different meat options. Cons: The food was simply not tasty. I ordered a baja burrito with chicken, salsa verde, refried beans, and Mexican rice. On the side, I ordered tater tots & queso (which those options are so promising!) The burrito was very disappointing though - filled with way too much rice, the chicken was dry and burnt in small pieces (almost like crumbs), there wasn't enough salsa (would recommend getting a side of it), and I ended up only eating half because of the overwhelming amount of rice. The tater tots did not seem to be cooked or heated up all the way, they were cold and I was surprised the container they came in was only half full. While the queso was tasty, I probably wouldn't order it again because of the small portion size. Location: This is probably the most problematic in my opinion. While Newport is a perfect spot to be spotted, getting into and out of the parking lot is chaotic. There is a Starbucks drive thru bordering this location and the line runs into the parking lot which makes it difficult to park and/or leave. There a few other businesses sharing the same, small parking lot in addition to another highly anticipated restaurant opening in the same parking lot. I imagine it is only going to cause more traffic and chaos once it opens (yikes!) I would give Chronic Tacos one more chance but I am by no means rushing back! read more

This is the worst taco shop I have ever eaten at in the 57 years of my life!!we ordered 8 tacos a burrito and 6 drinks almost 90 dollars!!Wow!! the 8 asada tacos where all dried out like beef jerky.both meats was like it was sitting in the steamer from the day before(who knows how many hours).I was only able to eat half my carnitas burrito grease was spewing down my wrist.it was the grossest thing.I know one thing for sure I WONT BE BACK!!!! read more

5 stars to the staff during the lunch hour on Mother's Day, 5/14. I wish I had gotten their names! There was a younger person with short red hair who was so sweet and had such a positive attitude. And then there was an older woman who had checked or order out who was so willing to help with anything we asked. She asked us how our food was, got us to go bins, and was just very nice. 5 stars for the staff! I agree with the other reviews that ordering is a little confusing but it wasn't too bad. Oh it's just doesn't even look like a taco place. It's nothing special it's that chipotle style pick and choose and go down the line. It's not that authentic Mexican style tacos. The tortillas are not fresh. they are taken from the bag and put in a press to make them warm . How can you advertise a plate but put everything in a bag. I was looking for a plate to go . App is horrible, but if you do manage to get it to work, make sure you tip them, even if it's just for a pickup order. I usually round up, with it being right around 10% tip, and no problems. Decided not to this time, just left it at zero (you actually have to enter zero on the app btw). Got in here at noon, just a few minutes after my scheduled pickup time. Place was dead, just one person in line. Since my order wasn't done yet, and already past pickup time, you'd think they would have mine before starting on the person in line, but nope. So I had to sit and wait for hers to be done, then mine to be made, to get my order almost 10 minutes late. I had the potato taco which was pretty good and then a carne asada taco. The carne asada was really good, and the potatoe taco wasn't bad either. The pico is really good. We just had a delicious meal at Chronic Tacos!! We were immediately greeted with a warm Hello and a smile by both employees, Alex and Elizabeth. (I asked their names before I left.) We ordered a Breakfast Burrito and a California Burrito and an order of Churros! We sat down and waited there for our food. The restaurant was immaculate and there were entertaining shows playing on the TVs. Our order was completed and came out perfectly. We devoured the entire meal and were both very very impressed to say the least!! The Tater Tots were crispy and there was plenty of bacon in the breakfast burrito and the French Fries and Carne were to die for in the California Burrito! As I began to order my 2 taco plate I am asked "corn or flower". Flower tortillas on a taco? Confused, I switched to a burrito. Mistake, but we'll get back to that. Disappointing. I ordered a carnitas burrito, which had very little, to practically no meat. It was loaded with rice and beans though. The carne asada bowl I ordered with Extra meat as well , had Extra beans and rice again... very little meat. I expected better from all the raving reviews, should've kept going to primos instead. The food was hot, tacos were good size but the innards were so salty, I couldn't decide if it was the salsa or the salt burning my mouth. Not sure why this has such low ratings. For a take out fast food Mexican place this is one of the best. Big portions. We ordered takeout, and nothing was missing, which is a miracle in this day and age. I have been eating at El Pollo Loco for many years, and it in the past two years, every takeout and every delivery order that I have gotten has been missing something, one time an entire meal! This place was ready exactly on time when I ordered it. When I got home everything was still hot, the way they do there at corn tortillas is awesome. They were nice and warm. They were still warm when we packed up everything. We got the chicken and the Al Pastor and both were delicious. Now I am here to try the Carnitas and the Asada and the fish. This is definitely going to be one of my new takeout places. I thought the prices were very reasonable as well. The tacos were very good! Parking is a little tricky...the dirt lot is not easy on the undercarriage of cars. However, I'm guessing that will change as the landscaper crews finish the work there.
